Honestly, I fucking love paladins. My friend and I played this shit almost everyday. But it's become so riddled with bugs that its an unplayable mess. It's not that I don't want to play paladins, I can't play paladins.

Paladins used to hold a special place in my heart. For a poor ass kid with just a barely functioning laptop who loved video games, Paladins was something I cherished the most. I used to say that I would be sticking to paladins till its bitter end but then since last year or so, it just went downhill. Your videos are the best summary of why Paladin's most loyal fans were betrayed, let down, and ultimately abandoned. I made some great memories through this game, some very bitter ones, and some that I will keep with me for a long time. But the ship finally goes down, I will be there for the last ride but till then, I am done with this game. Also, That Jewel guy is one of the worst Community managers of this or any other game I have seen for a while. He doesn't interact with the community, Doesn't communicate about the game, and with what he did with you, certified ineligible for the job. as someone who also played since the beta, I think you summed up a ton of my frustrations as well, I don't nearly have as much time (or money) invested into it as you do, but I've been around a while and it's been really disheartening coming back after a break to only see it get worse with each break I took, not better, aside from more characters being potential positives

I'm one of those who left the game behind and moved on But I still check the game's state here and then and... it's sadly as I expected I was fed up with the lack of care and attention Hi-Rez seemed to treat this game and for something so special to many of us to be this low is simply heart-breaking

yeah i used to love the fiddlesticks out of paladins, now it just holds bitter memories and seeing its current state makes me impressed on how the devs and community never learned from their mistakes on it believe me there were a lot of good moments i had with the game, met some nice people on the way, and 2017-2019 was the peak when the game was on the verge of being a good competitor it fell from grace thanks to hi-rez, it hurts to be honest it really does, and seeing how OW2 basically became the better paladins i might as well return back to my old roots of enjoying overwatch and TF2 it would take a miracle to bring back paladins, and hi-rez has the resources and potential to do it, the thing is will they have the open mind to do it?

Regardless of the state of the game, nothing can replace it for me. I will be sticking with it until the doors close. Just like Gigantic.

1) amazing video as always raven, love the content 2) an idea I've always had for the ranked experience is dedicating ranked open and closing times. By doing this, it funnels more players into the ranked queue and once people get used to the times, it will result in (hopefully) better matchmaking because of the higher concentration of players... Very optimistic though 3) a very funny time to say we aren't getting a new map when literally today the new map got announced 4) I wonder how big of a game paladins could be if only they had an overwatch budget

I got an email from Hi-Rez asking me to take a survey on why I don't play Paladins as much anymore and what they could do to improve. My answers were the sentiments from this video almost exactly. I haven't played as much for the past two years but I had been playing since the game left alpha way back when. I want there to be large sweeping changes; however, I doubt it'll happen. Like most of Hi-Rez's games they have something special and unique that is being kept on life support instead of being supported to grow and flourish.

I genuinely love this game soo much. But man sometimes its hard to keep defending some of the stuff that still persists in it years later. It also sucks to see how you've been treated through it all but gotta say thanks cos you're the one that inspired my love for this game

Me who tried to play overwatch 2, and compared it to paladin and still think paladin is much more fun to play cause of its versatile gameplay and awesome character with a vast amount to choose from.

I really like your point on ranked games. I hardly play ranked because the queue and the long champion ban and pick time. I understand why it could be necessary, but be honest - there's no use debating your team on who to ban or anything strategic. They will just do what they want anyway... Less time = more play = yay

I’ve been playing this since I was 13 years old, I started playing a few months before my birthday. I’m 19 now… imagine. I am still playing paladins on and off and honestly I am losing hope. This game has brought me great memories and I just don’t want it to die down. As always great video! 😊

I used to love this game and hold out hope for to eventually get better, since playing from the alpha days I hoped it would get better. But it hasn’t unfortunately it hasn’t, I stopped playing a year ago due to the wave of massive bugs that just kept getting packed and re appearing again. I’ve followed your content as it gave a way for me to hold out hope, but now as it seems even content creators who used to love this game to bits, are starting to leave I can understand why. It really hits deep that the state of the game is like this. Some of my best moments PC gaming have been on this game with friends. I remember using Fernando’s default taunt, laughing, after every kill with him, with one of those being in a play of the game, killing three people and laughing at them all, whilst they called my buddy and I so many slurs😂. But yeah.. that’s just one of many memorable moments in the game. I really really hope that the game gets some love soon, but seeing this video really makes that a dark topic.

