thats exactly what these queerdo propagandists want everyone to think, that the most innocuous communication between two human beings has to be interpreted as a deep sexual desire.
Same, yeah. She's clearly nicer and more warm to her than some of the others, but so far it seems to mostly be sympathy and intrigue based on sharing a Master.
@shadowcat1606 - NO!!! It's the goddamn gay agenda, dammit!!! Why are they forcing us to accept that some characters in a galaxy of quadrillions of beings aren't exactly like ME???
@@shadowcat1606 and for her situation she is in. I didnt interpreted it as love/crush or whatever. Even if it will develop that way that wouldnt be a big deal for the show and could in fact be interesting consdidering she isnt that well versed hiding her feelings it seems. Same thing like her master for Osha. He was somewhat a father figure for her after all and also feels responsible for her
Osha is pretty boring right now. The only thing she did in the show was miss a stun shot and that's it. The character has no agency, she is taken up and down the galaxy for some reason and only the jedi characters do something. Either Yord keeps switching between being an old friend to her or the dick mistrustful guy, and Dafne Keen's character is too much of a side character for us to care for her. There were times we cared for some random clone officer in TCW.
@cipher48 I've watched Amandla Stenberg, she is an AMAZING actor but she probably copying the acting of Natalie Portman's Padame who is also amazing but gave a stilted performance
@@shadowcat1606 The conversation between Yoda and Anakin is about letting go the fear of death of those that close to you because in the end they will always be with you through the force and you will be with them again once your time has come until than you should honor their memories and live on.
They shared like two lines of dialogue with each other prior to this episode. Now, there's just suddenly a connection out of nowhere just because...what? Also once again, Jedi are allowed to have feelings for others, they just can't possess those people for themselves.
“Those who cannot conceive Friendship as a substantive love but only as a disguise or elaboration of Eros (erotic love)betray the fact that they have never had a Friend.” - C.S. Lewis
I don't mind the gay characters, It just feels pushed and unnecessary... The Jeckie character just feels like she there to tell us that Osha is gay... Who cares if she is, why do the writers feel the need to tell us and make sure we know she is... Why not use the time, energy and dialogue to push a better story...
Agreed, if the female only witch cult needs offspring, that's fine and fits. If Mae says he or they to an alien that's fine but this seems uneeded and pushy.
There's this huge outcry that's like "GAY WITCHES", "LESBIAN WITCHES" | and, it's like bro... no one's even kissed yet lol I don't see how it's forced or in your face from that perceptive, in terms of what little is there with Osha and Jeckie's characters that's a different story
@aylinilya. This is literally just the actor saying how she interpreted and played her character, literally nothing is more natural than the actor taking it that way.
If the actress says she “thinks” her character might have a crush on another character then she doesn’t “know.” If she doesn’t “know” it’s because it wasn’t part of the script or direction. So, I don’t believe we will see this issue addressed further during this season.
"..as a Jedi you're not allowed to have feelings for other people." - Dafne Keen Is there really no actor from the Acolyte that knows Star Wars at all?
It's not at all unheard of for actors to something read something into a script that informs their performance, whether it's there or not, and then for the writers to pick up on that and expand it. Especially in serialized media like a TV series. Even if nothing comes of it in the first season, if they get a second season... who knows?
yep. Stargate did the same with their cast and many other shows as well. You reach a point where the actors know their chars very well where such thoughts are also getting very important. Someone like Tealc in Stargate doesnt talk much and it would feel weird to see him talking nonstop out of nowhere for example.
