Join me for Part 1, of our "Plaistow to East Ham" = Historical on-foot tour & pub crawl, series! A now & then, glimpse into "some of the area's much loved & remembered, locations." Filmed on Friday 21st July 2023.
In this part of the tour = we begin, with an historical image of "a much loved, Plaistow Pub = The Abbey Arms." Then, you'll rejoin me, back in the present, & looking at the same pub "which thankfully, still survives."
Then, we head off, for the first on-foot part of the tour! From The Abbey Arms, Barking Road, Plaistow London E13 = & make our way, along the Barking Road, heading to our first Pub visit, of the day (The Boleyn Tavern) = which will be part 2, in this series!! In this onfoot tour = we walk through Plaistow - Green Gate - The Boleyn /Upton Park "taking in memories = local & much loved legends/shops = the bloody great changes, which have & are, fast overtaking the area" = while having a chat, along the way.
Then, we end off this video tour, with a look back, at historical images "showing the buildings /history, we walked past" in the tour.

Thank you for this London Luke. It was great to look back at Plaistow and East Ham. I've walked past that Old Boleyn Tavern many at time, I can't seem to see it. without thinking of the fate of poor Anne Boleyn. Lets hope this piece of London history remains for many a year still.

Evening Varda. No problem at all 😊 Glad you enjoyed the tour. Its always good to try & document change = But, the nicer bit "is usually the look-back at how it was, in yesteryear." Yes, it serves as a good reminder = poor woman "Henry VIII = was a pugnacious arsehole, wasn't he." Her only crime in his eyes "was to not give him a son" = takes tep to tango, as they say! Although, I find the era in which he lived, really interesting "just can't help but really dislike Henry VIII." Yes absolutely 🤞 long may it last & be remembered, ay ✌️

Really enjoying your videos, my husband is from Plaistow and he moved to Scottish Highlands with me. While I only visited a dozen times there's a lot of familiar sights and even in 15 years loads has changed.

Evening Tony. Bless her & pass on my thanks + thanks to yourself too mate "really appreciate that & lovely to hear, that you're both enjoying the content." I've heard the name a few times over the years = an old neighbour of ours when i was a kid "used to knock about with the Herbert's = he was an old boy in his 60s, by the time I knew him = Mathew's was his surname." Nice to remember the old times & the old Canning Town families, ay mate!! They had big & close families on those days 👌. I'll get that Anchor Pub video sorted for you soon = will probably do a walk down Star Lane, as part of it ✌️
