In this video I continue the Lancia/ autobianchi engine rebuild.
Its a 1050 Fiat engine tuned by abarth.
Previous I fitted the cylinder head and headgasket, And now I try to fit the oil pump, Waterpump, Rocker assembly, set the valve clearance and more!

Much respect for you. I would have gave up after the second time that bold broke off. When torking bolds i always have one hand on the ratchet wrench and the other on the handel. That way you torque straid and less change of breaking the bold.

Agree with you on the oil pump, it’s not worth risking all those good parts and all your hard work for the sake of a possibly ‘duff’ oil pump. You need the confidence to know it’s all functioning right. Thanks for the video. Les in UK

Very nice work, thanks for sharing. I changed the timing chain on a Fiat Uno 45 once, I think the tensioner had failed, it was quite rattly. I've had two Seicentos since but that was never a problem on those.

Yes, they can fail or the chain can stretch... :)

I'm working on a 903cc first series fiat 127 which is very similar. The black spacer on the fuel pump is an insulation block so the petrol doesn't heat up from the block. - I believe! good video well done

Fun fact, Carlo Abarth had plans to put his "Radiale engine" into the A112 and make it a fitting 112 HP.

The engine is coming along nicely , best to change the oil pump for a new one the plate on the old one is too far gone Seppo.

Very good video. Where can I get that ONLINE manual. I live in Argentina and it is not available here.

Yea the pinion bearing of the oil pump is pretty sketchy. Mine also is way out of spec. I also wonder why they use a timing chain when the shafts are right next to each other.
@SeasideGarage
@SeasideGarage 2 года назад
Good questions... I know the Ford/Saab v4 uses a gear driven system and that can actually shear the teeths off if the bearings gets worn... so maybe its something to do with some more flexibility in a chain?

Hi my friend. Amazing video. My father bought a A112 abarth 5 series but he unfortunately passed away from Covid. I have taken on the project along with our mechanic family friend. I will use the tips on your video. Is there anything else we should look out for that is easily missed when rebuilding this engine? Thank you
@SeasideGarage
@SeasideGarage 3 года назад
Hello Radias! I am sorry to hear about your father... But it sounds like a great tribute to fix the A112..! The engine seems pretty straight forward in my opinion, but do check for straightness on the head and block if possible.... :) Goood luck! And feel free to ask anything...

I buy from different places... But a lot of the parts are the same as fiat 127 so that helps! The manuals are hard to find!

skim the plate the difference will be in the depth pickup pipe not a problem the thickness of the plate is just like a spacer

@@SeasideGarage is there movement in the gears side to side or up and down the one you should concentrate on is the one with the wear mark its easy for me to make the suggestions i work on 20 or so cars a week these are not my own so this wouldn't have been a problem to me unless their was movement in the cogs of the pump keep up the good work i would video some of my work but i just wouldn't get any work done

@@SeasideGarage I got the same sort of problem with a Nissan Micra c+c I after a BCM only available from Europe but no one will send to UK after Brexit these problems all get sorted out in the end but for 55 Euro why take a chance such a small price to pay for success yet a big chance of failure if you don't change it well good luck can't wait for the next installment and it's so nice you take your time to read all the message and respond
