I thought there were so many cool characters in Rouge One that someone with two or more brain cells would have spun them off with their own prequels… but no… Star Wars died for me when I sat in a movie theater and laughed incredulously at the sight of Luke drinking green dinosaur milk for absolutely no benefit to a plot… I didn’t walk out, but wished I would have. Haven’t spent another dollar on Disney since.

I watched Star Wars since the initial theater release in 1977. My son was born in 1982 and he's watched Starr Wars since he was old enough to process the presentation. His son is 16 and he enjoyed the original star wars movies via DVD/BluRay, until the Last Jedi. Trying to find something at least mildly charitable to say about the newest Acolyte offering, I can say that Kathleen Kennedy, Leslye Headland (and the other guilty parties) do seem to have accomplished something that is historically significant. That is to say that, due to the production of Acolyte E3, they (the guilty parties) have reached back to 1957 and successfully replaced Edward D. Wood Jr.'s disaster (Plan 9 From Outer Space) as the new worst motion picture ever produced by human beings. The scene planning, dialog and sequencing appear to have been planned out in about 30 minutes, over a pastrami sandwich. The product is a mesmerizingly awful mess. I am left resenting the fact that there are a few hours of my life that have been wasted on viewing this mongrel production, with no hope of ever being able to recapture that time. I am part of a very large crowd of people who paid money for tickets, purchased SW toys (for our kids) and various VHS and DVD productions of the first six S.W. productions. During that period, Lucas Film never uttered a single negative word about my economic support of the S.W. franchise. However, now that the "guilty parties" have stridently produced disaster after disaster, it is now (according to them) somehow my fault that such a small minority of the public has chosen to waste money on their productions. They have forgotten the first rule of success in any business: know thy customer.

I told my 15 year old son about episode 3 and he said “Dad, you shouldn’t be watching that.” Goes to show boys have absolutely no interest in Star Wars. Star Wars episode 7 and beyond needs a hard reboot with a new studio. Lucasflim needs to be done.

It will be alright. I'm a huge Star Wars fan myself, spent thousands of hours with Star Wars Galaxies MMO until they shut it down, played all the games, read many books of the expanded universe, most the movies/shows.. spent a lot of money. I can't tell you at this point the last time I spent money on Star Wars, actually I'm pretty positive I've given Disney $0. I refuse to pay for it, as it isn't Star Wars anymore. Their goal was to transform Star Wars into their own and redefine it, and use the shell of Star Wars to manipulate people and indoctrinate them into this hive mind where we all think the same, say the same, and believe the same. Not very diverse to me. Star Wars has been finished for some time now, I've accepted it. It should be offensive to people that they feel they can take over a label, make it into something opposite, and still try to refer to it as the same thing. If they want to make a new series, why not do that? Why do they have to use someone elses vision to hijack it rather than make their own vision and execute it through non parasitic means? Because the original was good, and had views, and its the views that they are after. They made it quite clear that they believe the way to manipulate people is to do/say something again, and again, and if people see it and hear it enough times they will absorb it to be true. In this case people will forget what Star Wars was, and believe this is what Star Wars always has been. I don't think it's going to work though...

I kno it is kind of just hurtful. I was so excited with the first Force Awakens trailer. Second trailer.. I got that feeling back...but also felt nervous.. Carrie Fisher not giving chewie a hug really messed with my head. I have not been excited for a single release ever after the force awakens came out i kind of realized what was happening then. They have spent so much money. There has to be something up. You cant spend 400 million and get Indy 5 or 180 million and get an episode. I have a weird feeling Disney is a front for some unseen evil allowed to move about. That's just me tho. I believe Rouge One may have been the only good flick this whole run. But they took out that part where she is charging the beepy tower switch and an x wing glides by...and like the pilot got sucked by a hentipus. I haven't been able to watch anything since Indy 5 that's Disney. That hurt really bad. I want to see Deadpool Wolv but idk.. This has to be divide and conquer shit..the higher ups hit us at all angles. I never thought I would hear coven of lesbian witches in the same plot summery as anything star wars. The worst part is that us long term fans were teased with that epic Luke Skywalker entrance at the end of Mando 2, thinking that they were going to turn things around? Instead, they completely crapped the bed in Season 3 and BOBF, reducing him to a non character of the story. I’m sure they did it intentionally to give us false hope.
The body of the fans can decide what is canon or not. This will never be canon for me. These Disney people clearly don't understand what it means to be the custodians of a franchise. It is not your personal play thing to take for a joy ride. It's something you should understand the spirit of and judiciously create new iterations of. It should be seen as an honor and a sacred duty. It's not yours to change. It's not yours to destroy. It belongs to the fans and the original creators. You are carrying their torch. You are supposed to shepherd that flame. Everyone who has ever misunderstood this has failed.
Same here. When I was told Lizzo and Jack Black were making an appearance I’ve stopped watching Mandalorian and convinced my family that there was nothing good in Disney for us anymore
I BRIEFLY considered getting just ESPN+ since I wanted to keep track of some sports stuff (I canceled my Disney+ membership years ago), but I just couldn’t justify giving Disney money for any reason. I’ll find other ways to watch the games I was wanting to see.

While I personally think this show is a cluster $%#@! and I will not be watching it, I agree with Lorn. I remember my teen years reading many of the EU books and Witches isn't a Dave Filoni thing. The Witches of Dathomir are out of the books in the EU. I read The Courtship of Princess Leia novel, by Dave Wolverton and they were introduced back then. I am quite sure Luke encounters them while force piloting the Falcon (someone please correct me if I am wrong). Those novels are not out of the High Republic era. Dave Filoni isn't cut out for live action. Stick with animation.

