I went to Oregon one year ago and despite the fact that the trip was quite long (I live in France), I can for sure say it was the best place I've ever visited. Landscapes are just incredible and so are the people
***** I've been to Portland and I've of course seen poor people on the streets, we were supposed to help in a sup kitchen aha, it was first of all an humanitary trip :) but compared to France, trust me, I think there are less homeless people in Oregon ; anyway poverty is such a thing to blame no matter the country, but infortunately it's a reality that does exist. We've got to fight against it, but it's a reality that exists all around the world... which doesn't mean it makes a country/ a state look better or worse
Garrettp375 Yeah, I agree. Usually your favorite state is your own, but for me it's different. I live in Oregon, just outside of Portland actually. Oregon is definitely my 3rd favorite state, though (just after Washington and Alaska). I do a lot of traveling in both OR and WA, and from my experience, Washington's stuff is a bit more impressive and "big." Literally big, as in Mount Rainier and eNorth Cascades National Park.
Every year I come from Sydney Australia to Visit Oregon (I really do - it's like my second home I say), and is my favourite state of the USA. There is so much to see and do.
wow! I live in Oregon and I just got back home two days ago from a trip where I spent a few days in Sydney. I really loved visiting and it was pretty much my first time going to somewhere far from the states. so awesome that you love oregon! I love it here too but it's hard for me to see it as a tourist destination hahaha
Kami Nagi Kami you lucky.. little.. person :P The atmosphere and nature.. I'm totally jelaous. I always wanted to visit and maybe stay there for a little while (a little longer while) but that is just my plan for the future.. Oregon is my most-like-to visit place. Right now I'm stuck in the middle of the Europe and for another five years I will be studying at the university.. But I hope my traveling plans will get lucky and maybe I'll get to see you someday. :)
Oregon is ridiculously beautiful... when I moved away I thought I was crazy for a little bit because I talked about Oregon so much, until I realized that other people from Oregon do the same thing, because it is AMAZINGLY beautiful. Even if it does rain a lot.
I'm happy I was born and raised in Oregon because I love the way the morning Sky looks during a sunny day, especially the smell! OOOOOH lordy lordy that smell of the morning.
I moved to Oregon 2 years ago and LOVE IT! There's still many places in this state that I still haven't explored.. Painted Hills are high up on my list. 👍
Timenos I'll give you tips cuz I've been born and raised there. Tip 1: Never, and I mean NEVER EVER go to Todd village that is the most shittiest place in Oregon in my opinion Tip 2: go to Tualatin l, it is the best place there and if you do go to Tualatin then go to the Tualatin heights because it is an amazing place to go cuz they have a public pool, jacuzzi baths, and 2 bathrooms. And lastly tip 3: if you want to go to a good buffet, go to super kings buffet, because that shit is DELICIOUS!!!
I moved to Oregon two years ago after many trips to vacation here. I live in Bandon on the coast and it's beautiful. Never a dull moment and the scenery never ends. Do I regret moving here......NOPE !
Stephen G It's 40 and rainy from Sept-May in the valley (where Portland is). 50 and rainy on the coast every month except Aug. Cold as hell Oct-May in eastern Oregon, hot as hell otherwise. 50 and meh in Southern Oregon and hot as hell otherwise.
Proxus It was never based on a true story. The mystery shack was based on a real place, the Orgeon Vortex, and some of the characters where based on real people, and that's it. Also, I think the original commenter isn't stupid enough to think that it's real.
+Joschaxda You could just look it up, but basically there's a standing and slanted shack that has weird and mysterious things happen around it. For instance, if you stand inside of it, you feel like you're on even ground instead of on a slanted floor.

