The action genre is one of the most exciting and loved in all of film. When we think of the term "blockbuster" we usually think of action movies, but the action genre is very broad. Unfortunately, we rarely consider martial arts films blockbusters, but in my opinion they are responsible for many of the genres greatest fight sequences. So today were going to look at the 7 Best Fight Scenes of all time. As always this is my my opinion and I would love to hear what you think?

Bruh The Raid fight scene in the the apartment hall is one of my favorite scene. The boy Julio gets merked! Bruh you miss my boy Matt Damon in in the Bourne Identity 3.
@itakeonmovies
@itakeonmovies Год назад
No lie bro every scene from The Raid or Raid 2 could've made the entire list lol. The Bourne one was cool too. The Bathroom scene in the Bourne Films was kind fire too. Like I said def gonna have to make a part 2 of 3 of this lol
@gerardoaguilar4839
@gerardoaguilar4839 Год назад
@@itakeonmovies a lot people sleep on those films too. That is both of The Raid films. I bring it up and most people have never heard of them. The Bourne scene is hella dope too! A lit of shaky cam effects but the fight scene was adrenaline pumped!
@itakeonmovies
@itakeonmovies Год назад
@gerardoaguilar4839 yeah man I always bring The Raid up, literally can't go wrong with that movie. But the Bournes have some good scenes too. It's more impressive that Matt Damon was actually doing a lot of the fighting himself.

Jet Lee in Fearless or Fist of Legend. Michael Jai White in Blood and Bone or him and Scot Adkins in Undisputed 2. Transporter, District 13, Bourne or Kill Bill movies, OldBoy (Hallway) or maybe Book of Eli. Plenty of material to through

Once again. I'm late, I forgot to sub to your channel (I am now) These are great picks for the best fight scenes of all time. You mentioned the stairs scene in The Protector because of course you did 👍🏻 It would be on my list because it's done in one take and you can see how exhausted Tony Jaa is at the end of it, it's crazy An honorable mention would be the fight between Donny Yen and Collin Chou in Flash Point. I love the wrestling and ground game in that fight (lot of camera cuts tho) To be honest tho, my top fight scenes could all be from the Raid movies 😉 Take care my man, and thank you for the good stuff

I cannot wait for a Part 2, and even a Bruce Lee vid. I knew I was following a good dude on RU-vid because you rate that Ong Bak 2 bridge fight scene - one my favorites and truly the fight scene that illustrated Tony Jaa's real potential at the time. Great list and great fights. I will add that while the Matrix fight might not be my personnel favorite, the scene itself is so amazing because it uses film language in such a way that you slowly begin to BELIEVE that Neo can beat Agent Smith. Hope to hear more from you on this subject soon, especially when it comes to Jet Li and others (including Michael Jai White, Van Damme and any other classic action dudes you find cool).
@itakeonmovies
@itakeonmovies Год назад
Yeah I'm definitely gonna have to get started on a part 2 because there are so many good fight scenes out there especially in regards to Jet Li. Bruce will get his own vid too, that is a must!! In regards to Ong Bak, I always hear about the "stairway scene" and "club Scene" from the first Ong Bak, but not many mention Ong Bak 2 and this scene. Such a well directed piece of action! The Matrix scene is phenomenal to me. I remember watching the action and thinking it was great, but I think its great largely for the reasons you state. It wouldn't be as good as it is without the filmmaking all the way down to the writing. You genuinely feel the stakes! But as always I appreciate your support!

