King Elizabello's unique "King Punch" was stated that if it's charged up sufficiently, it would bring down one of the Four Emperors. I can imagine Kaido letting the king give it his best shot while he stand still to let the fully charged King Punch hit him and see if it's true or not. Like how Mr. Perfect Cell egged on Vegeta to fire Final Flash while staying on his spot.

I think that Kaido's 8th form would just be his regular self when he isn't experiencing a mood swing. The other 7 forms represent one of his moods, but none of those forms calm him down. He needs a form to use while he is calmed down, or else he would just be in one of the other 7 all the time.

I think my favorite part about goofy powers in one piece is how it's a 50/50 split between characters who take their powers so seriously, and it's so important to them. Then there's ashura and hakuba, and neither Zoro nor Cavendish ever really seem surprised or confused about it 😂 they're just like "oh yeah that happens sometimes". Zoro kind of just brought out ashura, like he's been shadow boxing in front of the mirror for a week now and he's just been itching to let loose on a minority. 😂

Blue Gilly's "out of this world" kicks are just a leg version of Luffy's gatling gun so no it's not the greatest combat speed shown. Honestly, every character that has been able to dodge, counter or block a gatling gun is on that level in terms of speed.

I think Luffy was particularly vulnerable to emotion paint because he's emotionally driven. A more logical character could consciously ignore their emotions, but that is not Luffy

I've been thinking about this stuff a lot lately. Like it'd be one thing if it was relegated to early one piece or gag characters, but it keeps coming up over and over in various forms, even recently. Even things like Vegapunk's supergenius-ness outside of his devil fruit for example could kind of fall into this category. I truly do wonder if there is a "hidden 3rd power system" of "literal magic" that almost no one taps into in the series, or if they do it's for strange one-off applications or gag stuff, but it really does seem as though it's a real, actual thing where the people of this world can just... manifest raw powers if they want to badly enough. Like Haki is 'determination and ambition' and devil fruits are 'dreams', maybe magic is simply 'thoughts' becoming strong enough to manifest. Then again, what we might be witnessing here is the very first users of ALL NEW devil fruits that will manifest as fruits after they die... Like Nami is the perfect example: a tangerine-shaped DF that gives you weather control and prediction powers, after her lifetime of mastering weather control on top of her innate 'magic' of weather prediction...

Now that I think of it, Big Mom is definitely not dead. Zeus wouldn’t be around if she wasn’t because I’m pretty sure effects of devil fruits fade after the user is killed.

Ramen Kenpo is probably just a form of life return. I imagine most of these abilities are some extreme expression of that

I think Zoro’s 9 sword style is the same as Luffy’s gum gum gatling, which just looks like a lot of fists because of speed, when in reality it’s just 2, much zoro looking like he has 9 swords when in reality he has 3, he’s probably just wiggling a bunch to cause more damage like there was 9

My theory is that Lao G's power roots from the same concept as Kumadoris (and Lucci) Seimei Kikan. Only Lao G used the ability to have full controll over his body for the storage and release of his strength, while Kumadori used the full control to utilize his hair. Elizabellos Power could also fit into this (somewhat)

2:25 Isn't that state kinda like Rumble Ball transformations for Chopper? The drug is different (alcohol instead of rumble ball). The trigger for change is different (mood swings instead of conscious choice). But it also produces very wierd, bastardized, intermediate or alternate forms. The main difference is that chopper understand the science behind his transformations, so he managed to get control over it.

Okay, but I theorize that at least a lot of the seemingly unique powers are just people with Haki who are drawing on it and applying it by accident without really knowing how and getting strange effects. Like how the powers of Cipher Pol seem to be Haki by a different name, or how Luffy's gears now seem to be abilities of his awakening that he drew out early through sheer creative thinking.

I never thought of Ashura as something confusing. Just like Blue Gilly, he's just moving so fast he creates afterimages. It has been a pretty common trope in fighting shonens, so much that almost all of them have at least one character using it.

