Hear that engine galloping? The governor linkage has wear on it pretty good. There should be an adjustment to tighten the linkage up to stop the galloping.
I never noticed it. After we did the head gasket on the 8430 in doesn't have quite the power It did and it smoke pretty bad. We have to figure that out. Ideally I would sell the 8430 and buy a mfwd with around 300hp
@@cs-gj3yf I replaced the turbo and exhaust manifolds last spring. That fixed the power issue. Now it blows water out the overflow when it is heavily worked. Probably a head or head gasket issue. We decided we would tear it apart if it became a crippling problem but we aren't tearing into it right now
Have 2 8640's. When they are working they get a lot done. So far I've had very little issues regarding the Engine, but I also feel I'm sitting on a ticking time bomb as well. Just waiting for an Engine to go. Have a 8650 that already did. 619 Engines are not too readily available.
We lost the engine in the 8640 this spring and the transmission in the 8430. They are sitting by the shop waiting for us to decide if they are worth fixing or not.
The 8640 will have more engine problems if working hard. The frames are too flexible in those Deere 4WDs and the bigger 619 will flex the frame and the engine block itself. But that little chisel shouldn't give it much problem.
Ok thanks for that. We haven't had problems yet. We have it borrowed from the owner and he had problems with the bell housing bolts loosening after pushing silage
If you're in the USA it might be easier and cheaper for you to get and engine if needed. Here in Alberta Canada, not so easy or cheap. Not sure about the tyranny issue with the 8430, I guess it depends on how readily available your parts are and who's doing the job.. Whatever you decide to do, good luck.