@@suezcontours6653 Uh strong black lesbian protagonist? Romance born out of a single interaction? What the hell did Anakin had to do with anything anyway? And why are you calling me a hypocrite when you clearly have no idea what I meant? Are you this delusional that you need to invent a person to own in a debate? Get a life man
There is a lot to unpack from Episode 4 as I replayed certain scenes over and over and let’s make predictions for Episode 5. Qimir or not Qimir, that is the question… Qimir: How do you kill a Jedi without a weapon? It has to be some sort of test, right? You engage unarmed, but you can use their saber if you disarm them? Or is that cheating? I’m just curious how you’re gonna do it this time. You’ve failed so much. Mae: I didn’t fail. I killed Indara and I killed Torbin. Qimir: But you killed them “your way.” You have to kill the Wookiee without a weapon. Your Master wants you to.. Mae: What kind of deal did you make with him? Qimir: I didn’t. Uh, *we* didn’t exactly. I… I just owe him. You know how he is, he collects people. Mae: I’ve never seen his face. Have you? Qimir: You know I haven’t. Oh, look, there it is. The perimeter. I thought when Qimir said *”we* didn’t exactly” after he said *“I* didn’t” to be strange. Is he including Mae as part of the deal? Why say we when Mae was asking him directly? And then listen carefully to how he said “he collects people.” He said *people* in a serious tone the same way he told Mae that “he’d kill you.” All the tea leaves points to Qimir as Smilo Ren. He changes the topic quickly after Mae asked him if he’s seen the Master’s face. And then his obvious rush to get to Kelnacca (or Kelly as some Redditors call him). Why is Qimir in such a hurry? Because he knows the Jedis are coming? He needs Mae to perform his final task? Is Qimir the acolyte, the apprentice, or the master? Because that Force push was pretty strong. He seems stronger than being only an acolyte or an apprentice. And he floated down like he’s Batman ‘89. Remember the last time we saw Qimir, he was hanging upside-down from a tree. He had the higher ground the last time we see him. But what if Qimir is NOT Smilo Ren even though a majority of us already believe it is him? He did disarm Mae rather easily in Ep 2 and already said the first sentence of the Sith code. But why reveal himself? There is a scene right before Qimir got caught in Mae’s trap that it looked like he really was going to fetch her for more water. Some people are saying he knew it was a trap but I don’t know? It looked genuine right before he got caught upside-down. Mae screamed HELP! and then you see Qimir running towards her with concern in his face. And how he told Mae that he cares. Remember last year when everyone tried to predict who Marrok was in Ahsoka only to find out he’s smoke underneath it? Say we take his word and Qimir has never seen the Master’s face. Then he’s only assuming the Master is a he. What if it’s a she? I’m also reading from some Redditors believing it’s Vernestra. Why does she keep hiding these missions from the Jedi Council? And some think she sent Sol and that crew on a secret mission so they can kill all the loose ends. Of course if it’s Vernestra, it may piss off some SW fans who already know her from the recent High Republic comics from 3 years ago which Lesyle is using it as some of her source material + EU. Not to sound mean but Vernestra has a face I want to slap. Rebecca Henderson is Lesyle Headland’s real life wife, but Vernestra has a face I want to slap. Maybe because she’s green and bald. Doesn’t have a trustworthy face. I saw one Redditor thinks it’s Indara and that she didn’t really die after that opening scene. That she’s the Master. BTW, Manny Jacinto is listed at 5’11 while both Carrie-Anne Moss and Rebecca Henderson are both listed at 5’9. If Trinity is the Sith Lord all along after we all thought she died in the first episode would be quite hilarious. 😂 She could survive that small knife wound if Reva and Sabine can survive lightsaber cuts through their bodies. Let’s say Qimir is Smilo Ren and is the acolyte. He’s using Mae to perform his last test of killing a Jedi without a weapon. That’s why he was in such a rush for Mae to get to Kelnacca. But he killed Kelnacca with a lightsaber. He’s not passing his final test. Mae didn’t technically kill Torbin. He chose death. The poison could be considered a weapon or not but he chose to die. Mae didn’t kill him. I don’t understand Qimir revealing himself against 8 Jedis when he could’ve just left the scene if he knew Mae had a change of heart and was going to rat on him. I do agree with Star Wars Meg that The Acolyte should’ve dropped all episodes entirely ala Stranger Things. I grew up watching LOST (2004-2010) years before The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, so I can understand the frustrations waiting a week to find out what happens next. A new generation may not have the patience for a mystery show dropping one episode per week. It’s actually quite unfair to judge The Acolyte because we are essentially looking at a puzzle 🧩 with missing pieces to the big picture. It would be like judging only the first half of Knives Out, Glass Onion, Death on the Nile, Clue, or any Scooby-Doo episode before we get to the final reveal. The Acolyte is basically a *whodunit* series. I’m not saying it’s great but it is quite unfair to judge it knowing it’s hiding a lot of things from the viewers. Alex from The Angry Joe Show said the one who killed Kelnacca was Bazil. I know he said it in jest but it was quite peculiar to see Bazil right before Mae found Kelnacca dead. He was not seen for most of that episode. Then we finally see him, Mae finds out Kelnacca is dead. We definitely got robbed not seeing Kelnacca not getting into a fight. What a jip! We get excited seeing a Wookiee Jedi after Ep 2 and we still didn’t get to see him fight for his life using a lightsaber. 