Cause he literally creates new arms 😂 Also, my head canon is that Elizabello’s King punch is similar to Advance conquerors haki. He is a ruler, and the punch is more akin to a shockwave. It also shows Lightning but I think that’s just an effect more than confirmation lol

I always assumed King Punch is a really strong Conqueror's Haki infused fist, something worthy of being Garp's final attack. Mabye Elizabello has Conqueror's (wich fits into the story, he was born with this power and he's a king) but he is unable to use it willingly and the only way he can channel it is via King Punch, one hour of setup and warmup to get in the zone and unleash the strongest Conqueror's Haki hit we've ever seen :D

the sickle weasel is a reference to Japanese folklore of the Kamaitachi, a yokai with a weasel like appearance either welding a sickle or have sickle like claws.

I think Zoro was using Haki but his cured blade helped force it out when he was in a dire situation

I’m thinking that potentially the king punch wouldn’t be enough to kill one of the yonko because in that panel it only made a massive hole in the wall of the fortress, it didn’t destroy the entire wall.

Luffy also uses Seimei Kikkan, that's literally what he does when he eats a lot and digest everything in one go, and I'm pretty sure that's how he performs gear 2 and 3, especially gear 2 since it means he controls his veins and heart

I did want to say that elizabellos king punch did show "haki" in the anime, I wasn't reading the manga at that time so I can't say as to whether any of the manga effects for haki were shown at the time, probably not. Regardless, the king punch was fucking great he's an awesome character.

My thoughts on Zoro's Ashura thingy were fuelled by the cartoon epilogue of Wano, wherein Luffy and Zoro use high level abilities to... eat fast. The way it's drawn answers the question very well for me, at least until I read or see anything better. Simply put, he's just moving so fast it appears he's in three overlapping places at once. So... that would immediately put him and kicky longlegs right off the list, since it would mean more than one person has that crazy speed ability. I suppose that's why fortune tellers like Sharly and Basil aren't included, since well... I just listed two of them and concepts of "fate" seem to be this long running theme that pops up now and then throughout the series. Just ask Dragon, who seems so convinced that fate will see everyone through that he's willing to just sit down and talk about fate except for that one time he showed up to interrupt fate with a clown executioner and a chain smoker going after his son.

I heard an explanation of Ashura related to Zoro buddhistic believes. He says that he walks the path of the 6 realms and all of his stronger attacks are named under buddhist themes. Ashura are kind of demons and are part of the 5th realm if I remember, he uses animal themes which is 3rd realm, and now he s starting to use hell attacks which is the bottom realm. Those refers to the spiritual states that a soul can inhabit within the cosmic trap in which we are imprisoned called Samsara.

Something I would like to add to the part with Miss Goldenweek is that this version of Luffy probably had much lower willpower than the current version. Since he's faced loss, victory and conflict over and over again. Each time solidifying and honing his will. So to assume that it would work on Yonko's automatically because of an early series shenanigans is a bit hard to swallow. Also, this is just personal headcannon but I like to think that such unique abilities are new devilfruit powers in the making. So when Miss Goldenweek dies her will might be passed on in the form of a fruit somewhere.

My theory for stuff like this is that if Devil Fruits are hypothetical evolutions for humanity given form then any random person can eventually develop abilities akin to devil fruit powers but of course since humanity is still evolving very few people do.

There seems to be some tertiary power system, where people can physically alter/manipulate their muscles and bodies. Lao G does it, Lucci does it, and even Zoro does it.

Okay i get why Hasshoken wasnt on the list bc the entire Happou Navy learns this power, it kinda gets an honorable mention when you show the Corrida Colosseum fighters. Its such a weird ability tho, seemingly creating smaller Quakes/shockwaves with physicality or maybe…haki?

The key thing that I never see get brought up about Miss Goldenweek is that she can technically materialize clothes out of thin air to allow people to draw out their dreams. Also, imagine if the “Flag-Bearer of Freedom” returned to the story out of nowhere to assist “Joy Boy” in achieving his true dream.

I would love if in universe someone asked zoro how asura works the community gets so pumped and zoro just answers with something like 🤷🏾
