Thanks! I got the Rolodex and the Col-o-Dex ink swatching cards for Christmas (I have a video about it!), but I have been wanting to add more cards to it so it will spin better. 😂 I found a stash of old Rolodex cards at a garage sale last weekend and knew this would be a good use for them! I already track my pen + ink combos in other places, but what I’m hoping is that this will just show me what pens I haven’t used in a while.
The partial inking you do is so savvy. I don't so much get tired of a pen as I get tired of an ink. Never dawned on me that I could not fully fill a pen and switch more often deliberately *because I want to.* Who is this bad-tempered minder in my head who says I must suffer at all times in all ways?????😆
Hahaha. We are trained through beginner pen videos on HOW TO GET THE FULLEST FILL, so that seems like what to goal should be. But I usually have 20ish pens inked, so I’m not needing to have super full pens when I’m heading to work or anything. This has been so freeing… until I look in my drawer and have 36 pens to clean, like I did recently. 😳
Absolutely... I have never filled. aoen all the way in years iof using them... except cartidges and I sometimes take those out halfway too and store for later use. Banish the naysayers that live on our shoulder!
I started playing around with different styles of cursive letters in grade school too! Watching fountain pen videos has helped me to find better shapes for my cursive letters. Up to this day I’m still working on my cursive. I enjoyed hearing your answers to these questions and seeing your beautiful pens! I feel the same way about so many things that you said. Thanks for doing the tag! I also just posted a video of this tag.
I gave away Nitrogen too! 😂 I love your peach dish too. I’ve loved seeing your pen eye candy while you’ve talked too. You have great insight on your pens and inks and your feelings on your collection. You’ve made me want to try a Kara’s Custom and a Franklin Christoff. Is that how you spell it? Loved your videos and am already a subscriber. I loved your video on pens you’d repurchase too. It made me make a list of repurchase pens for myself too.
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🥰 Yes- go look at Franklin-Christoph and Karas Kustoms! I had a beautiful teal and copper KK fountain pen. I just couldn’t get along with all the metal! But they do wonderful work. F-C is like the complete opposite - no metal anywhere but the nib! Lol. I’ve enjoyed these videos from everyone so much! Glad to get to know you a bit! 😊
This reminds of learning that you don’t have to COVER one’s toothbrush with a thick ribbon of toothpaste - that’s for toothpaste commercials 😉 Great video Sarah 💫
I enjoyed your video so much and picked up some great tips!!! I'm definitely going to start smaller fills in my pens I think that will really help my wanting to try different inks and rotate pens more!!! You have a very beautiful collection... I spied a pen on my wishlist the Benu Unicorn!!!! It's so much fun watching all the response videos to these questions!!! 🙂
Thank you Chris! We have been trained up to get the Fullest Fill Possible every time, but it occurred to me one day that I don’t have to do that! 😂 And the Benu Unicorn is so special. Azizah did a wonderful job with it! I’m loving these videos too!
Thank you so much! 🥰 Yes, we’re sort of trained from the beginning how to get the maximum amount of ink in our pens. But no one mentions that you don’t have to! 😂 It was an epiphany for me!
I had no idea there is a Montblanc 149 highlighter! I chuckled when I heard that. I also love saturated jewel toned inks! Amazing… 🤩 thanks for sharing, loved hearing your responses!
That highlighter is so ridiculous but it’s awesome! My dad went back to school later in life and he used it all the time! Thanks Liane! This was so fun!
Okay so I think it’s actually called the Le Grand highlighter. He has the Le Grand highlighter, rollerball, and ballpoint. But they’re the larger 149 size, I believe. I think 149 might just be the name for the fountain pen!
@@gingerpeachy The 149 is only a fountain pen. The breakdown is thus: 1 for the Meisterstuck line; 4 for the piston filler, though the 145 is a C/C - go figure; and 9 in this case is the size of the nib. The other names for the models are The Classique - 145, The LeGrande - 146. The Diplomat - 149. Pelikan also makes a highlighter in the M200 range with refillable highlighter ink.