Paladins still holds a place in my heart, even if I can't even stomach to open it anymore... The game was so fun! I remember me and my friends would get home from high school every day, do our homework and then rush to get on and smash out some games together! I remember the Siege on Ascension Peak event and how absolutely hyped I was and the same sentiment went to the Rise of Furia event... After enduring patch OB64 I thought the game could never get worse, but now it is just to the point I would take the OB64 days than watch my old favorite game continue to rot like this... Paladins genuinely feels like a mobile game now, the love is still there, but you can see they are desperate to milk as much money as possible, hence why champs like Moji and other unpopular champs took over 4 years to receive 1 skin, and in that timeframe Lian, Khan, and Maeve all had got well over 5 each. The last Nail in the coffin was seeing the "Earn free rewards" Button in the menu screen that basically gives you a pittance of gold for watching advertisements, just like a cheap mobile game off the app store. It is so sad to see a game I love struggle like this, and most likely never come back. :/

I have to say, I was a Skye main back in the days. Then I didn't play again for a year after they reworked her. Afterwards I always came back a few times, and there was very little that struck me as positives changes, and many negative things.

Just to clarify about loadouts in OW2 they right from the start were announced to be part of PvE only PvP would always remain the same

After playing this game for 8k hours I agree with you on 100% of points but currently my main issue with this game is ping, for some reason since last patch I started getting 250 ping as minimum which used to be 60. I can't play this game anymore for that reason alone.

I've been playing Paladins since its release on Nintendo switch in 2018. I currently have over four thousand hours of play time on it and have gone through several stages on the game that reflect the different life periods of paladins. I was a ranked player from season 1 to mid season 3 I would say. I usually reached diamond 2 in a 100 games or less. The level of play was good despite the double heal meta and the 75% cauterized. Then Paladins stopped the Esport. This caused the death of the game in my opinion, but a slow death. Most of the "good" players stopped which lowered the level of the game and so players looking for a competitive game compensated little by little creating an endless loop of lost players. However fortnit was dying at the same time and I think some of the ft players came to paladins reducing the loss of players in the immediate future. However the level of play had dropped enormously, I arrived diamond in about fifty games. Of course I was getting better too but the level of play had really dropped. This was especially noticeable in the test card where the level was very low, although I enjoyed the test card games more than the ranked ones. Then a new development team replaced the old one and since then more and more bugs started to arrive in addition to the old ones not fixed. More and more players started to desert the game and a "casu" atmosphere was established. The game had become less competitive, we all want paladins to become competitive again, several structures like the AOC (which is not useful for much LMAO), the PFCL (Paladins French League (yh, you have greetings from France) but the game had become too toxic and buggy. The community was forced to play and recognize the bug nest that is paladins without change despite promises. The level of the game has become so low, I can go from bronze to diamond in about 30 games or less. Most of the community has left and the studios are letting the game die. Paladins is like a building built by very bad architects, the developer adds floors (the new champions) using steel except that the supporting beams (here the heart of the game) are made of rotten wood and the developer does not want to treat the wood. The problem is that we've been living in this building for a long time so we don't want to leave it, but the building is currently collapsing. Despite the moral and financial support of the players (I had to put more than 300€ in the game) the game is dying because of bad decisions from Hi rez. This is my story about paladins and what I think about the game now. Oh and, Stephane is a nice name :)

I was there ever since you made the video of "How does it feel like to play STRIX", five years ago. My friend introduced me this game late 2016, and I absolutely loved it. The more simple times where the game was rising to match head on with Overwatch. (currently have 8.5K hours according to Steam) Looking back at it, I never realized we were in the good ol' days until those days disappeared. The matchmaking similar to 14:38 has to be one to be one of the reasons why I'm slowly fading away from this game. (aside from bugs of course, can't forget about those) But you, Raven, really are one of the reasons I continued playing this game and made Buck my flank main. You're one of the reasons this game is still going even though it's on life support. And I want to say thank you for really bringing this into the community's eyes (and possibly really grinding out Hi-Rez and Evil Mojo for their negligence). Without you, I feel like the player base of the game would've dropped to rock bottom long ago. But great video as always, fellow Raven, and I hope to see many greater videos in the future!