I’m reminded of that interview she gave when Rise of Palpatine came out and she was sitting in front of the Falcon and after she waxed nostalgic about her experiences, she looked back at it and concluded with “It’s a shame it’s all going to be torn down” followed by that wicked witch of the west laugh. I know what she meant, but one can say she was referring to Lucasfilm in general.
The problem with Disney is that every modern creative work has complete self insertion, to the point of total immersion, on anything coming out. Directors, writers, producers have all decided to take their life experiences and make Star Wars about them. They don’t follow the lore, the universe and established characters. It’s now just garbage. I don’t need to see lesbian producers insert lesbians into Star Wars to the point they retcon the entire universe. It’s not because they are lesbian. It’s because that’s tired and old and been hashed to death. We don’t need to know who the entire new cast sleeps with to make good content.
Season 2 is a given. They don’t see it as the garbage that it is-but as fine art to enlighten the uninitiated. Bob Iger laps all this up- he is the final say-not Kennedy.
*SUPPOSEDLY* Iger called after the fallout of the first two episodes and canceled season 2. Sadly that is a rumor, however I do know investors are beyond pissed about this and some other stuff Disney hid to win against Peltz.
Iger doesn't care about this. This was a political run for president that fell apart for him when Trump came onto the scene. Iger turned Disney woke only to try to win the presidency. Lol. People of that networth don't care about anything. Trust me. They're my neighbors.
I agree with Rqndolph here, being in a Star Wars project has now become a detrament in actor or director's career. Lets remeber that no single professional or experience director is willing to work in any Star Wars movie, because of how terrible Kennedy is at managing the production. She is so terrible in fact that she hired and fired 7 directors just for the Solo movie, and it only got "saved" because Ron Howard basically owned Kennedy a favor. So no surprise that no actor is willing to work in any of thia projects. Just gotta look at the career of the main cast of the Sequels, they all badically disappeared or got minor roles in minor movies. Acting, Directing or working in any Star Wars production, really has become a death sentence in your career, all because Kennedy and her writer's room are more interested in politics than entertainment.

Someone pointed out on another channel that this mess is a pre-prequel. What can we take from this? Well, it’s simple. By the time of The Phantom Menace, all LGBT etc Jedi and similar must have somehow all died out because we never see any. So Headache’s effectively dug the minorities their own grave(s).
Well, it only kills Star Wars if you consider it to be Star Wars. Otherwise, it's a joke. Budgetary issues aside, none of this would be a problem if the default canon status for disney content was "non-canon" and "canon status" is only awarded if a show has 3 consistently popular, well recieved seasons, is internally consistent and doesn't rail against established canon. 🤔
I don't understand why it's even worth it to have discussions about the world anymore. Who cares anymore where the witches came from or who the first users were...? Trying to untie this and have it make sense is a waste of time. It's like trying to catalog garbage.

Umm... no. Star Wars was "deleted" on April 25th, 2014 when the last of the original Lucasverse material - The Expanded Universe - was de-canonized by The Serpent & The Rat. Everything *_AFTER_* that was nothing but hot garbage but, the majority of you kept drinking the hype Kool-aid. How easily people forget that back then, when people like myself tried to warn you all that the Serpent & Rat would permanently and purposely destroy STAR WARS, the *VAST* majority of you all just laughed and laughed at me and the others that tried telling you what was gonna happen - which is *EXACTLY* what happened since the release of "rebels" - the quick and utter destruction of STAR WARS. Again, what did the vast majority of you do? You told us that we were nuts. That we were just angry that the Expanded Universe was de-canonized and that we wanted to "rain on everyone else's parade". That you all were gonna enjoy the "best star wars EVARRRR!" when "tfa" came out the following year and that we should just go back to reading our dusty books and pout. There’s a slight problem with that logic. Very slight, but it is there. Had it been done INTELLIGENTLY, decanonizing the EU would have been fine. I would have done it myself just to get rid of the canon tiers the EU operated on and get rid of the few legitimately bad bits of it. However, from there I would have basically put most of the old EU into film or TV series format. 95+% (probably closer to 98%) of the EU would have gone right back to canon in “newer” formats so everything stayed 100% consistent with each other and much of the old EU could make it onto the big screen.
I knew we were in real trouble when that happened. I had hoped that Star Wars could at least get the MCU treatment; pull stories from the EU and weave them together in their own related but unique narrative. It was also a glaring sign of disrespect and disregard for the fanbase. But oh, all those books are still in print with the big old Disney logo on the back now. It's infuriating.
I'm curious to see the returns on their latest star Wars movie project. I seem to take pleasure in seeing Disney go down in flames. Especially when it's so far removed from Walt's orginal vision.
Just watched the Phantom Menace again yesterday after 30 years and learned something. Darth Maul is not the phantom menace, Senator Palpatine is. So the guy smiling benovelently is not necessarily the good guy. Kinda like politics today. Never trust the smiling guy or girl.

No one forces Kathleen Kennedy to stay at her job. She is not kept hostage at Lucasfilm. If she is bothered by the fan backlash, then she could leave. Disney has bought Star wars and they knew that the fanbase can be quite passionate.
Frim what I heard years ago Diesney bought Star Wars, MCU & Indiana Jones to get the male audience since Diesney's main audience had always been females but for whatever reason they must've had some kind of mental meltdown & have achieved becoming toxic to the fans. They blame the fans & continue to double down on the pushing the message. Stupid.
