When I first saw the Linking Cord, I was all like "Wait! THIS is ROM hack stuff! Now, it's canon?!" Trade Evolutions were unfair in '95. By '21, they were just stupid. Good to know that Game Freak is actually listening now.
It used to be a big deal before Online Trading became the norm. Now trade evolutions are just a hassle now. Link Cable was the cherry on top of a lot of decisions made. I hope they carry it over too along with the evolve in menu mechanic and the moves not being "forgotten."
As someone who plays almost exclusively single player I really appreciate how the worst part of evolution in this game is being tedious. I've gotten to use so many pokemon I never have before.
I spent mostly getting the pokemon I needed through luck and I agree it is a bit tedious as most of them I too had never used, such as all of the Eevee evolutions. As far as I am considered, Basculin is the hardest to catch followed by Cherubi and Cherrim.
@@articuno8565I am aware. I found the Moss Rock and simply caught a Glaceon in the Time Distortions. Most of the pokemon evolutions, like Gengar and Alakazam I intend to just catch their alphas rather than spend ages leveling up or using the trade links as so far I managed to get lucky and get 3, yet since I have mostly been focusing on doing the pokedex and about to take on Electrode noble, I figure I wait until I encounter the alpha Machamp as most pokedex entries require certain moves at higher levels that I simply wait to catch that pokemon later which makes filling out the entry easier.
@@gerriejordaan8385 good strategy! I got lucky this evening and caught a shiny alpha gyrados using that mass outbreak strat. Those time distortions give a ton of linking cables
I somehow dodged getting a Slyveon and got an Espeon like I always wanted, despite not knowing about Fairy Type moves being required for the former. Maybe I was lucky…..
I almost fell for that trap, too. But, fortunately, I remembered that Fairy move crap while being indecisive about whether I wanted an Umbreon or an Espeon.
Sylveon was also my first Eevee I evolved in Legends, but in my case it's the one I wanted lol. I remembered from swsh about the fairy type move thing and had to reteach it baby doll eyes.
Well I caught an alpha sligoo who was lvl 50, I looked up how to evolve it and when I checked my game 5 seconds later I noticed it was raining....how handy
@@kamentrainerhorn2073 for a lot of these evos just knowing the move they need gives you the option like piloswine. As soon as you teach him Ancient power you can evolve him. No level up needed
@@kamentrainerhorn2073 the new way for evolutions just makes more sense and that the fact that needing a level up pass a certain level with a move was literally just because they didn't have a way to trigger evolution without level up or item
Well, glad I saw this before trying to evolve the first and last entries. For Wyrdeer and Overqwil, I knew about the “use move 20 times part”, but not using specific styles. For Ursaluna, I do have the peat block, but didn’t know about the full moon part. As for the others, Basculegion can be made easier by grinding on Firespit Island, and while actually evolving the others can be tedious, I’ve honestly had pretty good luck with alphas and distortions so far.
The best place I found for Overqwil was the Mirelands-all those Carnivine so desperate to attack you and weak to poison. For Wyrdeer, also Mirelands, in the swamp. All that poison.
Normal typing goes against the idea of an eevee making a choice to change. Bug makes no sense. Ghost would maybe need to kill the eevee. Flying could be done but its normally a second typing. Dragon is like big, makes no sense to change. Elemental Eevees are the only logical ones with we call fairy as the true evolution.
@@coreyclarke1604 Dragon type was actually a special type attack in Gen 1-3, so there's no reason for why we have a fairy type evolution, yet no dragon type as a counterpart.
I actually have some ideas for new eeveelutions Metaleon: (not pronounced metal-eon but instead like metallic but without the ic part). Just evolves with a metal coat. Minereon: rock type pokemon evolves when you give eevee a stone ( an item that i came up with. It is just a normal stone that can only be obtained with a 5% chance of dropping from a geodude, looks like a normal stone) Petroleon: a poisoned type that can be obtained by finding a ball of sludge (could be found when following a poison type if they have the pokemon outside like they did in legends arceus, the let's go games, and I think sword and shield which I've never played in scarlet and violet ) and taking it to a lab ( if there is one in scarlet and violet ) and like the process for fossil pokemon, you would get the pokemon or in this case, you would get the item which would be called the sludge rock. You would give the sludge rock to eevee and you got petroleon. Grifeon just a smaller griffin but instead of a bird head it's more like the other eeveelutions. It evolves by being at a high point (on a mountain or flying) while having an eevee one slot above a flying type in the party... Can't think of anything for dragon, bug, ground, ghost, or normal. If I think of any I will edit the reply. If you reply to my reply with another eeveelution for that type I can edit it and edit it into this reply with credit to you of course, only if you want me to
I consider myself an experienced Pokémon vet and the sylveon evolution happened to me. You’re right, I was very confused when I thought I was getting umbreon lol
6:14 very true, this is my first Pokémon game since gold/silver. This is the Pokémon game I’ve always imagined, just need more Npc battles in the next one.
