Quite interesting points actually, thanks. I'm not so far as an artist so it might be useful in future for me. About this visual art is being considered as a hobby - It is quite funny when you say you are painting and some of "friends" will reply something like: "Your paintings are nice, you can paint something for me..." in a way like let it be your pleasure to paint something for them :D

On the topic of business, what do you think about running ads as an artist or actual ways to get exposure on your work? I think the general advice that other artists give is quite misleading, it really feels like you're posting to the void sometimes. On the other hand, things like events and their artist alleys are also not very good (upfront payment for a booth + expenses on prints and other things) and it seems very hard to not lose more money than you made at these just like your gallery example. Would love to hear your opinion on that, your videos have been helpful.

Yeah, from talking with people doing the art fairs, they tell that they are willing to travel to many major fairs all year and year after year. It doesn't really work just signing up for a booth at a few art fairs. They can do well at one fair and nothing at another. The following year be a different outcome at each fair. The other thing I noted is that many times a friend or relative is baby sitting the booth for them. The artist doesn't want to sit there for 3 days talking with basically tourists. That would be me. I could never sit there unless I'm at a real showing talking with enthusiasts. Sometimes the local artists will just come and set up the booth and leave. Then come back to pack up. I could do that one. Networking seems a bit fake especially online. The professional artist are mostly introverts working long hrs in their studios and enjoying other life things. It's nothing like artist life in the movies. Artists no longer meet up in pubs or coffee houses, get into drunken arguments and cut each others ears off. The University art instructors are mostly bad advice. With exception of the ones who had successful professional art careers and simply enjoy teaching in those later years. Our world has changed physical social to digital social. We can try o fight it but we will likely loose at this point. I'm thinking more in the lines of posting just a few samples on social media ( the greatest modern human exposer) and then leave reference to our personal websites where folks can leave comments, ask questions or purchase work at full price. We could only put our very best work on our site. Anything questionable will lose audience. Networking out from that, where we refer folks who come to our site, to other reputable artists websites. Attempting to create a loop of reputable artist for art only conversation and sales. This route typically takes two or more years to become anything worth talking about. It's just how slow quality things move through the digital social world because the digital social world is huge diverse interest and intentionally designed for scattering brains. I did not say "scatter brains" because that wouldn't be kind and we artist are kind warriors! Ha HA

I have a problem with the "online places to sell my work" It is like building a house to sell at market price. You wouldn't build in an area with cheaper quality homes and expect to get paid the true value of your more expensive quality build. I know some sites are set up for purchasers to choose their price range of art they are seeking. Yet you're still on a site that is selling art that should be considered craft or student art. You don't choose a realtor that generally sells cheaper homes to sell your home that should be in a much higher market. There are people with plenty of money who are only looking for the great deals on great works. They will shop those lower price ranges, looking for a sucker. The same can be said for the tax write-off super high value market, where they are looking to purchase a $40,000 piece and donate it at $150,000 to steal tax payers money. I don't want my work associated with that tax scam art industry. Is there such site that is limited to a medium price range for professional art? Like $2,000-$10,000 or $20, 000 - $200,000. I know we are getting into the gatekeepers once we hit $20,000>