Acardia Bay is a fictive town of Oregon, inspired by Tillamook Bay right next to the US 101. Lightning bugs are here for the scenery, don't need to be so realistic :)
It's pretty cold here. When it's like 80 degrees or more it's about 50 degrees or less :\ It really sucks but not really because I least we don't have to be sweating. The highest we had here in oregon was about 109 degrees, but that was ages ago actually years. Oregon seems really really nice because of the trees and other stuff , but Honestly that's like at the borders or something when you're in the middle kind of its like a BIG CITY! Not really big, but it's like Los Angeles except LESS TRAFFIC! Only in Portland there's traffic, but no so much where you have to wait an hour just to go to a store that is about 20 miles away :) Anyways just search up ugly things in Oregon or something! I don't know?
+Tootsie Roll This place has much more, you can find special places/landmarks you don't find anywhere else. Oregon has forests, farms, an ocean, epic beaches/coast, great rivers to swim, raft, wind surf, etc, lakes, deserts, high deserts, volcanoes, mountains, rainforests, rock formations, farms, urban areas, gorges, cliffs, caves, hills, and much more, I am forgetting some.
Never been to Oregon, I was born in California, then went to Vegas, than back to California, and went to Michigan which is where I reside to this day, and I got to say that it's beautiful up here in Michigan
I live near the Columbia River Gorge, and I gotta say he's right. If you drive further along the Gorge you'll see some views alright, but they're just as pretty on the other side of the river if you're going towards Hamilton Mt. Definitely regret not getting out to explore the whole state, but maybe the opportunity might present itself one day.

I'm Australian and my brother and I will be visitin Oregon in October for around 4-5 days, only problem is, as much as I want to see all I can. We have no mode of transport out from Portland where all the cool sights are :(
I live in Southern Oregon and definitely have lots of beauty here.. Upper Rogue, lower Rogue, Tokatee Falls to name a few... The Sisters, Mt Bachelor,Deschutes River and. Mckenzie River in Central Oregon are beautiful as well. Good job in narrowing things down to 7 though... I was always under the impression that. Crater Lake WAS one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World though!
Yes, it is a wonderful place, but religion has nothing to do with it. Stop giving people credit that doesn't deserve it. The painted hills are a good example, you can see the layers of time stacked over millions of years. Open your mind, stop believing a 2k-year-old book and look at the millions of years old mountains.

MindCrime Don’t generalize. Many Christians believe in science, the old earth theory, and evolution. I absolutely love science and geology. Many Christians are also liberal and environmentalists, like myself. I’ve hiked across hundreds of miles in Oregon; including the painted hills. And yes, the science behind their formation is quite fascinating. Unlike what most Christians are brainwashed to believe, the Bible actually supports the old earth theory. And as for evolution, that is neither proven nor disproven in the Bible. It all comes down to literal vs. metaphorical interpretations. I’m on your side, by the way! ;)

They did't really mention the awesome views and endless sights of southern Oregon, with the exception of Crater Lake. Steens Mountain, anyone? Plus, Klamath Lake happens to be one of the largest fresh water lakes in the US. All of Oregon is beautiful.
I lived in California their pollution and drought pushed me away, went to Washington ,but is too corporate like California and not environment friendly also like California . Oregon has it all :D .. I'am glad I ended up here by accident, or by nature :D haha

The Evergreen State has so much beauty to offer, whether it be Mount Rainier NP, Olympic NP, San Juan Islands, The Scablands, Palouse Falls, Dry Lakes, North Cascades NP, Olympic rainforests, Seattle, Mount St. Helens, Leavenworth, Mount Baker, Diablo Lake, Hood Canal, Mt. Adams, Enchantment Lakes, Lake Chelan, Mount Shuksan,... I could keep on going but I will stop! XD
These are only the beginning. There is a place called Spring Creek where you can bend down and drink frigid crystal clear water out of a natural fountain. There is an unnamed pond that is the only pond in Oregon with Golden Trout. There is a hot spring overlooking an incredible waterfall. There is a lake with a beautiful sandy bottom that lays beyond the end of the trail. There is a rarely visited gorgeous grotto falls above a famous waterfall. There is a sub-alpine meadow that explodes in wildflowers. There is a spring that emerges and flows over a 50 foot waterfall under a lightening rod of a Cascade peak that only a few people and the elk visit 5 miles past the end of the trail. There is a sand dune in the middle of the desert. There is a Crater Lake in miniature. There is a smooth bedrock stream covered in thick moss with 12" salamanders protected by huge trees. There is the most amazing canyon filled with house size black boulders and flaming red vine maple. . There are two rivers that flow straight into each other. There is a roaring river the flows into a creek. There are two blue pools. There is a cave from which the river Styx flows. Seven is just a start. If you know even half these places, you are a real Oregonian and you will remain silent. See you there....
im glad i live in oregon i was born in arizona and at 3 months i went to oregon family divorce.. why oregon is best place its not so busy when washington and that is we dont have taxed when buying food.....we like never got a disease here