Jolteon wasn't all that hard to get for me, since I got the Thunder Stone needed right before I was able to use Wyrdeer on the field. I think it was random, though. As for Goodra, I ended up catching that alpha Sliggoo in the Mirelands and evolving it immediately after.
Stantler and Qwilfish were the 2nd hardest for me. Eevee I didn't have problems. Just had them smash rock and trees Porygon was a breeze without having to trade Gible caught EXP from just being in the party Caught alpha Sliggoo so just needed rain which didn't take long Basculin I just trained of Firespin Island against Magmar and Graveler and was done in a few minutes
Go to an area filled with gravelers and start battling them. They have a chance of dropping the black augurite if they faint. Took me around 30 min to get this item
Honestly the peatblock, move requirements and recoil damage are ones I probably wouldn't have figured out on my own, lvl grinding was as easy as it always was so personaly those don't even make the list to me, also the game gives my my own personal rain cloud for what has felt like 50% of my play through so far. Nice list.
Now, the next question is which of the Gen 8, damage related evolutions is harder? Runerigus, or Basculegion. I think Runerigus is harder to figure out, but Basculegion is harder to do.
I just caught Alpha Gabite at level 55 (caught next to the low 20's Gibles) and evolved as soon as. Couldn't be bothered with leveling up a 20s Gible when my team was early 50's
I can see why the Eeveelutions are here, if you are a first time player then Sylveon would catch you by surprise say if you wanted Umbreon. It would suck even more if you had a Shiny Eevee and wanted Shiny Umbreon, forgot to save before evolving, and BANG Shiny Sylveon. Not speaking from personal experience. As for me, I would say Ursaluna was obviously the hardest, followed by Basculegion. Which was funny because my Basculin was Shiny and I had no idea how to evolve it. LOL
I think the Sylveon bit is also factored by the fact that Legends Arceus is a Sinnoh game, so not many would expect any post-Gen 4 Pokemon other than the ones already announced at the time. So, one would think that there was no way Sylveon is in the game until it's too late.
For the clefairy quest in the game to figure out when a full moon was i just grabbed an ursaring and a peat block and waited until it could evolve. The rideable mons were the hardest to evolve for me because it does not specifically say within the game how to do it which is frustrating. I lovee the link cable what a useful item.
My pain evolution had to be Ursaluna, it took me forever to dig up the item, and I must have just missed the full moon because that also took forever resetting for. I stay far far away from any Tediursas cause I dont want the heartbreak of finding a shiny and having to grind again for the full moon. The one I have on my team is perfect hahahah. Im pretty sure its my strongest pokemon attack wise other than kleavor on my team.
I evolved my ursaring from a teddiursa at level 30 as usual, I looked up how to get ursaluna and there was a full moon one night but I didn't have peat moss but it took me forever to find a peat moss and then sleeping until night time over and over until it appeared and I evolved it
I, an older Pokémon fan player, was surprised by the Sylveon evolution change. It wasn't until a friend of mine tell me did I find out. I kept thinking "man, if Eevee is getting friendly that fast how am I ever going to get Umbreon or Espeon..." lol
When I played through it was weird how cherrim was damn near impossible to catch. I mean seriously, legendaries were easier to catch. I did see in the update log that this was a glitch that got patched so I'm very glad Nintendo took notice.
Honestly, I didn't even know that Cherrim was so difficult until I read about it online. I've only come across three Cherrim, out of which I caught two and accidentally killed the third (luckily, by that point the Dex entry was complete so no worries). And that was before any update regarding the matter. In fact, I'd say I'm having more trouble with the pre-evolution, Cherubi. Ain't seen a single one of those yet.
honestly i did not know you can evolve of them that way... thank you so much for this video. because of your video i only have 3 pokemons left to complete my pokedex. which are arceus, Enamorous and spiritomb
“Catch an Alpha Sliggoo in the Mirelands to get Goodra.” Um… does he not know that there’s an Alpha Goodra in the Coronet Highlands? There’s also an Alpha Garchomp in the Alabaster Icelands (and an Alpha Gabite in the Coronet Highlands). It’s totally possible to get these dragons without evolving any of their first two evolutions.
I found Ursaluna to be the hardest one to obtain. Despite looking online for where to find the peat block, the only one I found was by happenstance by finishing the Gone Astray quests which was never mentioned. Arceus help me if I ever want a shiny one. I doubt I'll ever get another one.