Another banger! I started Paladins back in 2017 where I got addicted to it for a while. I stopped playing in a few months because of how boring it got, and then got back to it recently. I can't deny that the game runs really dry really quick, the maps, the characters, the sounds, all of it just bothers me more and more. I'm going try out Overwatch 2, hopefully i'll like it so I can have a game like Paladins where I can have some more fun! Looking forward to the History of Paladins video, it's one that needs to be made and I'm glad you're doing it!

paladins will always live in my heart as a kid who had a shit pc, this game got me into gaming, this and csgo. I just think the lack of funding from the company led to this downfall, i'd pin it all the way back to the removal of the esport. With no professional players to test the limits of the game, the dev team didnt have to worry about the balancing as much. But thank you paladins for getting me into gaming.

Paladins switch console player here: There is a bug that has been here for maybe 2 years and the bug literally force closes the app and then prevents u from rejoining the match Bc of this you aren’t allowed to play or even find a new match (The game tries to reconnect to the match but cant bc of the bug so u are denied from even getting to game menu it basically soft locking in a way) Worse part about this bug is that it’s random and happens wayyy to often every time I play It sometimes has happen twice or even not at all The audio bug is enough on its on but a bug that down right prevents u from playing the game is unacceptable

I played paladins since the release of the beta and man, what a journey, I even reach top 20 Pip player on ps4 at some point, but sadly, I reach a point where is was no fun playing it anymore, crashes, lag on 9 out of 10 matches, hackers, trolls. What even is the point of playing a game where you are going just to be angry instead of having fun? It is really sad to see the current state of the game I spent so many hours playing.

I can confirm the matchmaking is horrible like one time, in CASUAL i play against full grandmasters and my team was full of grandmasters with one of the best pip player, Razorback. My question is how and why...And for bugs, i had a game which litteraly everyone, except me were disconnect, just HOW ?!

I'm so glad that you made this video, all of my friends are Overwatch players. I'm the only Paladins player within my friend group. They've all moved on to Overwatch 2 and I'm just here playing Paladins all by myself. The reason is because I care FAR more for it than I do Overwatch. Paladins NEEDS its player base in order to survive going forward. But with all the bugs and server issues and general lack of polish compared to Overwatch 2... It's like staying by your terminally ill wife while your single, hot neighbor wants you to come over to dinner. You don't wanna do it, but it's VERY tempting! Sadly, I don't have much hope for Paladins ESPECIALLY seeing the numbers that Overwatch 2 has been pulling in. Evil Mojo just can't compete with the juggernaut that is Activision Blizzard.

I joined Paladins around Jenos release and fell in love with the game. I played it so much that the friend who suggested me this game was blown out that i was playing on the first for 16 HOURS straight 😂 i watched it all, the District 69 days and stuff. I was so pumped that i was trying to figure something out with my cousin to move out in Canada from Middle East just to take a shot on esports of Paladins. Reached Masters and Yet.... i haven't played this game for a long time and it makes my eye tear up just to see the state of it. The Bugs, the Balance and Lack of Support Team really made it sour for me

To be very honest, i've been watching you for quite a long time now and i was DYING for you out of everyone else to finally drop a video like this coz oh boy everyone else is busy PRETENDING like the game is fine when in reality; it is not! Paladins needs some serious fixes from so many different aspects indeed coz this game has so much potential as it can be played by a total newbie to someone who's extremely pro due to the variety of champions and their mastery time. Although as you said in the video, it seems that the devs just can't stick to a good long term relationship with any of the staff and hires due to which this platform just keeps ruining its vibe more and more everyday. Maybe if they actually hired some of the content creators in their team it would geniunely make the game better due to their suggestions? idk As for the servers? oh boy don't even get me started.. all i'm gonna say is that i play on EU server from Pakistan and the HELL that i go through every 2 minute when my attacks go through enemies or when i suddenly get pushed off the edge of the map solely while WALKING is unreal. Bans? yeah i dont think i'm gonna say anything here coz it seems that Hi-Rez just thinks they don't exist in their game :) I geniunely hope that this game survives :/ that the devs and people in Hi-Rez actually do something or idk take funds and stuff to invest in the game and make it the amazing title it deserves to be! coz at this point, all i experience is pure suffering when i go against a level 0 Kasumi with my koga only to find her LOOKING in my general direction and killing me from miles away while i gotta precisely land my shots and dodge and weave to share the rest of the enemy team.

