Here's a bit of trivia regarding ol' Yosemite Sam: he was created by Friz Freleng to be a more better antagonist to Bugs Bunny compared to Elmer Fudd, who Freleng always disliked for being a dim-witted pushover. Granted, Sam never had better luck against Bugs Bunny, but at least Sam was much more of an aggressive jerk to Bugs, meaning Bugs could get away with his "karmic trickster" tendencies more easily with him.
@@dr.crazystein9536 There was Marvin the Martian whose face was never seen but had big eyes. I often wonder if the creation of Orko from He Man was based on Marvin The Martin though thier personalities and temperment were quite different.
3:47 - the complete line is "You better say your prayers, ya flea-bitten varmint, I'm-a gonna blow you to smithereens!!". The part from "varmint" on was used in an obscure radio station, which has been appropriately called "Yosemite Sam station." The only thing it broadcasted was a short burst made of 0.8 secs of digital data and the aforementioned phrase. It was operative between 2004 and 2005. Incidentally, the station broadcasted from a military site near Albuquerque.
I have always maintained Yosemite Sam needs a course in anger management. But one helpful feature of this video is that by turning on the closed captions I can actually find out what Yosemite Sam is saying during his angry tirades. I could never make out all the words coming out of his mouth (indeed I think some of them aren't actually words) but now I have an idea. Of course the writers could not use actual swear words since these cartoons are for children so they "invented" a bunch of fierce sounding words Yosemite Sam could use for his long winded tirades.
He in fact did manage to blow away a fortune, by losing his temper ("you blow your top, you blow some dough") in that episode where Bugs tests him and gets on his nerves.
This is quite a compilation! I see you’ve done a lot of A-Z of insults. Maybe the next character could be Shredder from TMNT. (Update: seem’s someone’s already done it)
I'm not sure if you are taking suggestions for these kinds of videos, but I'd like to see you do and A-Z of Seto Kaiba (Yu-Gi-Oh!)'s insults. ASSUMING that you watched OG Yu-Gi-Oh! and its 5 seasons (including the Capsule Monsters arc (yes, I know Kaiba didn't appear in that arc, just making a point.) as well as the Yu-Gi-Oh! movies Pyramid of Light and The Dark Side of Dimensions.
Well I do have a few characters I’m looking into making videos for first, but I might consider him later down the line. I think he might make a pretty good video.
Yeah, no kidding. Compare to Yosemite Sam....... Daffy Duck is nothing more than Bugs Bunny's infamous shadow The Tasmanian Devil is just loving to eat Willie E. Coyote really never succeeds with worst luck Elmer Fudd still sucked at hunting animals Dr. Moron is already a literal moron Gossamer is somehow an OG Red Guy from Don't Hug Me I'm Scared Witch Hazel just needed a handsome man after creating a beauty recipe Beaky Buzzard is more of a flightless dumbass Rocky, Mugsy, and Nasty Canasta loves to steal money Hugo the Abominable Snowman is already a softie Toro gets angered easily without counting 10 Cecil the Turtle is just a speeding polar opposite Pete Puma, Giovanni Jones, "Blacque" Jacque Shellaque, and Nazis are more of off-key cameos And Martians in Looney Tunes wanted to conquer universes with unlicensed bio-weaponry
I'm not sure if the remainder of King Koopa's insults from the remainder of his time in the Animated Super Mario Cartoon's are shown anywhere else, I'm sure its not that many so it could be done for a Part 2 Bonus
Initially I only included clips from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show in order to keep it all concise and to keep the video from being too long, but one day I may go back and put together a "complete" version that includes the Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World.
Hey Red, I’m curious… do you still talk to Madole? The guy you played a few games with in the past. You two played Pac-Man Arrangement and Dig Dug Arrangement before. I still love those videos.
@@Matt_0716 Yeah we still keep in regular contact with each other, and he is still appearing from time to time in my videos. Notably I’ve been having him along in my multiplayer Mario Maker videos, along with some other one-off projects from time to time.
@@xRed5433xAh. Neat, I’m glad you two still talk and make content together. It’s too bad you never played Galaga Arrangement together. Those Namco multiplayer games are severely underrated, if you ask me.
After watching some of this video for a second time it occured to me I have seen real people who sound like Yosemite Sam throwing one of his frequent tantrums. In RU-vid videos virtually every suspect being arrested (especially the drunks) sound like him.
My favourites: "Cut out the Army talk, we're in the Navy!" "Avast there, come back here, you barnacle-bitten swab!" "Oh yeah? We'll see who'll chicken out first!" "Ooh, ya clumsy rabbit!" "That consarn idjit rabbit bit my nose!" "Ya doggone idjit galoot! "Ya double crossers!" "Alright, ya dumb well." "Why, that dummkopf!" "I'll blast the fur clean off'n his flea-bitten hide!" "Ooh, what a grouch!" "Get off, you lunkhead!" "He's the most stupidest robot I've got!" "No-good bushwhackin' barracuda!" "20 years tryin' and ya missed me again, you shovel-nosed mackerel!" "Now where'd that skunk of a rabbit go?!" "You stupid pachyderm!" "Now where's that swab a-hidin' at?" "Slow down, you swab, you're gonna capsize us!" "Ha ha ha, he jumped around like a toadie frog!" "You'll pay for this, varmint!" "Good night, varmint... critter..." "OK, Yankee, stick 'em- [boom!] up?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It actually appears in the dictionary. It means a clumsy or oafish person. Another one sometimes used in the Looney Toons cartoons is "mertilize" (e.g. the barnyard dog once said of Foghorn Leghorn "I oughta mertilize the big overstuffed feather duster"). I didn't think it was a real word but I looked it up and found it is a slang term meaning "to destroy or annihilate". While looking it up I came across "murdalize" which has a similar meaning and so is perhaps an alternate spelling.
@brittanykidwell9044 Yes many of us today don't realize they are real words because they are very rarely used anymore. Two other examples are "daffy" and "jughead". When I was young I believed they were simply names given to fictional characters (Daffy Duck in the Looney Tunes cartoons and Jughead in the Archie comics). It was only much later as an adult I learned "daffy" means "silly, odd, or peculiar, usually in an amusing way" and "jughead" means "a stupid person". There are many other such words from many decades ago that have fallen into disuse so few people today are aware of them. I heard "jughead" used to mean "a stupid person" only once; in a 1980s TV show WKRP about a floundering radio station. The sales manager was sitting in the station manager's chair and the latter said "Get out of that chair jughead".
@brittanykidwell9044 Shortly after composing my reply I recalled two more examples from one of Foghorn Leghorn's long winded rants in the Looney Toons cartoons. Foghorn and a cat were both trying to catch a worm. (The cat wanted the worm as a bait for fishing. Initially he was fishing without any bait and the fish attached a note to his hook stating "Dear dope: you can't catch us fish without a worm on the hook. Signed the fish".) Foghorn says to the cat "What's the big idea chasing my worm? You're a cat son. Cats don't eat worms". The phrase "what's the big idea" to mean doing something questionable or objectionable is never used anymore. Similarly referring to a male as "son" (other than one's own male child) is never done anymore.
I think you missed one. If i recall there was a Speedy Gonzales cartoon with Yosemite Sam and he called a parking lot pay sign next to a bank he was robbing and he called them Robbers
I assume you're talking about the short "Pancho’s Hideaway." While it does feature a character that looks and sounds like Sam, it is actually a different character entirely so that's why I didn't include him.
It says, “The Capt. loves Gravel Gertie.” This is a character from the Dick Tracy comics who is depicted as an ugly woman who lives in a gravel pit, hence why Sam would be humiliated to be associated with such a character.
