Inspired by the Love of Jesus Christ
Verse of the Day (as related to the topic of this video):
"No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word-He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy]. Therefore, my beloved, run [keep far, far away] from [any sort of] idolatry [and that includes loving anything more than God, or participating in anything that leads to sin and enslaves the soul]." - 1 Corinthians 10:13-14 (AMP)
A movie I highly recommend: The Gospel According to Matthew (starring a very animated and engaging acting performance by Bruce Marchiano, who plays Jesus). This is a word-for-word adaptation that has a unique take on the body language and charisma of Jesus, and also makes it easier to understand and quicker to read the story. I am hopeful that this movie gives you peace, love, hope, security, comfort, and answers, as it did me, and continues to do to this day. God bless you.

To me what makes Arnold relatable he never forces his views onto people but tries to be there for people and being able to give back something most people do when they know people need help but it has to be done in baby steps and not going to far with forcing your views on people

The phrase “Nothing easy is worth doing” looks like it really applies here. While I haven’t gotten addicted to anything (it could be because I find a balance in everything and have some good self-control but idk), it sounds like it’s hard to beat an addiction. Usually I struggle to do things if I have no motivation to do them, and I can’t imagine how hard it would be if I wanted to do the *opposite* of what I’m doing.

I relapsed three weeks ago on alcohol after two and half years sober. I even went on a drinking binge yesterday and tried to end it all to smother over some pain that came back to haunt me over the weekend, on top with other pressures that have been brewing up over the last few months. To see this video recommended to me now is just incredible. Sometimes the algorithm can be something at times. I'm trying my best to conquer my addiction, as I don't particularly enjoy drinking and use it to punish myself.

Yeah please consult somebody or AT LEAST do an Internet search before quitting the way as shown in the video. Quitting cold turkey by getting rid of the substance that you were/are addicted to. There are many people who, just because they think they quit "harder" drugs cold turkey they can do the same for everything else, and end up dying. Difference substances affect your body in different ways. Please do your research.

I feel for chocolate boy because... I was an addict who was similar to him. I was addicted to food and sweets and it started affecting my health. I can confirm that addiction is rough physically and mentally, so quitting it is hard, but liberating when you beat it. I did it for my son. I didn't want to be an eataholic who was too fat and unhealthy to be with him. This motive was a godsend.

Arnold is seriously such a great person. I don't know any little kid who would sacrifice their time to help someone overcome an addiction after previously betraying their faith and lying to them. His tactics for getting chocolate boy to quit display just how much empathy he felt for his situation. The fact that Arnold understood how someone could relapse but still be worth helping and was able to give chocolate boy a second chance also shows a great level of psychological maturity.

Maybe you can talk about the Hey Arnold episode where Arnold helped Harold lose weight. That episode also had a really great message. It could be a great way to encourage people to not be ashamed of their bodies and to help motivate them to live a more healthy life style. Some people are ashamed of their bodies, including me. I admit my weight loss journey didn't have a great start. I started earlier than I wanted to because a doctor's appointment revealed I'm pre-diabetic. I just most stop eating, which was NOT a good thing to do and I did it out of mild depression, as well as exercise more. But then after a while, I started losing the weight the right way (i.e. stop eating big dinners, exercise more, and stop frequently eating fast food) and now I'm currently in the best shape of my life. I'm not at my goal yet, but I'm still gonna keep doing what I've been doing (as well as keeping an open mind to anything else that could help).

That episode hit close to home for me. Most of my childhood, I would overeat and was bullied for being fat. Then come middle school, I hated myself enough that i stared purging almost every day for 2 years. Then I had to deal with the hassles of being underweight. And the ensuing personal problems from that. For several years, I somehow worked my way out of it without outside intervention. But now I feel the pendelum has swung back the other way. While i do exercise, I still have issues with overeating because of that "reward" system I internalized.

I did want to mention a few things, since I am a therapist and have worked closely with individuals with moderate to severe co-occurring disorders (I do not like this term, however, this is what it is called. I prefer the word concerns rather than disorder). The most important step that is missing is acknowledging there is an addiction. This was lightly touched on in the video, but this is the first and biggest step. As long as the person does not see the addiction as a concern, problem or preventing them from living and enjoying life, there is no way they can work through the addiction. Just like any other concern in this world, if the person does not have awareness or refuses to admit there is a concern, that concern is nowhere close to being worked through. So before anything, understanding and acknowledging there is an addiction in the first place is very important. Also, it’s important to be compassionate to ourselves and others if they have an addiction, because the brain tricks our rewards system (producing dopamine, which makes us feel happy and/or relaxed) and thus tricks the body into thinking and feeling that we can not survive without the source of the addiction. Overtime, the brain adapts and thinks that without the substance/activity, just like water and food, we won’t survive, which is why people will go through withdrawal. The brain and body literally can not tell the difference between wanting and needing something. It is not a person’s fault that they can not stop the addictive behavior and it takes a lot of discipline, support from others, learning more positive coping skills and self-care etc to work through an addiction. So be kind. Some addictions are linked to trauma and some people use substances/activities to cope through difficult and painful experiences, because that might have been taught to them as the only way to deal with their problems (usually learned and observed by their family and/or loved ones). Also, to a certain extent, we all have addictions. It may not be as severe as what others go through, but cellphones, social media, food etc. can all be addictions. So if you have an addiction and/or know someone with an addiction be kind to yourself and others. Don’t blame or get mad at yourself/others for something you/they are clearly struggling. Instead empower them and encourage them. By validating your own and others’ experiences and feelings, you are helping them to understand and accept themselves (Note: themselves and their feelings; not their behavior).

