Not going to say that the H90 wouldn't be awesome, but it's not exactly cost effective compared to an HXFX. Unless you're looking for some of the algorithms only the H90 does. Awesome job & instruction for using them together!
Yep, thought the same. Since I pretty much always use delay and reverb, this would already be all this pedal can do at once (I know, there is a delay and reverb thingy in there that will fit in one slot, but having used that on the H9 in the past, I do not find it convincing at all). The other problem (totally subjective of course) is that I find most vintage effects (phaser, flanger, chorus, vibrato, optical tremolo, harmonic tremolo, bias tremolo, univibe, tube delays, analog delays, tape delays, spring reverb and more) a lot better in the Helix/HX or even the Hotone products. When using a HX Effects, or HX Stomp (XL or regular) you can have 9 simultaneous effects, the newer Ampero Stage and Stomp models can do 12 (but have far fewer fully stereo effects) and they all cost far less. And I did not even mention overdrive, distortion, fuzz, EQ, compressor effects which do not even exist in relevant form on the H90. And I did not even mention the fact that the HX Stomp and Effects devices are pretty full-fledged Midi controllers, which - if needed - saves you at least another 200 - 400 bucks and a lot of space. Or, to rephrase the above, I think one would really have to love the Eventide harmonizer and pitch manipulation effects, and their more extreme delays and reverbs, to pick this over the alternatives. --- One thing on the HX Effects though, as I recently went through this... There are two things the HX Effects does not have (other than of course no amp simulations) that must be considered: 1. No balanced outputs, 2. No "Global EQ". 1. means you will need a stereo DI or LI box on your board, 2. means that you either have to put a stereo EQ behind the HX Effects to adjust to different speakers and locations, or manually adjust EQ settings in every single preset. For these reasons I did move back to pairing the StompXL with the Tonex instead of the HX Effects.
THANKS for the vid! i have been trying to figure out the best way to incorporate these very pedals myself. I'm adding a Microcosm as well and plan to put that after the H90 loop along with another delay and reverb.
I have my tonex pedal in the loop of the H90 as well but I found having the return from the Tonex pedal set as line was far too quiet and a big difference jn sound when turning it on and off. instrument level sounded much more even. Did you find the same?? I know Tonex is supposed to be Line out but it seems quite low
Can you use Tonex Pedal in INSERT vs DUAL on the H90. I would have TP on insert1 and my Kenom OD on insert2, then move I1 and I2 around the chain with H90 A and B??
I got tonex and h90 but i never tried the way you connect to h90. What do you reckon jason with h90,tonex and lvx meris? Can you give me some ideas on what setting should i do?
Also you can’t capture amps on fractal. I recently sold my quad cortex and got the tone x. The captures on this thing are bang on and it takes pedals exactly the same as the real amps