🤦🏻 So wrong. The show does look quite cheap. Now where they filmed Khofar was somewhere in Madeira, Portugal. It was quite beautiful but then there are certain scenes to this show that looks bland and cheap. I don’t feel the immersion from it. Coruscant looks bland to me. It looks like a ghost town and it’s only 100 years before TPM. Where’s all the flying ships and tall skyscrapers surrounding the Jedi Temple? A hundred years difference is not going to make Coruscant look that bland and dead. The Acolyte costs $180M when it looks worse than Ahsoka at $105M. Heck, worse than Godzilla Minus One at only $15M. House of the Dragon revealed it’s first episode from Season 2 and that episode at around $20M looks 10x better than The Acolyte. Ahsoka used tons of Volume but I consider it the 2nd best looking among the SW Disney+ series behind Andor ($250M). Some shots in The Acolyte looks like something out of a Star Trek TV series. I don’t agree with Meg’s opinion from yesterday that the Star Wars Prequels looks far better than the Disney+ series. Only Revenge of the Sith still looks decent today but The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones have showed their age after 22-25 years. Check TPM’s scene between the Gungans vs. Droid Army. Very little green texture. Then AOTC’s Battle of Geonosis looks even more awful to me now than it did in 2002. The SW Disney+ looks better to me because it is mixing real location, Volume, and green/blue screens while the Prequels relied on most of the latter although I did visit The Plaza de España in Seville, Spain. It’s the scene when Anakin is holding Padmé’s luggages in AOTC. That was one of the biggest complaints of the Prequels. Most of the backgrounds didn’t feel real. It was like the actors were put in an animated movie or some video game from the PlayStation 3 era. Episode 5 Predictions? The obvious one is 5 of those 8 Jedis not named Sol, Yord, and Jecki will be redshirted and should be killed right away from Smilo Ren. But what happens then? Call me Chato predicts Sol will be captured and it becomes a rescue mission for Mae and Osha. Or what if Osha is captured and it’s a rescue mission for Sol, Mae, Yord, and Jecki? Or if it’s called Night, Sol (meaning Sun ☀️) dies in it? Smilo didn’t kill Osha but Smilo seemed to toss her away pretty easily with the Force. I think Smilo is going to use her to turn. Maybe that’s why the reveal. Since Episode 4 left us with a major cliffhanger, I think Episode 5’s viewership is going to spike up. As bad as The Acolyte has been, people are still curious who is Smilo Ren and who really killed the lesbian witch coven that we didn’t see in the previous flashback episode since we only saw it from Osha’s perspective. What are the Jedi hiding? Why did Torbin feel so guilty? My money is on Vernestra but I think it’s 90% Qimir. But I want to bet on a longshot. Everyone was dead wrong on Marrok last year. Vernestra is still a fairly new character from the comics/novels. If it’s her, I don’t think fans would get too mad. Now the person who killed the witch coven may not be Smilo Ren. That could be a different character. Manny Jacinto is 38-years-old. But his character might be younger in this series and might be too young to commit killing the witch coven. Smilo Ren? 90% Qimir 2% Vernestra 2% Koril 2% Aniseya 2% Indara 1% Sol’s evil twin 1% Bazil Here’s Vernestra’s convo with Sol. A way of trying to throw us off? Vernestra: I fear Mae is only a small part of her Master’s larger plan. A plan that is difficult to see. Some sort of shift. Something to tip the scales. Vernestra might be the Master and Qimir is Smilo Ren as either the Acolyte or her Apprentice. Episode 5 titled, Night, might be the banger episode we’ve been waiting for! Or it could still stink it up as usual…. What if the last four episodes kicks some serious ass? That’s quite a shift from hating it to loving it. From worst to best in a hurry. It’s like the Prequels, GameCube, and Kobe Bryant during their prime. Hated back in the day but beloved now from a generation who grew up on them.
There is no hint towards that kind of relationship and if it were thats also not an issue at all. It could be interesting too, cause jedi having more feelings than allowed cause issues.
@@RandomNPC001 this was just an actor comment buddy. In the Show she doesnt do anything that make it Look like she is romantically or sexual attracted to Osha
As I believe, the showrunner of the series made a very cheap advertising campaign for the series, which would infuriate many right-wing people with an agenda that the series practically does not have. That is, they assure the right that the series is so wrong that everyone needs to see what's going on there. I think actress Jackie's answer is also part of the advertising campaign. .