I am in need of knowing what that pen that is pink on the ends and then like a blue in the middle with tons of glitter flakes is. As well as the one that looks like a mosaic. They are *so pretty* Edit: I went and stalked your instagram and found them...
Glad you found them! I’m not sure if Gourmet Pens will restock the Benu True Unicorn - I know she tries to restock things that are popular so more people can have access to them, so I’d follow her to keep an eye out! And Little Pen Designs makes his Candy Nougat pens on commission, I believe!
They doooo! It's sort of hard to understand why, because it's not like plastic is soft. But metal just feels harder and colder and more slippery, usually!
I would love to participate in the 8 questions, but I didn’t get them all listed throughout the video. I’ll rewatch and organize. Thanks for the inspiration. 🖋❤️
How would you compare the #6 Jowo nibs on the Laban 325, Franklin Christoph, and Esterbrook Estie? Are there any notable differences between the companies?
There are no notable differences between Laban and Esterbrook, in my opinion. They are pretty standard Jowo nibs. I've had some issues with a couple of my Esties, which tells me that they don't do much testing before the pen goes out the door. But they were awesome and sent a replacement. I only have two Laban pens, both mediums, and they seem pretty standard to me. I'm not sure Franklin-Christoph uses Jowo nibs. Theirs are called "High Performance Steel," and their website says each nib goes through a 7-step tune-and-smooth process before being shipped out. I have never received a Franklin-Christoph pen with a less than perfect nib! Whether or not they are Jowo, they are awesome.
@@gingerpeachy wow, thank you for the explanation! I'd love to try an FC pen someday. I really like the look of the Model 31 in salmon glow and nuclear green, but it's sold out.
I have a couple of questions if that is okay! First, where do you sell the pens you've decided are just not for you? (I have a few that meet that mark already, unfortunately.) Second, how do you stay on top of all of the new releases from all of the makers? For example, I am DEAD that I didn't know about the Benu Unicorn until a month later. I'll be stalking their website, but do you just follow all of the pen shops? Thank you!! I love your aesthetic!
I’m so glad to answer questions! I usually offer up pens first on my IG stories. Sometimes I sell on the VirtualPenShow (on IG), which just costs $3 to list. Sometimes I’ll sell on Mercari or eBay. It just depends on what I feel like doing, lol. And, I don’t intentionally keep up with all the new releases. I follow a ton of people on IG and RU-vid, I listen to a couple of pen podcasts (Been listening to The Pen Addict for 8+ years! And the Gourmet Pens Club is delightful!), and I get emails from a few retailers. Azizah at Gourmet Pens is super approachable- send her a message and ask about the Unicorn. If she’s getting more in stock (she already restocked once!), she might hold one for you!
Cassia is an awesome purple! If you are in the US and you needed some pen stuff, the R&K 50 ml bottles are only $5.50ish from Cult Pens. I was already ordering a pen, so I had free shipping (over $135), so it was a great opportunity to get inks for cheap! The 30 ml diamine bottles are like $2.70ish!!
@@gingerpeachy In Europe Diamine, KWZ and R&K are way cheaper than here in the US. Rhodia and Clairefontaine too at both Cult and Appelboom. But yes you need to get that free shipping or it's better to get it here.
I don't know if you can order from AliExpress, but a lot of people buy them from there. They are also called the Platinum Shooting Star, so look for that! I hope you can find one!
I loved this! I am with you on not needing (or wanting) ink a pen to its full capacity. Also, I have so much ink that it's also ok with me if I don't use all of the ink that's in a pen. That's probably heresy, but I'm ok with that.
Glad I’m not the only one! Sometimes it’s almost a relief to just clean an inked pen I haven’t been enjoying so I can stop feeling like I need to keep using it. I’m about to pull about 5 pens from my case and just put them in my “to be cleaned,” because I’m about tired of them. I’m ready to freshen up my pen cases! Lol
Also I don’t remember if I commented. But I loved your video too! So fun to go on a hike with you. I really felt it in my legs 😂 But really, it’s a great video!
