It is harvest time, the 50th harvest.
With the sunrise, 50harvests begin
50 years have gone by with changes and innovation but the land and the vineyards are still standing strong and proud.
From Trebbiano, Malvasia, and Merlot to the star grape Sangiovese and then Cabernet Sauvignon, the harvest is still a manual task. Family, friendship, dedication, hard work, team effort, and also the social aspect is at the core of a successful harvest.
Cutting...making the first selection....gathering in baskets...driving the tractor back and forth between vineyard and grape crusher...a second selection...crushing...the juice flowing into the fermentation tanks…
Harvest work is a beautiful never-ending flow of human interaction…
Moments of rest and relax are fundamental to a good harvest, the harvest lunch becomes a moment to recharge, connect, and reconnect. Enjoying local food, raising a glass together, exchanging opinions, learning from each other…
Just as in older times, the work starts with sunrise and ends with sunset. Everything comes full circle.
The harvest comes to an end, the Vin Santo grapes are hung to dry, the fermentation vats are closed...the waiting begins...the waiting for the result...of this the 50th harvest.