I do have a mild fear that Jeki is going to die in episode five and I actually hope that is not going to happen. Despite how much character building that will cause for Sol (the best) and Osha.
None of this mattered for Uhura, Princess Leia, Ripley, Sarah Conner, Tasha Yar, Dr. Crusher, Diana Troi, (the old) 7 of 9, Samantha Carter, Athena, Starbuck, Guinan, President Roslyn,.... so on. But now there is no character development only what they do in their private quarters matter! FFS!
At this point it's like...what can you do? What can you say? I don't let things like this bother me. I mean complaining on social media and websites in silos doesn't do anything. It's a waste of not only time but energy. 💯

@@aylinilya. It's almost like the majority of Star Wars fans want to get _the hell away from the real world and enjoy some escapism in a galaxy far far away._ Having diverse/queer characters for the sake of making them diverse which makes them flat and one note is jarring and off-putting. I haven't heard people outside of a few actual bigots whinging about the lesbian couple in Andor... because they're characters first, sexuality second. Making a big deal about characters sexuality is a sign of bad writing, plain and simple.
@@internetzenmaster8952 exactly, just don’t get upset when a character is gay, don’t make that the reason why they’re a bad character because it’s not, just like the skin colour or gender has any bearing on the writing
"wonderfully queer agenda" makes me wanna ask two things: 1) I thought there was no agenda? 2) what does that mean? what aspects of the story are queer?
Don't men often talk to women they like and ignore or disparage women they don't find desirable? Seems like this is going in the same direction, Jecki told the dude to put his shirt on even though she invaded his space... meanwhile is nice to the girl she finds attractive? That's how it goes.
I wouldn't be surprised if Jecki and Osha run off together at the end while characters like Sol and Yord dies (also the other Jedi in episode 4 in the forest). All so people like Ki-Adi Mundi and Verneestra keep the incident with the masked Sith and twins a secret.
this is the third queer ship that might, MIGHT, be cannon in starwars history, and why the heck don't we. As long as relationships don't feel forced who cares if they r straight
When messaging, diversity and representation (except for white men) is at the forefront over things like writing, plot, acting, etc... therein lies the issue.
@@canadianrage5224we literally don’t even know if jeckie is gay that’s just what dafnee keen things i really don’t see the problem of making new characters that happen to be gay
@@antonn.mp4You’re not understanding what I’m saying, so let me reiterate. I don’t care if a character is gay... I mean truly.. I don’t. What I do care about, is good writing, acting, plot etc. This should be the primary focus of any show/movie... so when I watch a show like The Acolyte fail at all these key areas that go into making a show good, and then I watch interviews by the lead director talk about how this is the “gayest” Star Wars... it rubs me, and many fans, the wrong way. Why? Because that alone confirms the director of The Acolyte, cares more about messaging, diversity and representation, over all else. And also what I and many fans dislike, is when a show uses this as a shield to defend their terrible show, cuz everyone who dislikes it gets called racist, sexist, and homophobic. So to clarify, we don’t care if a character is gay. What we do care about, is when a show puts all of this at the forefront... because then that results in a lack of good acting, plot and writing. I hope you understand, because I seriously can’t make this any more clear.
i mean in terms of queerness… not really, only examples i can think of are kotor, andor and acolyte (plus some novels) so like not much. but i mean the alien diversity is cool
Really? I find those answers rather ambiguous and vague. The interviewer specifically asks about romantic feelings, and Keen just said she's not supposed to have feeling and that she likes Osha.
I mean if Jakie has a crush on her... ok? I'm sure we've all had crushes on celebrities and such who were older, I guess it'd be kinda weird if they got together tho
Literally nothing wrong with that age gap, it's practically nothing in terms of age, they are both adults and characters even below 18 are allowed to have crushes, particularly where there is no authoritorial relationship whatsoever.
