Thanks for all your great videos. Really appreciate the time and effort it takes to make a video. They've been really helpful, as I'm trying to set up my bench and source good economical jewellers tools.

A budget scope is better than no scope! I'm using a Leica A60 now and love it! The depth of field is fantastic. Nice videos!

Thanks for the video on the Vevor Microscope Cody. I just purchased one of these, and am about to mount it to my work bench. I will be using if for viewing gemstones, coins, and whatever else I think I need to see super close up. So not sure if you're still having the wobble issue with this scope, but I do see something a little unusual regarding how you've got the scope mounting ring and angle bracket assembly put together. The rod appears to be upside down, and the top cup washer is at the top instead enclosing the ball assembly that the scope mounting ring attaches to. Perhaps you've fixed this since you first did this video. I agree that the scope still moves more than it should. It seems that some of the hardware has changed over the last year of so. I have a single knurled plastic knob that goes into one side of the ring. The documentation says there are 3 holes, and 3 thumb screws to secure the scope into. I won't be using the head rest, and the knob that locks the head rest in place is the same kind of knob that fixes the scope in the ring. So I will be using this in the second hole to help stabilize the scope in the ring. I do agree that it would further stabilize the scope by tapping another hole and using this for stabilization.

Thank you for the review of this scope! I have been shopping for a good budget miscroscope for my bench at home. At work we have OttoFrei’s Otto setters and a few meji scopes and I was hoping this Vevor is a good comparable one for me to use at home. I don’t have the $2000-$3000 budget my boss has! Lol. Did you happen to name the model number in this video?
@codydagutis6639
@codydagutis6639 2 года назад
Hi! I don't have a model number but I believe it's the only one on vevors website. I haven't had an issue with it. The setter I know still uses it after 4 years with no issues either. But yeah I don't have the budget for the ones at work either haha this one is more my speed

Hi Cody, I am so grateful for your review. I have a question (please); I see this identical microscope on Amazon sold by "DZQ". Is it the equipment the same as Vevor - if you know... I can't find any comparison info. I'm guessing it's just 2 different sellers of the same equipment. Thanks for your help, if can. 🌺

Hey sorry for the delay. I'm not sure. I had a hard time finding information on it myself which is why I put the review out. Hoping to help people looking at the same thing. I have no complaints about it. It's done a great job for me

Do you need to use a .5 Barlow lens with this microscope? I’ve been researching budget microscopes and keep reading about needing the .5 lens to increase work area (and it also increases depth of field). No one seems to mention this in reviews of the Vevor. People seem to be satisfied with the distance/work area. What are your thoughts?

I have some confusion from various internet sources: is the magnification x4.5 or x45? I need about x10 my optivisor is already x3.5 & the microscope on my PUK welder is 10x. Me like-y 10x
@codydagutis6639
@codydagutis6639 2 года назад
Yeah the documentation is kind of screwy. I can tell you that it goes way closer than my 10x loupe. So it's most likely 45
@sebbonit6833
@sebbonit6833 Год назад
there is a zoom knob on the microscope, depending on the eye peaces and lenses you can have different magnification. eg with 10x lenses you would have variable magnification between 7x and 45x, with 10x lenses but with added 0.5 barrow lens you would have zoom between 3.5x and 22.5x

Thanks for subscribing! I appreciate the positive feedback. Yup! It's actually cheaper on their site. I got mine on Amazon because they were out of stock. It comes with the scope, the arm and mounting screws. The only thing it didn't come with was the additional light that I got which is made by AmScope.

I haven't had an issue with it. If people's eyes are strained then they probably didn't set up the focus correctly. No broken parts on mine either

I'm not exactly sure. It's all broken English. It can zoom way more than 10x though. Closer to the 45x. I've compared it with my loupe which is 10x and it can get much closer than that. Wish I could be more specific. The manual that came with it wasn't much help haha

Usually, the magnification of a microscope is the magnification of the eyepiece (usually 10x) multiplied by the magnification of the objective lens (here 0.7X-4.5X) giving you a total magnification of 7X-45X.

Hey Keion! Welcome to the world of jewelry! I am far from being qualified to teach but I can recommend some resources. AtTheBench.com run by Andrew Berry. He also has a RU-vid channel with tons of information. Also jewellery training solutions. Both sites are incredibly helpful. There are free and paid memberships for both. Both are worth the money.

if u live close to a jared store, go in there and ask them if they're looking for apprentices....that's how i learned, the job is shitty and you will be under a good amount of stress, but if you're willing to learn and make the time to practice your skills then it's a decent place to start, like everything in life, u will get out what you put in
