Will shows 4 ways to make the best camp coffee. Each method is light, packable, and has easy clean up o help you use less water and leave a smaller footprint at camp. All you need for these coffee methods is hot water and trash bag for waste. At the end Will and his friends do a taste test for all four to see which one taste the vest, makes the most, and is easiest to use. This video was filmed on location while Will and his firends wre on the Idaho Backcountry Discovery Trail, each coffee method was actually being used by them to stay awake during a 12 day 1,400 mile Overland Adventure.

Who Loves Coffee on the Trail??? I found 4 ways to make really really good coffee at camp that are all light, packable, and have very easy clean up so you can leave less of a trace at camp. Nice video - thanks. If you love coffee and care to reduce to the least amount of waste the Aeropress or a simple pour over can't be beat. Consider the clean up and the plastic waste of those pods and the packaged coffee. The Aeropress can also be fitted with a metal filter so you don't even need to use those paper ones - but the paper filters out more of the oils if you like that. It brews an espresso just as good as the thousand dollar machine I had in my coffee shop. Grab one of those portable milk frothers and you can set up a little boutique coffee stand anywhere. And a French press is just awful. Burnt beans that are over extracted. It's comparable to a over hopped IPA - it's hoppy because they messed it up. Less waste is the best waste.

I love camp coffee! I use a french press gizmo when camping. Everyone else in my group just guzzles down some nasty instant coffee. I like the easy clean up of the Aero Press.

The air pocket in the Aeropress is not for "brewing the coffee". The real air pocket is between your ears for lack of knowledge on how to correctly use the Aeropress.

I had a whole thing on why I don’t use a grinder that was cut…but the truth is, the best coffee is freshly ground. I’m going to experiment with a pour over. Thanks for watching and commenting! And…it IS vital lol.

I've been using the Wacaco Minipresso since it came out (maybe 3--5 years). I love it and it's similar to your espresso maker. I've also used a French press for many years. One of these days I'll upgrade and try the AeroPress as an option. I also carry a Moka pot. I've got a Nespresso and k-cup plug in that I can carry too. it's good to have lots of options when it comes to coffee. IMHO
@Venture2Roam

The Wacaco Minipresso looks similar to the Staresso I used...but maybe a little tighter design. I might have to test one of those out..thanks for sharing!

Funny thing is I picked up some wildland coffee bags at Overland Expo west in flagstaff this year for the first time. I agree it is great for cleanup & convenience & it isn’t bad. We also prefer our coffee press. When it is time for a new one I will have to consider the areopress. Thanks for a fun informative video.

I've never liked percolators. I always make a mess with them, they use a lot of water, and I can never get the coffee to taste good. I know other people use them and love them though.

@@Venture2Roam Afternoon, simple really, 30grams per 500 mil. Once it starts perking wait 5 minutes, coffee will be top grade. Use a dark bean if possible and medium grind, not coarse

So I used the Stanley for the longest but recently got the Brewtrek overland press. The Brewtrek and Stanley are great for the amount of coffee they make but clean up is a pain to me. I have really been thinking about getting an aeropress thought and giving that a try.
@Venture2Roam
@Venture2Roam 2 года назад
I like both of those presses you mentioned. We try not to leave coffee grounds at camp...which is why I like the aero -because it's so easy to get the grounds in a trash bag with no water to clean up. That being said - I do like a good French Press! Thanks for watching and sharing!

Great vid! I’ll have to check out the aero press. I’ve been on the Stanley French press wagon for years. I recently tried the One Fresh Cup, single serve pour over. I’m a fan of the Ethiopian roast, and it doesn’t disappoint! It’s a bit on the pricey side, but we’ll worth it in my opinion.

If you enjoy the Aeropress I would do the inverted method. It allows full immersion of the coffee and prevents premature contact with the filter and dripping.