@@andreababcock2622 i understand a lot of fans arnt bigots and just arnt happy with the story but I mean look at the comments on this video and the comment right above you’re there are a lot of homophobes
I thought thier relationship felt very forced and weird. Like when Osha was like "dont tell me you're gonna miss me" I was like "uuuhh youve known eachother for like 2 days and dont forget that jedi thought you were a murderer and was about to throw you in proson. And I didnt even think of it as a "crush" relationship, just friends and it still felt forced, too fast and unrealisitic connection between two characters
So I guess attachments mean nothing according to these people lol she’s a Jedi she shouldn’t have love interests and she corrected Sol about his attachment to osha what a hypocrite it’s not true because the actor says they think. Just because you think doesn’t mean it is. Whenever they say I think it’s their interpretation and their head cannon not actual fact much like how they think R2 is a lesbian now or C-3PO if that’s your fantasy sure whatever but it’s not respected across the board of the fans and franchise. Tired of random people thinking just because they work on a project they get to determine stuff without actually telling someone who actually knows or works on a franchise if it’s ok to say just to turn around and tell a reviewer or reporter with no 100% knowledge of anything they are talking about.
Didn't Obi-Wan have an attachment to Satine, Didn't Anakin have an attachment to Padme, doesn't Cal have an attachment to Merrin, Didn't Sabine have an attachment to Ezra, didnt Luke have attachments to his friends. I could go on and on about all the Jedi in this franchise that have forbidden attachments. This would be no different than any of those relationships, so why complain about this attachment and not all the other Jedi breaking the rules.
Next time ask instead trying to sound smart because you clearly don’t understand what I’m saying lol. Also I find your lack of understanding the concept funny she’s asking Sol about his attachment which shows she’s more strict or obeys this rule more than a master. Yet Sol corrects her it’s not the attachment that she’s thinking about. And yes Kenobi had attachment to Satine but never acts on it so even if she likes OSHA she wouldn’t act on it because she already shows that she obeys the Jedi code of no attachments so if she all of a sudden acts on this she would be kicked out of the order because she disobeys it. Which is unlikely. Anakin literally had to keep it a secret from everyone. Luke had feelings for his friends because he’s a grown person by the time he learns of the Jedi teachings but this changes in legends because that’s literally what lead to his fathers downfall Cal grows up away from the Jedi ways because he’s in hiding and he uses dark side powers because he lacks control due to the fall of the Jedi order so he’s not the best to say what’s really jedi ways. Plus joining up with Saw really proves that because Saw is unethical and Cal joining his forces shows Cal is willing to by pass his Jedi teachings. Kenobi literally shows what all Jedi with attachments do remember Secura told Ahsoka she had attachments with her master? What about Ahsoka and Lux? Thing is none of these became a lover in the long run who are in during the time period of the Jedi order or you know the Republic where the Jedi is predominantly found unlike the Empire where their ways are less practiced for example Cal because i don’t know other Jedi use their ways to hunt them down and there is no order to correct misbehaving practices like Cal does. what the actor suggests is yes they are a couple or will be but Ahsoka and Lux wasn’t a couple Kenobi and Satine were never a couple they only had feelings and during this time period I highly doubt this girl all of a sudden has a love interest with OSHA because they just met and she isn’t as strict on her beliefs anymore. Also the two never shows a love interest Kenobi Satine showed it Ahsoka showed it Lux kinda shows it but then leaves to be with Saw’s sister, Anakin and Padme shows it Cal and Merin shows it. So if they have an interest in each other why do they not show it? Why does it take an actress to suggest it? It’s out of character from what we literally see her act in the show. You’re not the only one who can bring up Jedi attachments and act smart. So please don’t be trying to turn what I said into a bad thing if your confused about what I said how about you ask instead of acting like your smarter because nah duh Jedi have feelings Kenobi says this in CW in the Rush Clovis episodes so how about you rethink what my topic is about and think about the time period and how this Jedi girl acts to this exact rule.
@brandongreen8004 just to make sure we clear this up i don’t have an issue with it but the show never shows this claim nor does it say it in the show. But an actor or actress just can’t go around saying it happens just because they think so don’t believe me there’s the mando and Bo Katan ships it’s not real but there was talks on set about it but in the Star Wars universe there is nothing between them. Much like with R2 being a lesbian R2 isn’t that’s someone’s head cannon much like this relationship or crush between these two. The issue is it’s not being shown or being told in the show. And it’s out of character for this character particularly because she’s literally the one who addresses Sol about attachements lol. I think that’s the issue people are taking away from this one really because look at the comments they are acting more as friends not a love interest and I don’t think being a friend is having a crush so it’s not being taken seriously like Cal or Anakin or Kenobi
Bromance and sisterhood is going to toss… Why don’t they just stick to that. I removed queer folks wanted Poe and Finn to be gay… I mean they can just be best friends!
