If you want to know how to be a coach, use this framework:
I = Identify. It's important to identify with your prospects and clients, to understand their models of the world, and create a deep long lasting connection, otherwise known as rapport. If you do not have rapport & connection as a coach, you can't help anybody.
G = Get leverage and permission. This is a short step, in terms of how long it actually takes, but it is CRITICAL. Getting leverage means helping people discover their pain and pleasure points - in other words, why do they want to make a change in their lives, and what are they searching for. Without leverage, people tend not to move.
But even if you have the most amazing coaching skillset on the planet, if a client does not give you permission to coach him or her, all your superpower coaching skills become useless. Take the 10 seconds needed to ask them if they give you permission to help them in that moment.
N = New outcomes. Again, this is a short step, but incredibly important. You want the client to tell you what he or she is wanting in this coaching interaction, whether it's short term or long term. Once you have that target established, you'll both be on the same page.
I = Inner work. This is where your coaching skills come in to play. If you want to be a transformational change agent in the world, you must be able to help people change their internal beliefs about themselves, others, and how the world works. Neurolinguistic Programming is the most complete study of human behavior, and therefore the most powerful set of coaching tools known.
When you get certified in the inner work that really makes a difference in people's lives, you'll be able to create long-lasting positive change that many people never experience because they are only learning more of the conscious how-to information that's flooding society.
T = Test and connect. It is beneficial for people to have a "check and choose" mentality, that their progress is about making changes, assessing whether they changes are working, and then making different choices if needed. We also need to help people constantly connect to their higher power and higher purpose, in order for their progress to continue building momentum.
E = Empower to succeed. Finally, once we helped the client make the shifts necessary to succeed, we must help them also create the supportive environments and game plans they will need to make the changes permanent.
