I've already read 3 books in your list: thinking fast and slow, sapiens and why we sleep. Will start reading other books as well. And also I've read 2 other books about brain which I found very interesting: man who mistook his wife for a hat by oliver sacks and phantoms in the brain by VS Ramachandran. I understand it's too old but their experiments and case studies were awesome and I really enjoyed it.

Sapiens has been recommended by a few. Some say social perspective while some say it decodes being human. It is interesting to know its relevance in the context of brains. Now it is a must read for me along with Behave! There must be some reason why Gregory has so many bookmarks there. :)

i have half readed 'the social animal'. No regrets, it is an amazing book covering a lot of concepts, theories and hypothesis (somatic markers hyphotesis, mirror neurons, marshmellow studies, etc.) on a factible and make-sense story (so far). It is my 5th day reading this, it is a hard book, thinking and rethinking the fact, all of that is new to me (i read biographical and compute science related books, and now, im trying to explain all that behavior using the studies and theories), hoping to end this the next week,. I only get one question, do the other 5 books touch or grasp similar topics, or do they diverge on new concepts and studies? This is only to prepare myself, that this is gonna be a tough journey, with the final goal to understand topics related to the brain and effective learning. and also, after ending this book, do you think am i ready to read thinking, fast and slow? see ya!

Thanks Greg, You just made my want-to-read-list a bit longer... Without your courses on Udemy, one could spend an entire year reading (let alone understanding) the books. PS: what are your thoughts on Dispenza's "Evolve your brain" (reading it now) and Dr. Helmstetter's "The Power of Neuroplasticity" ?
@BrainAcademy1

I haven't read neither of them. Dispenza's book is from 2008. It might be a little outdated. Helmstetter's sounds like a decent book. I don't know his writing style, if it's well researched, etc. Maybe you can comment here, once you've read it, what you thought of it.

I really admire your enthusiasm for these books and I have one question. Do reading these books really help you to control your mind ? I am asking this question because i have a really important exam coming up in the next few months and I wanted to know if the time I invest in these books are worth it and will they give me results or not?
@rajeshpahurkar5505
@rajeshpahurkar5505 3 года назад
Its totally depends upon you dear friend. What you do after reading other books ?? The same think you gonna do with these books also. So, believe in yourself and do not depend upon others opinions - this is the first thing of controlling your brain by urself :) Best wishes for the future - lets create it with your own. 😉

Steven Pinker I only read 'Enlightenment Now' which didn't really talk about the brain as such, but the idea of 'enlightenment' and the need for it. I haven't read it. But Jim Kwik lacks scientific credibility. The guy is really good in marketing himself, surrounding himself with celebrities and the like. The few videos I've seen where he talks about the brain, I couldn't help but point out inaccuracies in what he's saying... So far, I'm not convinced and not really tempted to read his book...
