As a huge Andrae Crouch supporter I used to wonder about at least some of his musical influences over the years especially his songs from the late 60's and early 70's...mystery solved!!!!!!
LOVE THE 5TH DIMENSION. NEVER SAW THIS BEFORE. MY AUNT DOTTIE WAS MIKE DOUGLAS'S PRODUCER AND WHEN THE 5TH DIMENSION WERE ON HIS SHOW MARILYN MCCOO WAS ACTUALLY MY BABYSITTER FOR 20 MINUTES IN THE GREEN ROOM WHILE MY AUNT SHOWED MY MOM MIKES NEW OFFICE.
Just read your delightful comment. What a beautiful memory of this iconic group. They r in a class by themselves. The harmonies, dance moves, horn section and nor 2 mention their amazing costumes. LOVE THEM! Always have. Always will😅🎆
They were "MY Beatles" back in the day-still love them and recently(finally) got to see them this year, they picked me out of the audience to come up on stage and dance-they made me an honorary member-I was the "6TH Dimension"-totally honored-they were so cool back stage after signing autographs and chatting-they STILL rock!! Love Them...XOXOXO
Florence and Marilyn had totally different voices but when they sing in unison they sound almost identical. Anyway, it's too bad "Girls' Song" wasn't a bigger hit. I think it's one of the 5th's best songs.
I guess this defines the question, "what do you get when you combine 3 beautiful talented female singers, two solid male lead singers, and a handsome baritone.
Thank you very much for finding this and for posting it. I can't believe it! My favourite group singing songs from my favourite album of theirs, including Carpet Man. This is wonderful. I just wish this album had done better for them but I guess it was just a bit too "different" for some tastes (although Carpet Man did reach No. 2 on the charts in Canada). I've loved The Magic Garden since 1968, and thank you again for this treat. Have a wonderful day!
