Love the video's. I love the history of the tractors. I have a 66 also and wouldn't trade it for any other tractor! I live in Georgia and they're rare down here.
Sounds like that little 66 was a money maker also for you since that is what you started with. It's always neat to see what people started farming with.
Yep, when we rebuilt My 4240S we installed 4640 cylinder kit 4640 injectors 4640 turbo and the aftercooler Noticeable power increase....This model was assembled in Germany where most all tractors have MFD.. has been a lifesaver with the weather we've had these last few years.. Look for you when i see ya....
+Oliver66FarmBoy hahah they judged the book by it cover and they got that rong! They prob heard her start kicking and there jaw dropped to the floor and image he look on there faces nice vid mate keep them coming
Now that's what I'm talkin bout. That is a WORKHORSE! Heck, ours is just a 21 horse tractor. I haven't dynode any of our tractors but my Super (in real life) has this deep throated kind of roar to it... and my friend says "It sounds like a straight 6" That is a little hoss... Hehehehe! Been wondering when you'd make a story in this thanks! More to come.
Cool story dude you should take that to rantoul next year personally I'd keep the paint original I like painted tractors but the original ones catch my eye all the time
I'm 18 years old and I'm on my last semester of high school. I want to be a farmer, I don't have land or equipment, and I don't know where to begin or how to do it.
+Jacob Van Heiden Well when you say you dont know how to do it, im assuming you mean you dont know how to farm? Thats something youre gonna want to start reading up on and learning about before you even consider throwing money at equipment. Equipment is going to be your next step, then find some land to rent.
im curious what started your dad liking olivers so much? did your grandfather farm with them? or maybe a dealer near yrs ago? how many acres did you start farming with this little oliver? luckily i like every brand that way i can buy any good deal!!! lol i really think most all brands had good ones!!
+gerald volkenand Dad needed a tractor when he was remodeling our house and for cutting fire wood so he bought that 77 for cheap fell in love with it and than bought a 4 speed 60 to go with it. We have had Olivers ever since. Started on 6 acres with my 66.
Wow, that is cool your dad bought you that tractor at the age of eight. Sounds like she is a big horse for her size. The older I get the more I want to know the history of tractors. Any tractors you are looking to add to the stable?
+The American Outdoorsman Back then, $2600 was cheap for a 66 because you couldnt find them, especially wide fronts. Now that the internet has come into its own they are pretty easy to find so the price has come down a little.
+Oliver66FarmBoy Ah. I'm not up on Olivers lol. I was just thinking an M is a bigger tractor for less $. Didn't realize the collectability was comparable to say a Super MD TA
Have you started Dr. Johnson's class yet? I'm telling you, forage can make you a living in the field and in livestock, can give you significant daily pounds of gain.
Ok. I bet you like him. He is one of the most knowledgeable people I know about forage. I mean practically not like some academics that don't consider dollars and cents. I'm 57 and will call him in a heart beat and he always answers or returns my calls or emails.
which tractor needed the right side grill. just asking cause these guys down the road have a hand full of Oliver's just rotting away and have 66 77 and quit a few others
Lol well this New Old Shit lol. New to me but Old Stuff. Lol .cool deal man.I'd love to send you some pics this guy apparently before he passed away had started collection of these Oliver's there about 25 tractors out on his lot. Wish I had cash to bring em home
+ScottyRockTrains The white grill is wrong it should be yellow. The grills on the streamlines, fleetlines, and supers were all yellow. They had red wheels from 1944 (If i remember correctly, might me 1940) until 1954 when the supers came out, then the supers had green wheels from 1955 to mid 1957 when the improved supers came out, then they went back to red wheels for the last part of 57 and early 58. Then in mid 1958 when the 3 digit tractors came out they went to white grills and wheels. If an older tractor (pre 1958) came into a dealer on trade it wasnt uncommon for the dealership to pain the grills and wheels white to try to match the paint scheme of the new tractors which is most likely what happed to my 66.
+Oliver66FarmBoy that looks like a nice tractor maybe can you do a vid on that one someday and didn't you have a windbreaker on that 66 in the corn hauling vid
