Empty child fucking traumatised me when i first watched it as 7 year old. Of course i loved it anyway, I'm obsessed with horror and that even manifested back then. Doctor Who is my favourite show of all time.
yeah i also love the music choices in season 1. dont get me wrong the batshit insane murray gold scores give me chills but the silly electronic music when the doctor had an idea was iconic lol

Love and Monsters wasn't really written by RTD. It was part of a fan submission contest. A little kid wrote it. Also, fun fact, that kid grew up and has a pretty damn good RU-vid channel now called Channel Pup
I might be wrong, but I think that the kid just did the monster concept, you can even see in his drawing that it was suposed to be way bigger than it was actually presented in the show.
It's refreshing to see someone finally appreciates "the Moff" for once. The fan girls tend to just swoon over 10/14. The purist of the alleged RTD supremacy will remain blind by their (literal) rose tinted glasses. And yes, I do my best to enjoy what I can (even the Chibnall era) but some people's "loyalty" sometimes feel counterproductive whether for the characters or the point of the franchise itself and your words were nothing but honest/fair. Can't wait for Part Deux...
@@tvguy61 If I'm honest, it's disappointing but not that bad (except for the timeless children that is just hubris f**king another fandom once more.), they tried too hard to present themselves as better than everyone at everything that they forgot to just make a good narrative consistency between the characters or the doctor herself at the time. It had at a lot of potential but rather than being too repetitive I'll just end it with if they only focused on making 13 distinct rather than neutrally pleasing to everyone then her impact would have been more distinct rather than just be the "female" one. She would be the modern equivalent in tone/style to what 5 was in the classic era (again with exception of the timeless children incident).
cant lie the satan pit two parter and the lazarus experiment were the two stories that absolutely had me traumatised and hiding behind the couch when i was a kid. the gas mask kids were like, just interesting and cool. like it fucked with me so much i actually was werided out by the ood being actually okay in season 4 and then nice and i loved the whole 10 is basically a god and is fighting gods now. the lazarus experiment was just body horror in the extreme.
I liked connecting the word magic in the Shakespeare episode to the whole world praying for the doctor Pretending this was foreshadowing and not coincidence makes my brain hurt less

there's a reason there's so many dalek stories, basically terry nation's (the guy who made the daleks) family owns the daleks, and to get the daleks for the revival, the bbc cut a deal with them that means the daleks have to appear at least once in every series so that they'd get a shit ton of money, and that deal still remains today
This has been said to be false multiple times by multiple showrunners. I think the more likely reason is that moffats mother is the manager for terry nation

Most Doctor Who fans, myself included, will tell you yes, the first season of NewWho didn’t start off too great, but it got better in the second season up until Jodie Whittaker took the reigns where it started to go downhill. Jodie did a good job at acting, but the writing she had for her portrayal of the Doctor was bad. In fact, the writing for the last 3 seasons was bad. But luckily the 3 specials we got for the new era are amazing
Since the 60s, Dr Who has always been B grade or worse entertainment. I grew up in the 60s btw, it was trash then and worse trash now. David Tennant is a dreadful, overrated actor, I dislike him intensely. So Dr Who is garbage, what's new. lol