Great list ! I would recommend Donnie Yen Vs Wu Jing from Kill Zone just for the novelty of it, this fight is almost improvised with no speed up. They want to make this scene as close to "real fighting" as possible, not many actor can keep up with Donnie Yen so its great to see him go all out for once. There is an 1 hour BTS video of this fight on RU-vid, one of my favorite fight of all time

If, and when, I make a part 2 for fight scenes, I'm sure that will be on there. Or maybe another Donnie Yen scene I like that I'll keep as a surprise for now. But you are right, that is a classic scene. 👌🏽

For my money, Wong Fei Hung vs the white lotus society, first fight from once upon a time in china 2, and the finale of Jackie Chan's Dragons Forever would belong on my list of top fight scenes :) If you've not seen them before, I recommend checking them out. Excellent choreography but also the character comes through :) (another superb fight is Collin Chou vs Donnie Yen in Flashpoint :) )

Love all of these scenes. Wong Fei Hung is an iconic character. Both of the Once Upon a Time in Chinas are great. I definitely feel like I needed some Jet Li on this list. 😩 Dragons forever is a great movie too. The fight between Chan and Benny is legendary. Loving your list. I haven't seen Flashpoint yet though unfortunately so I'll have to check that one out! ✊🏾

The Raid... I just admire the slickness and genius of the director, Gareth Evans. Regarding martial arts, what Iko and Maddog or Assassin do are ordinary things, they usually do it every day. Iko is a Betawi tribe (Jakarta Province), Maddog/Assassin is a Sundanese tribe (West Java Province), these two provinces are close together, and in ancient times both were well known in Southeast Asia and even the world as a tribe with a strong martial arts culture, in addition to other tribes. other tribes in Indonesia. In the past, in the Betawi (Iko) tribe, young people were required (military conscription?) to master Religion and Silat skills. Every night we Betawi usually watch Silat training and demonstrations. Every Sunday there is a drama performance in the villages (Lenong) which displays stories and silat, with real machetes. In the great Lenong group, accidents occur to the body, possibly to life, when the players are carried away by the emotional current of the audience's applause. If the Iko vs Maddog/Assain fight happened in real life, it might not be as beautiful as in the film, but it would probably be much more terrifying. Why the world today doesn't know/see Silat is because Indonesia can't make films yet, and Gareth sees that.

Good list, really. But I would like to give honorable mentions to the restaurant fight scene from Oldboy (the original korean movie, not the remake). And something from Bourne should be in the list. Bourne was a kind of predecessor to John Wick in that realistic/brutal fighting style for Hollywood movies.

I enjoy Jet Li as well, Fist of Legend is a classic, held back a bit only by the noticeable speed up of some moves in the edit. I get that's a stylistic choice but for me I don't like how it chips away at the authenticity of the scene; other tricks like wire-fu (crouching tiger etc) isn't as bad to me because that just deliberately carries a movie into mystical / fantasy territory, and the viewer can let go of realism a bit.
@itakeonmovies
@itakeonmovies Год назад
Fist of Legend is one of the first martial arts films I ever saw and loved it! Possibly responsible for my love for the genre to be honest..lol. But you're right some of it hasn't aged particularly well..lol. i think I tried to find films that were right in the sweet spot of surreal and realism. Crouching works for the reasons you mention, similar to the matrix. It works in those universes, but they also have grounded scenes as well that don't rely as much on the tricks.

Best fight scene in MA movies. Chuck Norris Vs Bruce Lee. For once the viewer sees the fight from the fighters mindset. Chuck Norris is initially faster, forcing Bruce Lee to switch from rigid to fluid stance, shuffling on the balls of his feet and counterstriking. Norris tries to copy him and fails. This speaks to BL's philosophy of MA: the ability to respond and adapt to any situation, like water. Finally, the warrior code: Norris insists on dying on the battle field rather than dying later from his injuries or being crippled for life. And then, the empathy Lee feels for Norris and his reluctance to kill him, etc. Name me a fight scene that works better as story and showcases the character of the fighters rather than delivering the sheer spectacle of a circus act?

All great films you mentioned. But it's all opinion based. Not here to judge based on where a film comes from, just what looks dope to me, and that final fight in the Matrix is elite in my opinion. Also, it is a Western film sure, but fight choreography was all done by Yuen Woo Ping, a legendary martial arts choreographer/director from China. So I'm sure that had a lot to do with why the fight scenes looked so good.
