6:30 yes. any custom mechanical keyboard feels better than gaming keyboards. :) have a great day. i have a bunch of keyboards. mun, nk60, zoom tkl, and even made my own dactyl with my 3d printer. there is so much to this hobby.

I think the reason they didn't put backlit lights on it is due to it being "Retro" which means back in the day, and back in the day. They don't have backlit or RGB on keyboards.

Buy a separate numpad and put it to the left of your keyboard, that way you can use mouse and numpad simultaneously and be more productive.

What a beautiful looking keyboard. I have the Perixx Periboard which is modelled off the old IBM Model M keyboard, but will have to give this a shot in the office and maybe hook up to the amiga mini. Love your content BTW and respect for how often you upload. Absolute quality content every time.

Same, i think the numpad is a must in keyboards for everyday use. Thats why i will use this for games and moving it around or as a second keyboard. For 99usd i think it's a nice portable keyboard, and it looks awesome. I went for the Famicom version. I can't wait until it shows up.

When my budget widens again, I want to pick this up, then probably use some Hipyo Tech mods to really get that keyboard sounding thocky. I'd probably also upgrade to some tactile switches in the long run, because while linear switches are nice, I prefer a tactile bump when the key is activated.

I'm a mechanical keyboard enthusiast, my current board is a heavily modified Keychron with box jades. I really hope this keyboard starts introducing new people to mechanical keyboards, they're expensive but it's a really fun hobby.

They executed this well. Box click Whites. Closest thing to the ALPS switches they used to throw in 90's keyboards available in quantities of a bagillion. Case built to the 80's/90's plastic standard, you could do better but it's authentic. Plus cheap as these things go.

I was all ready to buy this keyboard, and then I was walking through Walmart and found a razor black widow on clearance for $30, so I am going to hold off on getting this one for a while. That being said, if they release one with a number pad, though, I am jumping all over it. I still kinda want it, though.

I had a Razer blackwidow v3 wireless that I loved for the few months it worked. Kept getting duplicate keystrokes, became extremely annoying. Happened wired or wireless, couldnt figure out what the problem was. Firmware updates etc never fixed it.

My only want here is a flat profile instead of the wedge. Otherwise this would get rid of the final wire on my desk and I’d still get mechanical keys…

Love that this thing is introducing people into the custom keyboard hobby. For everyone saying they need a number pad. I thought the same thing at first. In fact my first board came with one, it was one of the only ones that did. Eventually though I tried a TKL like this one and went down to 65% and don’t miss the number pad at all. When I need to work on spreadsheets at work I pull out my wireless number pad. Works even better because I get to put it on the left side. Trust me guys you don’t need it.

Thank you my friend for the heads up on this, I certainly wouldn't have known about it without your review, thought I do have an 8bitDo PC controller that's awesome. My order just came in and i LOVE THIS KEYBOARD for this price point. Keys are clicky smoooth. Awesome to have a bluetooth keyboard without a dongle. Backlight not required because the key spaces are so well defined, my muscle memory finds them easy. Love the NES design. It's got a wonderful weight to it. What a quality of computer life upgrade without breaking the bank. Cheers!

I feel like they missed an opportunity to make this compatible with the original Famicom's "Family Basic" as a modern replacement for the original keyboard. But as niche as that is, I can't blame them. Who knows, a future adapter can always be made available.

Curious if keys are ghosted or if you can actually use it for say CoD games. I ask because I had an old 2008 Logitech illuminated keyboard with sweet laptop feeling keys...works great with FPS. Decided to buy another one last year...they still make it...started using it and noticed I couldn't run and jump at the same time. A little googling and I learned that friggin Logitech ghosted keys on that keyboard after the first batch!!! Super annoying.

You can trust that any new high quality keyboard is gonna have N-key rollover like this one does. So multiple inputs at once is no problem.

TKL keyboards are actually the most popular form factor. Numpads aren't as useful in a casual world where you dont work with numbers much.

Probably worth $99 for that 2.4g wireless. Almost all keyboards are Bluetooth which is garbage for typing.

I'm torn about whether it should have a 10-key. An external number pad sounds better on a desk, but I use a tray at the couch and my kid is a southpaw and uses the number pad on his own tray for directionals or whatever is comfortable to him.

I'll pass. I switched from my Corsair K95 ($180-ish) to the Logitech G815 Clicky and I just love the low-profile keys, really makes a difference when reaching for Ctrl, Shift, etc. It was also twice the price so, can't just toss it in a drawer.

Only issue is it appears the customization software from 8bitdo is not available right now?> Why release something if the software to program keys assign functions is not available yet. If emulating the game yes it works, just whatever key you assign to the pedal in time crisis you assign for the big buttons.

To those of you that keep saying that you need that right keypad, this is a RETRO keyboard. I've been playing PC games for a LONG TIME. Back in the old days, keyboards were close to this layout, there were no side keypads. They got the color scheme right having all the special keys dark gray while the other keys were beige using the NES and Famicom colors of course. And yeah, keyboards back then were loud. So if you want a retro keyboard from 1985 and earlier, this is it. I don't plan on getting one, but I like the looks

I just got an 8BitDo Retro Mechanical Keyboard. I tested Wired and 2.4Ghz Wireless on Windows. It works great! But there is one problem. I could not get the keyboard to work on Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo GameCube through Brooks Wingman for Dreamcast and BlueRetro Internal Board for GameCube. I tried both Wired and 2.4Ghz Wireless on Wingman. Nothing happens. I go to BlueRetro Web UI and set the preset on Port Number 2 to Gamepad/Keyboard and the keyboard is still not responding to GameCube. Does anyone have the same problem as me? Let me know.

Can I use the three connection types to simultaneously use this with my Windows PC, Mac and Steam Deck? Does it support multiple Bluetooth connections? I’d like to replace my crappy Logitech keyboard but it Bluetooth connects to all three of my computers.
