I’ve always noticed a semi-destroyed railway bridge over the South Western Highway and wondered where it went. Today, I follow the abandoned railway line from the town of Mundijong to the bushland behind Jarrahdale. This railway line operated from the late 1960s to the late 1990s and serviced an Alcoa bauxite mine. After the mine closed, the land it was on was completely rehabilitated but for some reason, the railway line has remained. This is odd, since most lines close to the metro area are usually pulled up within years of the service ending.