It took about ten minutes to evolve both overquill and wyrdeer. I just wiped the floor with level 4 shinx all over the obsidian field. So while it seems tediius, it’s not so bad. The only hard part is figuring out you need to use one specific move in one specific style 20 times. The eevolutions was kind of obvious to me and I never played any game but Go and Go Eevee.
The thing is, i knew about the fairy type move for Sylveon. I just completely forgot or didn't realize the eevee I caught gained baby doll eyes after i caught it. Took me a few times before i suddenly clued in and facepalmed. lol
I stealth spray+razz berry+ gigaton ball+back striked the alpha Garchomp in the Icelands to add a second Garchomp to my dex (The first I raised from a Gible I caught in Wayward Cave) That felt more intense a scenario than half of the lord battles 😅
My 1st eevee was ready to evolve before she even learned baby doll eyes. I kind wish I would have let her become a sylveon or espeon though bc I don't like having male sylveons and it's the only female eevee I've found so far
I had heard about the Ursaluna evolution from somewhere, but did not worry about that for awhile. Found a peat block not too long after getting the Ursaluna mount, and then recently while hunting an alpha Infernape, I noticed that I had a full moon, so I warped back to camp and used the stored peat block on my alpha Ursaring to get my Ursaluna.
For my play through to get certain evolution for pokemon like stanler and qwilfish I just murdered every pokemon I find and repeat the same method when run out of moves. So you know just having fun!
Gets peat block from quest. Gets alpha ursaring. Camps out in coronet highlands for full moon to do clefairy quest and evolve in one go. Gets distracted by distortion. Gets stun-locked and dies. Loses Peat block despite having charms.
4:43 its hard to get the eeveelutions at the begining of the game but late to post game is easy. You should have the stones by then and if not you can get the pouches from the 5 maps to get 2 or 3 stones and happiness actually maxes out really fast if you feed it exp candy.
So I was doing the clefairy quest that also involves a full moon, thinking it'd take me forever I just randomly checked the area and the cutscene started....I HIGHTAILED it back to camp, not fast traveling thinking it'd change the time, to evolve my alpha ursuring. Most heart racing moment in the game for me 😂
I noticed that Basculin does not require any of its species to be defeated. Can someone please tell me all of the Pokémon that are not starters, legendary, or Mythical Pokémon that do not require any to be defeated? I don’t want to hurt wild Pokémon that are just walking without catching them. KO ing them sounds to cruel.
I actually threw out my Peat Block because I didn't know what it was for... Thank goodness I found another one on my third try whilst searching for it again.
i disagree with a couple of evolutions on your list. eeveelutions, Togepi and riolu (and some others) require max friendship, these are equally as hard since it's a grind. All the level ones you mentioned make no sense since you can catch them fairly early on and the levels in this game are pretty easy. Plus you can catch the final evolutions fairly easily of both gloomy and gible
Indeed, I was also surprised that Cherubi, cherrim wasn't the hardest. I've made basculegion, wyrdeer and ursaluna but I only have 1 cherubi. Its such a grind going in and out of the map just looking for shaking trees
Did you know theirs an alpha gabite not gible in the coronet highlands area? Its on the higher hillside and its lvl 44 i believe so I found it kinda hard to believe this man found a gible and that was his only find... The n
Next Pokemon Game is gonna have a Pokemon that only evolves at level 69 with a shiny stone during a snowstorm on a Tuesday at 11:46 P.M. while holding your console sideways and shoving a carrot in your eyesocket
Porygon and Porygon-Z I found in distortion. Ursaluna was the weirdest one because first I thought it was something for the moon because of the name. Didn't know till I got the peat block it was used for it too.
I knew about ursas evo method but it wasn’t a challenge. I found 2 peat blocks back to back as soon as I used the ride ursa. Then when I went to do the lilligant battle, I opened my menu to save and my cursor was on the peat block and it showed compatible so I figured there was a full moon out and evolved it right away. Now I found a shiny ursaring and just slept 3 times before it said compatible. The rest I’ve evolved easily too (and as an eevee main, I knew the sylveon requirements) but the most tedious for sure was quil/stantler. Basculegion is pretty easy even if you don’t know, as wave crash looks really cool and is strong.
i got porygon in my second space distortion along with the two items needed for its further evoltion. i thought it was easy until now and as for ursaluna, the first time i tried the treasure hunting feauture, the first item to spawn was a peat block. i was extremely luck with these evolution
Grachomp is actually fairly easy, due to Alpha Gabite spawning at lvl 54 in the Highlands. Caught one, gave it a candy and had a Alpha Garchomp before the Electrode trial.