Hirez shows the biggest middle finger to its developers. Who is programming in UE3? And I'm not talking about "oh, u know, it's hard to switch" or stuff. If that is your argument, go read the last 999 pages of bug fixes and features added in unreal 4 and 5. You can eliminate 50%+ of all current bugs and performance issues by switching and making working on the rest easier. It would be more cost efficient to remake the game from scratch and implement all the learnings from over the years in UE5. You don't have support for every critical feature of a game engine in ue3. "But they are extending it and developing on their own" - And how many? Hirez has fewer total imployes than any game engine developer has working on the engine alone. Even CDproject Red has thrown in the towel with game engine development after Cyberpunk. You don't develop your own engine while developing your game and having less than 1k employees. Simply not maintainable. Period. The only reason why you would not switch is, because you have abandoned the project and only want to milk it. It's sad, but it's true...

well, Hi-rez is a company famous for fast-delivery games that copy other games that are popular at the moment. They make a cheaper copy, they squeeze as much money as they can out of it, and then move on to the next game. I wouldn't trust much of a company that does that kind of practices

realistically i stopped consistently playing from 2019, when this game was an esport. the maps don't feel like they belong to the game, the lore feels so messy it's embarassing to even have it in the game, some the champion designs feel flawed with gimmicks that are a lot of the time more annoying than anything and were added because they felt cool, completely disregarding the meta. for me the tipping point in this video, when i actually stopped smiling is when you said how they keep teasing gamemodes to come back and adding new maps, gamemodes like payload, which i would pay to see back in the game. it just feels like they are working on the wrong aspects and leaving everything that gives this game character on the backburner. i REALLY hope that next year it will at least have improved a tiny bit, at least i know they aren't completely blind

I think Overwatch 2 will unironically die first and faster than Paladins lol cause Blizzard is an greedy ignorant and stupid company careless to the game and its playerbase. I would dare say that both Paladins and Overwatch are in a similar situation regarding the company that runs them and their omitted mods and devs. Overwatch 2 has just launched and already has a lot of complaints about stupid decisions and problems about and beyond various aspects from the game itself. I'm currently playing and I like both games but I'll certainly stick more to Paladins cause it amuses me the most on it's in game mechanics like the cards buids and the characters.

The crashes are the worst Im often playing with my friends and having your game crash at the start of matches is pain especially because load times on my machine is way too long so very often we end up losing a match because on the first half a bot took over and the bots are dogshit

Very honest review and similar to my view, i used to play paladins a lot but couldn't keep playing because of the bugs have upwards of 1000 hours but cant make myself to play it again sad to see such a good idea of a game die

On a note about OW2, it might be end up ruining it's stride because of its own issues, some of which are comparable to Paladins.

I'm interested now that I'm watching this 6 months in the future if there are going to be any changes to the amount of people playing now that OW team announce they aren't going to be developing the PVE anymore.

Paladins feels like you always have to play as the new character to win

Paladins is a such a weird game. I don't really understand how a game that is being actively developed can feel like it's on maintenance mode at the same time.

