I’ve read some fan story about low ranking Dark Eldar a long time ago. The safest place was basically at the bottom of the pecking order. Do an important job, where replacing you is too much effort, and you’ll just be used as a plaything by those above you. One factory worker was making ammunition the bottom ranking cabals couldn’t function without so she just stayed in the factory as it kept changing hands. Whenever she was too tired to keep working the warriors got to "use" her while she tried to sleep. It wasn’t rare to go to sleep with one cabal's warrior on top of her and waking up to see another cabal had taken over. One squad leader was actually surprised that one of his warriors saved his life without hesitation. He then realized that the guy was next in line for his job and currently couldn’t afford constantly looking out for backstabbers...

There was a Red Corsair story where a loyalist Astral Claw was kept awake in a dreadnought sarcophagus, unable to move or die due to the life support systems

Technically Drukhari might have actually been able to fill up their souls with any excess of emotion and just decided to continue torturing sense that was what they had been doing. I like that the Homunculi basically viewed the bottomless well of scientific degeneracy that is Fabius Bile as a cute stray dog that they picked up at the dump and decided to bring home for awhile

What people need tounderstand is that a Dark Eldar raiding party (what you see on tabletop) isn't a Dark Eldar army. It's an Archon trying to get slaves (basically a work day), along with a Wych cult here to distract him by flaying and killing with style so he doesn't get bored. And often with an Haemonculi showing off, by putting his lastest creations against other races on the battlefield. They're just having fun and harvesting. They don't conquer (since they can't live for a long time in realspace anyway). A real DEldar army would by quite terrifying.

As a Drukhari player, I believe that every race in the galaxy deserves a chance... ...To be sentient soup.

The Dark Eldar are the remnants of the Aeldari Empire who remain remorseless of their sheer over excess at everything they do that brought forth Slaanesh even after the fall of their civilization.

I am waiting for a true tragic monster's incorporated moment for the dark Eldar when one realizes they get far more anti-slanesh points by causing people to truly fall in love, but then that group gets destroyed by the Eldar the moment they showed weakness.

Sometimes, I almost like to imagine that the real reason the Night Haunter let himself be M'Shenned was because he feared one day the DEldar might come for him, and drag him off to Commoragh. It's terrifying to imagine finding him later, just slumped quietly in a corner of some alleyway, muttering "this can't be real", because it's worse there than anywhere else he's ever been. It's also slightly weird that the DEldar, who are apparently trying to avoid Slaanesh, at least after a fashion, seem better at the while excess game than the literal Space Marines who have signed up for her blessings. Not to shit on the Noise Marines, though they might like it, but it seems even when they are activating to impress She Who Thirsts with their depravity, deep down they know the spikey Space Elves are better at it, and that's just in trying to keep her from eating them. Last bit, thank you for continuing to say "Eldar". I know it's not a big thing, and Aeldari and Drukhari are fin, I guess, but I remember when they weren't just trying to copyright everything under their IP umbrella, like the Imperial Guard becoming Astra Militarum, thus I prefer Eldar, so thanks for sticking with it!

I've said it before, but I'll say it again, this is why they Dark Eldar are "The Best Faction in 40k."* Of all the grimdarkest grimdark factions, the Drukhari are what they are essentially by choice. They are the remnant of that old Eldar empire that got so self-obsessed and hedonistic that they birthed Slaanesh, and they continue to be truly vile and evil, even though there are paths out of that way of being. They're like a whole race of 80s slasher horror movie villains, and it's great! *because you can make an individualized case for pretty much every faction being "The Best Faction in 40k"

I have been thinking. Chaos is sour that the Lion has come back. If the orks find out about the Lion they will more than likely line up to fight him. However I believe that Tzeentch is is gidy with joy because the Lion's return will ensure that Great Game just got so much spicier and up the difficulty to veteran level. On one occasion, the T'au retaliated against craftworld Iyanden for some dark eldar fuckery. Iyanden obliterated the t'au in initial skirmishes, discovered the treachery, and the t'au wanted to broker peace. Iyanden ignored them in favor of finding that meddlesome drukhari.

It is low-key terrifying how the only actual danger to the Dark Eldar is themselves.

Among the Alderi and Dark Eldar themselves, the worst thing the Homunculi have ever done, is turn Alderi into humans. After 10,000 years the Homunculi came up with a process to turn Alderi DNA into human DNA. This is considered so heinous an act among the Alderi, because of how different the two races are. Though the fact this is possible at all is telling, but its described by Dark Eldar that becoming human is like being made nearly blind, nearly deaf, losing near all ability to feel and barely able to think. Finally existing in strange mental fog as the body seems to move through air like it were thick mud. Culminating in knowledge that you have lost nearly everything, but lack the intelligence to comprehend what that was. Even the total despair turned Eldar feel is said to be muddled and pale shadow if how they think they should feel. It is considered pretty dark even by Homunculi and Dark Eldar standards. To the point its rarely done and most would consider being turned into a mass of gene meat used for battle or experimentation a kinder fate.

"Keep... going... don't... give in." she muttered to her self, coughing blood and gritting her teeth as blood dripped down from her forehead partially blurring her vision. When suddenly, a shiver runs down her spine and her heart sinks as she hears the sounds of slowly approaching footsteps behind her. Kabalite Warrior: **audible musing** "Well... there you are... there I was thinking I'd lost you." Voidsman: **Brings back her arm to reach for her side arm** Kabalite Warrior: **Stamps foot down on her hand, an audible crack can be heard as several bones in her hand are shattered** "A-ahh. Now now, you wont be needing that anymore." Voidsman: **Lets out a sharp yelp and whimper from the sudden shock** Kabalite Warrior: **Disarms her and discards the sidearm** "Ooh does it hurt? The last statement is pretty deep if you think about it. Most extreme sadists had a fucked up life almost as bad as the dark elder. Can we really blame them for what they become?

I'm not sure the Dark Eldar are worse then Chaos, simply because Slaanesh exists and is sort of a reflection of them since they're essentially the ones who created her.

Can someone help me with something. If they die, Slaanesh devours their souls. But they can also be brought back to life. Is there a grace period on Slaanesh chowing down or is this one those shoulder shrug moments in lore?

awesome video Majorkill. Let's not forget they murderfucked a Chaos god into existence. I will say that they definately give an uncomfortably literal meaning to the term "Fuck yo couch". Especially when that couch used to be a squad of Imperial Guard, or Tau.

For the fans of Lovecraft, the Dark Elder remind me of the citizens of K'nyan, the dead underground city whose immortal inhabitants had fallen (in much the same manner of the Drukhari) into endless decadance, eventually losing their souls and physical beings through unchecked indulgence in pleasure, sadisim, experience-seeking, etc... The semi/pre-human underground race were from the novella 'The Mound', ostensibly a collaboration between Lovecraft and Zealia Bishop. (But really written almost 100% by H.P.L). There are a lot of paralells- The damned race lived halfway in reality (the webway?). Their city was only the topmost level of a much, much worse reality with much worse denizens (thw warp and chaos?), full of elder gods (chaos gods?), which were, not to put too fine of a point on it, WAY worse, and feared and placated by the 'people' of K'nyan... Anybody else see that connection?

I feel like the last one could be better so I went back into my memory and remembered during the book Manflayer, a Haemonculus made a Tower out of still living people and trained Fabius Bile in it. To me that's the single worst thing we've seen them do, and that's saying a lot
