Have you heard about the A380 effect? What is it? It’s called the A380 effect - when a city introduces the world’s biggest passenger plane - the impact on business and tourism development is substantial. Two cities Los Angeles and Birmingham in the English Midlands share their experiences.

Airbus just need to convince British Airways to buy another 12 A380's, sweeten the deal with some discounts, little Willie Walsh is too tight though :/ He'd rather get second hand ones from Malaysia or Singapore

We are looking forward to see the new A380-NEO in action. 19" seats in 11 abreast on the main and 9 on the upper deck, foldable wings to fit airports that meet the dreamliner-like wingspan and finally, counter-rotating fans to increase distance even further!

Is it the 2 class A380 to BHX?

It's been 9 years now since the A380 was first in service. Is it safe to say that the A380 is as safe as A340 compare it to the safety of the A340's first nine years?

British Airways should fly the A380 from Birmingham to Los Angeles
@philipkapadia1852

I think I prefer the Boeing 747-8 than the A380, as a pilots point of view its more efficient and easier to fly the a380 has only capacity
@man9170
@man9170 8 лет назад
actually the a380 is more efficient

Maybe Los Angeles needs to tell the airlines in the USA to start buying the A380 and multiply the 'A380 effect' for their domestic airline industry and not leave it to European, Middle Eastern and Asian airlines to cream off the revenues....
@hitssquad
@hitssquad 8 лет назад
+1chish It would appear Los Angeles has nothing to "worry about" in that regard: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Airbus_A380_orders_and_deliveries

hitssquad Sorry. My point was that every other Continent has ordered A380s except the Americas. And very surprisingly the USA. But then my personal belief is that having an A380 in a US flag carrier's colours is a step too far for the Protectionist Regime in Washington. There is clearly a demand for these aircraft IN the USA given the number of flights landing there.
@man9170
@man9170 8 лет назад
The USA is to proud to buy an a380 just because it is bigger than their American made 747, they say it is to big and it is no good. Anyway their loss.

man9170 Countries don't buy airliners. Individual companies buy airliners. Individual companies that have purchased the A380 regret their mistake: reuters. com/ article/ us-airshow-britain-airbus-idUSKCN0ZS2CK "Europe's Airbus on Tuesday cut the delivery target for its A380 superjumbo to 12 a year from 2018, down from 27 in 2015 and about half what is projected for this year, to prevent *a glut of unsold planes as airlines shun the industry's behemoths*." "The move raises the possibility that Airbus could revert to losses on the double-decker jet after breaking even for the first time last year, but averts the need to start ordering parts for unsold planes: something it has pledged not to do. Parts for A380s must be ordered up to two years ahead. Airbus said it would still break even with 20 deliveries next year, but gave no specific commitment beyond that." "It is the second time that Airbus has moved to cut production of the A380, reflecting a more hard-nosed attitude to a jet hailed at its birth as a European industrial symbol."

where does it say they regret buying their a380s?

Interesting but slightly annoying. The otherwise very nice lady from Birmingham (and this is not a personal attack on her by the way) was following the recent trend in the UK of beginning each new reply or point made with the word "So" and lifting the ends of her sentences in the Australian manner. Enjoyable video otherwise.

A380 effect? is that when Boeing fanboys get rude?

The filter used (golden tone) in this video is just wrong. It doesn't give any useful effect and made the video looks amateur-ish. Stick to normal color tone.

the a380 is a fancy ass plane, but I guess I'm just a Boeing 747 person... it's a classic, and pretty darn successful. At least compared to the a380 which, let's be honest here, was a failure both on the market and design, mabye they'll do better next time ? ( A380-900 ? )

Being an airbus fanboy, i love the a380. But i do have give the 747 credit: it was a legend of its time, the queen of the skies, the aviation icon for half a century, sad to see it go though :(
@Noah-kl8wn
@Noah-kl8wn 8 лет назад
+Ivan_Friends/IvanWorldLiner it's not going anywhere :) Even if Boeing won't continue with making more 747 versions, the current newest 747-8 will still be around for a very long while. Also as Air force one !
@ivan_friends5953
@ivan_friends5953 8 лет назад
+Noah Bach-Wall yeah but i mean the orders have dropped so significantly, boeing are about to cancel production of the -400, the beauty. I have to be honest, if i owned an airline i would tak 747-8's or even -400.
@ivan_friends5953

I am glad that my flagcarrier will keep 747-400M the combi version. If you wanna know what airline it is. It is the launch customer of the 747-400 combi
@Horizon301.
@Horizon301. 8 лет назад
+Noah Bach-Wall the A380 is to a failure they have started to make money and there is a increasing demand as airports like Heathrow are racing maximum capacity and so airlines need bigger planes, the a380 has so much demand that they may make a neo as Emirates themselves will order many of them, the B747-800 is probably going to stop production soon it's already as a very slow rate and there aren't many new freighter orders either the only thing keeping them going. The Airbus a380 is a whole new aircraft and is more better in many ways the B747-800 is just q improved aircraft and throws not good enough for many airlines