I’m in a similar boat, been playing the game for ages alone since the first patch it came on Xbox and had been following the game for even longer and saw the game take this downward spiral, with that being said I never really knew the reason behind it, i always just assumed that it was because the game was built on the finest spaghetti code but the porting over to other engines and constant shifts in dev cycles just make me really sad, I really wanna see this game get bought out by a company that is passionate about these kinds of games and has the reach, staffing and revenue to turn this game around and make it as good as it can be. I’m not a cryer but goddamn I wanna weep whenever I think about this game, dying a slow death in the corpse of a game that’s trying to be 30 different things at once Who knows, they’ve got a new map coming out now, maybe there’s still some potential yet but the overwhelming majority of my brain is saying “don’t get your hopes up man”. I don’t play the game as much anymore, I can tell I’m yearning to play it but I can’t bring myself to without friends and it gets harder and harder to get friends hooked on the game as I did all those years ago, yet on the off chance i do play it, I have a lot of fun, it’s refreshing to play but each match just makes the “play” button get harder to click for no reason Love you raven, your videos area big part of why I still follow the game as they’re always a delight to watch

Great Video. Personally I don't even get playable Ranked games anymore (EU server). The majority is with a bot or someone trolling. I agree that the only solution is cross play ranked and a faster match making with a more simple picking and banning process.

I was one of the most toxic players in paladins during the early seasons. The only time I ever got banned was by just happening to run into some dumbass virgin who said they were the moderator of the paladins discord and had "connections". I was banned within a day after years of slurs, leaving, and afking. I also played with/versed streamers constantly who all said the same thing like "enjoy your ban bud", but not a single time did I get banned. They have been coasting on the brink of bankruptcy for like 5+ years now and are probably as surprised as we are that it hasn't gone under yet.

I still sailing the Paladins ship too my friend. Perhaps we'll see land one day but until then, may the Hi-Rez Seas treat you well.

I had gotten a PS5 earlier in the month, and since there was a decent amount of space and about 2 months from me playing, I had decided to download it. Boot up the game and just went to the shooting range to just brush up on shooting and my sensitivity, before going into the game. I leave the shooting range, and it keeps telling me I have new items unlocked, even though the items that were being showed were from over 4 years ago when I got them. I hit close all and the pop up comes right back. Close the game and reopen, and the bug was still there. It’s really a shame, because Paladins really just felt nice to play, when you were able to actually play the damn game. If anything, I find it hilarious that before they actually dropped the beta from the title and announced it as an actual game, there were less bugs in it.

I sometimes just think abt if paladins have the same clean quality as overwatch while keeping what made it fun in the first place, it would be a lot more alive right now.

Meanwhile every single OW2 youtuber: We wanted PVE, bugs n glitches, even if fixed we get lots of throwing and AFK like Paladins, matchmaking is shit, meta is broken, battlepass is FAR more stingier and maybe illegal, goodbye OW2. The lesson..... Back to TF2 again? Dunno, Paladins only advantage was and is still their skins, and yes I mean the lewd fanservice ones

Hey Raven, as someone who's played on and off since OB34, I 100% agree with what you've said here. It's extremely frustrating that nothing has been in a positive direction, and the few glimmers of hope are utterly destroyed by the next update, or the sheer lack of actual commitment. Why am i here Edit: I 100% will die to this day saying that Romanova was the worse community manager choice ever made. Period.

Im more than happy that someone see and said AAALLL these things , I thought I was the only and thinking that the game isnt for me and its getting worse. And I say this with great sadness, I remember it when the fun matter and there we're just a few bugs that diminished. Its just sad how this game became this..

I liked Paladins a bit in the beginning when it was fresh and in beta if i remember correctly. Then it went public or something, they addet Meave or sum shid and it killed my PC, destroyed a RAM slot and stick and I was like: hell nah I aint risking it anymore and never touched it afterwards.

I literally got an email from the game that told me that they were “missing me” because I haven’t played it in like a month 😂😂

Playing Overwatch again after 3 years just made me miss Paladins. Then I see this video.

Who actually knows what the development team management team is doing I used to love this game and basically no life it I had basically over 2,000 hours. The state of the game just makes me depressed so I stopped playing for about 4 to 4 and 1/2 months and I return for like 15 hours I played like three games and I got banned permanently for cheating? I spoken to support from a high-res they say they can't do nothing so I make a ticket to the actual easy anti-support and they don't see the ban. People that are talking trash to friends get extremely long bans, your people who are openly racist don't get banned. Who truly knows what's going on with the constant changing development team the support team that borderline sucks, to the bugs that can be easily repeated. Even with the overwhelming amount of negatives about the game I still did enjoy it. I'm officially finished with this game. I wish anyone luck that's still plays.