Ursaluna's isnt the worst but it is kinda annoying having to wait til the right moon phase. Luckily sleeping makes it go by faster. Now Basculegion is pretty annoying but mostly cause Basculin is tough to catch without smoke bombs or accidentally scaring them away
It took me so long to evolve Stantler because I didn't know I had to use Agile style. I must've killed dozens of Gastly, Haunter and Croagunk with Psyshield Bash while trying to evolve it. The good thing is that at least I found a random shiny Haunter while doing this, so there's that hahah
having used ursaluna i can say its worth it so danm much it has insane bulk insane attack that in most cases just blow up any pokemon it faces if it lands a move
Given the backstory for Basculegion I thought the way you evolved Basculin was that you had to have 5 other fainted Basculin in your party and evolve the last one standing.
It was post-game, unfortunately, but I encountered at random a wild Scyther, thought about those sharp things collecting dust in my collection, and thought, "Oh yeah!" Kleavor time, and Shiny at that!
Dude I was so pissed when eevee evolved into Sylveon. I was about to have my first ever umbreon and I had forgot to save before so the reset erased a whole night of grinding
You can easily get an alpha gabite in the coronet highlands, which is already high enough level to evolve. It's not too tough. And if you still need gible for the Pokedex, it spawns right next to gabite. Granted, giblets only level 22, but if you're insisting on raising it from a gible when gabite is right there, that's more you choosing to make it tedious.
You just describe the entire event with my eevee, I also did not realize that you need a full moon to evolve ursaring when I first got the block I used at the moment I got it weird.
I agree with Garchomp being on the list. I’m using one on my team since I found it as a shiny Gible when I encountered a outbreak of Gible in the alabasta islands. I know shiny Garchomp isn’t the best shiny Pokémon but I always set a rule for myself to always use any natural shiny I find when playing through a Pokémon game
Honestly the level requirement isn't too terrible. Just go to the alpha Blissey in Obsidian Fieldlands. It gives a good amount of exp and can drop large exp candies.
I didn't find Garchomp nearly as tedious as other games. I got a gabite (or is the first gible? don't remember) in a cave in the electrode area. But even then, catch yourself alphas with them on the team, fight pokemon in the higher levels. I used grits and stuff, but once it was the middle evolution, I was easily beating luxrays with bulldoze strong moves. 🤷🏼♀️ Hit that alpha Rapidash for easy exp points too.
For Ursaluna, the only real hint for full moon was the ridable ursaluna face. Its a full moon, that and the fact i found a peatblock early in mirelands and never saw it before so i knew it was a new evolution item was the only real clues one could find. As for basculegion, wave crash 8 times with same pokemon was enough to evolve for me, so there is that. Honestly, the eeveeloutions were easy as throwing eevee at rocks and trees rose its friendship enough to evolve before babydoll eyes for espeon and umbreon. Im just glad a lot of the pokemon can be caught in the wild (either as an alpha or in a distortion)
Full moon with clouds on Ursaluna’s face and look at the stars at night for the moon. Ursa for the star reference and Luna for the moon. -possible hints
Honestly I didn’t know garchomp was hard since I just caught the alpha in coronet and was around lvl 50 something and was able to get garchomp very easily
If you don't like leveling up your gible or sligoo just catch their evolved alpha versions in the icelands, I caught both garchomp and goodra both of which were level 70-80 when caught
I feel Kleavor and Ursaluna were the hardest because of the peat block being mainly found through chance, and the black augurate outside of one quest mainly being a 5-8% drop item from graveler
Well what if there is still going to be more hisian Eevee evolution in DLC packs of Pokémon legends arceus like drakeon dragon 🐉 type Eevee evolution and phantomeon ghost 👻 type Eevee evolution and metaleon steel⚙️ type Eevee evolution and brawleon fighting 🔷 type Eevee evolution
Played 90hours and completed the dex without looking up anything. For sure Ursaluna was a pain to figure out! The rest was kinda easy to get. Would have liked it if legendairies and mythicals where a bit harder. Oh well enjoyed the heck out of it!!
I found the full moon feature via a certain quest. Then it hit me. UrsaLUNA! And it's head have a full moon design. But my only mistake is I used a moon stone at the very first. Later to test all the evolution stone. Eventually. Ursaluna :D
The first place is what I learned that it was VERY ANNOYING. And don’t forget luck two. Also I accidentally find a peat block in the alabaster Iceland without the quest
Garchomp shouldn't be much of a challenge. By the highlands you can get an alpha Gabite at a pretty high level and at that point in the game you should have a bunch of exp candies.
A work around for garchomp is to just catch an alpha. Arceus is extremely is when catching alphas. You can also catch an alpha Gabite on the highlands map and just automatically evolve it
It’s not that bad. Trade evolutions were always the worst for me - I had nobody around to trade Pokemon with. So imagine how excited I was when I was finally able to get that Golem or Alakazam thanks to online trade. After years and years of playing Pokémon… Now you have all the tools to pull this of.