Concern have a pretty different meaning to disorder, though.

Also there is a german term called "Eupemismustretmühle". This translates to euphemism treadmill. Changing from a harsh or offensive word toa less harsh word, an euphemism, for the sake of not harming other people feelings doesn't solve anything. The newfound word to describe the same thing, will soon have the same connotations and carry the same harsh feelings als the old word. Im censoring for the sake of youtube not removing my comment: Exchanging "rət@arded" for "disabled" was useless. Bullies in school just call the other kids disabled nowadays. Nothing ever changed by running the euphemism treadmill.

Strangely enough this video comes out 27 Days after I last took any drug. I'm on that journey and learned many things through relapse and experience by myself. It's the motivation to do it for me, finally wanting to live clean from the bottom of my heart that finally gives me the feeling it's the last time I took them. It's hard and it will become even harder working on my underlaying problems later that year but no matter what happens, I need to continue going forward. After 5 years of Polytox addiction, I'm gonna be and I'll come far in life. I know and feel it.

Arnold is honestly one of the greatest characters in animation. He and this show taught me so many things when I was a little kid, he was the first character to show me that there's many ways to solve problems, both others' and your own, that aren't just exercise or school. This and the Pigeon Man episode have a special place in my heart cause it shows that everyone can overcome any obstacle or regain faith (even if just a little bit) if they've got someone like Arnold by their side. We all should try to be more like Arnold.

Oddly enough, I remember watching this show on Nickelodeon as a kid growing up in the Bronx. The show dealt with a lot of issues - from addiction and therapy to relationship problems and bullying. I wouldn't say the show was underated at that time. It was pretty popular. But I would never though of getting addicted to alcohol at 19 3/4 years old going on 20 and quiting last summer at the age of 34 1/2 going on 35. I was able to quit this addiction by getting help online thru peer-support groups on Reddit and RU-vid. I'm still with them to this very day. As of now, I am 474 days sober. Watching parts of this episode where Arnold tries to help Chocolate Boy overcome his eating addiction for the first time in over 20+ years has taken me back in time. And I wanna thank you for using episodes dealing with serious issues from old TV shows. Keep up the good work! I look forward to see more videos from you. Thanks for reading this!

to me that episode was the darkest and strongest one. after my 3rd relationship: that i said in the past damaged me. in the beginning i was doing good after i left her but out of nowhere, i became addicted to adult activities and alcohol. i told myself and everyone i was ok and fine but i didnt realize i wasnt. after the adult activities stopped and i got addicted to alcohol more and almost died from it. the next day i planned a workout schedule and the day after that i went to it. i worked out, eat right, drink more water and coffee, got rid of the half/empty bottles i had and lastly fought hard. i had small withdraws but it didnt win. at times i bought a 6 pack but has 1 or 2 of it and thats it. a addiction is like a enemy in us trying to win, dont let it when. always remember that you have loved ones and most of all love for yourself to be more from your past to be more tomorrow. there is a difference between a reward and "REWARD": a reward is like having a small amount and keep it modest: at least in my book. a "REWARD" is something you deserve more and need and puts you back at step 0 not 1. was it getting off the addiction hard a bit but listen to certain songs and band as i worked out also thinking about the damage and the others around me, i kept fighting and pushing. in the end the always remember you can win if you remember what you have and who you are

I struggled with alcohol for a time but im not even kidding when i say I'd rather struggle with alcoholism than my ongoing issue with the Hub. To put this out there for the world is such an uncomfortable thing to talk about but I'd rather put my self in a position of embarrassment than for people to continue thinking that pornography addiction isn't a real thing and isn't damaging to the humane psyche. For you kids out there reading this, that stuff truly does ruin your self esteem and is as toxic as an abusive relationship if you rely on it and allow yourself to believe it's a healthy alternative to finding a relationship

The 6 steps to overcoming addiction for Christians: A. Don't do it alone 1. Delete and throw it all away. Block those websites 2. Have the fear of the Lord. Fear sining against God. Be scared of what you could/have become from the addiction 3. Focus your eyes on Jesus, and replace the addiction with spending time with Him 4. Uncover the trauma behind the addiction (if there is any) 5. Overcome the addiction by doing it for God. Be motivated by the love of God 6. Replace the negative and condemning thoughts with happy and hopeful thoughts. “I can be happy. I can be free. I can rely on Jesus. He loves me and empowers me to overcome the addiction. There is freedom in Christ. I am not alone.”

last year when i was in 10nt grade I saw my these small bottles of a weed drink that my dad uses for muscle pain. So I drank one and started to feel good. Then I started to bring one to school just to get my mind off things. After drank one at school i started to act very strange towards my friends by saying dude feel how comfy this chair is or feel on how light my phone is then i started to talk about random stuff to the point where they were confused. Now I was at the point where i wanted more but I did not want my dad to be very suspicious so I tried to stop myself from this addiction for abut a week.
