I agree the self sacrifice and defeat of Thrawn are actions enough to warrant the promotion to Jedi Knight.

The Trial of Skill: Outwitting the Empire at every turn. The Trial of Courage: Facing overwhelming odds time and again and overcoming them. The Trial of Spirit: In spite of all the hardships and temptations he has faced, Ezra has remained true to his fight against the Empire and his commitment to the Jedi ways. The Trial of Flesh: Witnessing the death of his master, who was like a second father to him, but not falling to despair and fear. The Trial of Insight: Facing Palpatine's temptation and deceit, and fully letting go of his past. I'd say the only thing he's missing is a tap or two on the shoulder with a lightsaber.

Yes, I think Ezra does earn Knight rank. However, I do not think the sacrifice of ones life is part of it! Otherwise, no one would survive to serve as a Knight! Hollywood idolizes self sacrifice for everyone except themselves! It's like Darth Sidious willing to sacrifice his various apprentices to further his own ends! I don't go for that storyline. I've been the subject of Narcissistic Gaslighting and Abuse most of my life. (Parents!) Since when does being "good" equal being gullible? Rhetorical question!!! It doesn't! I'm a nice guy, and it doesn't bother me to help people, or tell them NO. Nice doesn't mean foolish! 🤷 I was ten years old when E4 came to theaters as simply "STAR WARS". My favorite scene was the Cantina, but not for the reason it's other people's favorite. When the Thugs accosted Luke, Obi-wan tried to diffuse the situation; offering to buy them a drink, saying the situation wasn't worth the trouble they started. But when they pushed him; drawing blasters and shooting, he didn't hesitate to kill them both! Nice guy! Don't push it! IMO, that was a perfect example of a Jedi Knight.
