I remember seeing the poster for Visiting Hours as a kid and wanting to see it because of Shatner, but I was too young. Rented it anyway when it came to VHS and it scared the poop out of me. I also remember Death Screams (though I think it was called Night Screams), because my mom must have thought it was going to be somehow a wholesome flick. With a name like that. She was traumatized.
That German filming technique from The House Where Evil Dwells sounds like a variation of Pepper's Ghost. 🙂 EDIT-- If threatened by giant supernaturally-motivated crabs, just toss a couple into boiling water; the rest will take the hint and leave pretty quick. 😀
Michael Ironside is great in so many horror movies, from Scanners, (Ofcourse) Visiting hours, Prom Night 2, and American Nightmare!! He never seems to let me down in his horror performances
I LOVE WHAT YOU ARE DOING. WHEN THIS IS ALL FINISHED I'M GONNA WATCH IT ALL OVER AGAIN AND PROBABLY REFER TO THESE VIDEOS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE TO GIVE ME IDEAS FOR MOVIES TO WATCH LOL , THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HARD WORK!
I think Josh is way too nice to some of the films he reviews, even the ones he doesn't care for, he still gives them mild praise for some aspect. It would be awesome to see Josh do a list of films he really hates and gets angry at, just for a change of pace lol An 'Angry Josh' video 🤣
I caught Death Screams on a TBS late night airing when I was in high school. It was the entire last 30 minutes. The grave death scene and the…errr..staircase moment made a huge impression and I hunted for the title forever. I believe it’s now available on Blu-ray?
I was super excited when I saw the thumbnail for this video visiting hours is possibly my holy Grail of movies I'm a huge shatner fan I've seen everything shatner's done but on the flip side I'm also a huge Michael Ironside fan I've seen everything he's done so that when they were this movie together it was like just such an incredible moment for me. Seriously you give me a movie with William shatner and Michael Ironside and it's done I'm glad to see that it got at least a three tape I probably have given it a 3 and 1/2 It's definitely not a four but I thoroughly enjoyed visiting hours
Funny...i saw The Nelsons open for The Beach Boys. And they did a little tribute to his dad at the end with Garden Party. And you have the same birthday as my dad 😎
I remember catching "The House Where Evil Dwells" on cable back in the early 80s. (Probably either Showtime or the Movie Channel, they had a more interesting lineup back then.) I think it freaked me out most because I had JUST learned about coconut crabs shortly before seeing it.
I just realized your 80’s project will cover Slaughter High in the future. Can’t explain my love for that film, but glad it will finally get covered. Love this series!!!
This is glorious your Sci-Fi is glorious your 30’s list is glorious. Now go listen to Bobby Roode’s Theme Glorious (Flash Gordon vibes) It’s all about your effort in this genre 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Only seen Death Valley and Visiting Hours once each. For some reason, I always thought Death Valley came after A Christmas Story. As for the disco Amityville theme, that is on the original LP soundtrack from the 1979 movie. Same thing was done on the original 1977 soundtrack for Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Guess everything back then had to be done in disco. Thankfully, I don't think they did that with Jaws.
I'm gonna go ahead and say Don't skip The Dorm that Dripped Blood. It has some cool kills, the characters are interesting and the ending is actually pretty different from most 80's slashers. I love the look and feel of the film. It's a good cozy slasher which I love. I hope people will give this one a shot because it's a pretty good slasher.
Thank you again Josh!! I am ALWAYS looking forward to a new episodes and all of your videos tbh but this is my favorite of all!! This is hands down the BEST series on RU-vid imo, see you on the next one, can't wait!!
You know.. I watched Visiting Hours many years ago and remember thinking it was a really good movie, but it seems that most people think it's average at best.
I just recently watched visiting hours again love that movie. Forbidden planet is the one I like the best of this group the other ones I've never heard of but I have picked my curiosity.
I actually just recently got FORBIDDEN WORLD on bluray a couple months back. I haven't scene it since around 1984, but, I remember it fondly for all the blood and boobies. It's the only Corman sci-fi/horror movie that I consider a classic.
My birthday is tax day too!!!! I knew you were awesome. The best people are born on April 15th. To make up for the tax day. Like you must pay the government but here's some awesome people to make up for it.
@Movie Timelines: I searched for this mirror technique online and I can tell you, "Schaufthausen" is not a german word that is making any sense, nor is it a verb. It sounds a little bit like the city name Schaffhausen, which is in Switzerland. Either it is heavy mispelled or made up.
1982 was an AMAZING year in film, including horror! I'm excited for what's right around the corner: POLTERGEIST, THE THING, FRIDAY THE 13TH: 3-D, CREEPSHOW, HALLOWEEN 3 and THE AMITYVILLE HORROR 2.😈😈
I always say, if you like the desert and walking around, you'll like Oasis of the Zombies lol and the better Daphne horror movie is the initiation. And who doesn't love Michael Ironside lol he is iconic. And Ghost Nursing sounds like the hong kong r*pe revenge film that has the supernatural swing I like
5:01. He isn't The Rock. Dwayne Johnson was nine or ten years old at the time of this films release. That's Chin-lai Sung who had been appearing in films regularly since 1972, the same year that Dwayne/The Rock was born. In fact he appeared in four films in 1972.
@@MrMeatHook I know the the facial similarity is what makes it work. I just thought that someone other than myself might be interested in who the regular sized Chinese man that looks like the huge Afro-Samoan man really is.
I don't find Death Screams dull at all. I care about characters and if the characters are interesting in some way I'm in. Dude, you are dismissing these movies too quickly. Some of the ones you are giving negative reviews to are actually decent. Personally, I don't think you should say something is worthy of watching or skipping because everyone is different and likes different things. Just give the review and leave it up to the viewer. I mean honestly, I think Next of Kin is insanely boring because the main character was so bland and dull and I didn't care what happened to her but you liked it. That's great and I would never tell someone to skip this movie. I'd just say it wasn't my thing
I like some of just Francos film some of them that one Oasis of the zombies. I have that on a collection of horror movies. I’m sorry that one is just so boring. I’m sorry and there’s not enough blood and guts for me. I’m a go or how to extend an uncertain movies the French extreme I can’t deal with but I like old Italian 70s and 80s greenhouse films but I just did not like that. That movies way too slow for me so but yeah I agree with you so his movies are not everybody’s liking I’ve seen a couple of them, but that’s the only one that I know of him that one it’s just boring.
