Ephesus has some of the best Roman and Greek ruins in the Mediterranean and is a short drive from the port city of Kusadasi, Turkey.
Private guides are very reasonably priced in Turkey and can be more economical than a group tour. A private tour will also provide a much deeper experience at the historical sites.
The Terrace Houses at Ephesus are a must do for anyone interested in ancient Roman life. The Library of Celsus is probably the most famous structure inside of Ephesus.
The Amphitheater in Ephesus is huge and famous for a location where the Apostle Paul delivered a speech.
We also talk about the Virgin Mary's House located in the hills near Ephesus. This is a very peaceful place to visit.
One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is near Ephesus - the Temple of Artemis.
The Basilica of St John the Apostle is near the ancient temple of Artemis.
In the modern city of Kusadasi there is great food, Turkish Carpet Weaving, the Turkish Bazaar to enjoy. Turkish Ice Cream is great and the vendors always have a great show when they sell you a cone.
Cash is King in the Bazaar, you will negotiate a better price with cash. Cash can also save you time by using a cash only line at Ephesus Ticket Office. Vendors will take Turkish Lira, Euros and US dollars but the ticket office will only take Turkish Lira. You can order currency from your back before your departure.
