I understood the process of a Sith apprentice constructing their infamous bloodshine blades involved fabrication of the crystal. Bleeding it as depicted in the comic panel featuring Vader seemed like it would be cool if done right. Osha's depicted crystal bleeding was passionless, bloodless, and comical. She looked clueless rather than fearsome during the scene.

I honestly Hate the kyber crystal bleeding thing. The EU explanation for lightsaber crystals made more sense and blended more sci fi, technical elements. The new canon bs just seems overly mystified and takes away the choice of the Jedi making the weapon. Part of the fun of Star Wars is the blending of Sci Fi and Fantasy and the new canon just....screws that up, and honestly in my thinking the Sith usually having to create their own crystals from nothing is so much cooler. Also, Disney being too lazy to honor their own bs lore is not a surprise.
@johannesseyfried7933

I generally think that the new canon is way too obsessed with crystals. They can be tortured into being evil now, all of Illum was mined for them, the Deathstar apparantly runs on them too now-which I believe was one of George Lucas' very first ideas that didn't make it into A New Hope.
@Bastion83
@Bastion83 Месяц назад
@@johannesseyfried7933 Very much agreed. They are trying so hard to make lightsabers more magic than science along with making them well....mood rings that kill people that only show a color once(the blade color locking once the Jedi chooses the crystal.). I also cant stand that they use the term Kyber crystals because that crystal was supposed to be something exceedingly rare in the EU and more about boost Force powers than ever being a saber focus. Disney takes everything special and makes it bland.

@@Bastion83 I believe the Kaibuur Crystal also lost most of it's powers after Luke removed it from it's shrine, making it useless to both the Empire and and the Jedi. Though.....Luke still kept it on display at the Yavin Academy, iirc. Luke running an actual Jedi Academy.... remember that? It truly is a shame we never got to see anything like that in the Sequels.

"HEADLAND: This was my dream. Again, we talked very early on in the writers’ room about bleeding a lightsaber because, to me, it's a very intimate thing. In a weird way, it’s an earned thing. I talked to Pablo [Hidalgo] a lot. The crystal has to be exposed. She can't hulk out and do it. We've seen it in Fallen Order, and the crystal comes right out, but we knew this is a moment - we don't have time. [Laughs] It would be too premeditated. It has to happen in that moment." She knew what she was doing was rushed and incorrect, but shes a narcissist and she wanted to be the one to show it off first in live action. FUCK leslye headland 2 other things that piss me off about this is: 1: that lightsaber wouldn't function in the state its currently in 2: Even if it DID work, it would have melted her hand off since there's now a HUGE gaping hole in the lightsaber

Kyber crystal bleeding is dumb. It's undermined by Anakin still having a blue blade during his entire Order 66 rampage and battle vs Obi Wan. How do they justify that discrepancy?
@demongo2007
@demongo2007 Месяц назад
Not sure why that's a discrepancy? Vader didn't bleed a kyber crystal until awhile after the events in RotS. He had to go hunt down and kill a Jedi, get *that* guys lightsaber, then go through the intense process of bleeding the crystal. At least that's what happened in the Darth Vader comic, not sure if that's considered canon?
@cgmork
@cgmork Месяц назад
Shills and Leslye will point out, that Osha was touching the crystal and Anakin was not... so obviously Anakins intense hatred would not bleed the crystal... Also Anakin is just a guy, so obviously Osha can do it better, without any training. And even though the lightsaber is severely damaged (the crystal is poking through its casing), it still works flawlessly.
@erickpuma1202
@erickpuma1202 Месяц назад
@@demongo2007the discrepancy is that according to the same Disney Canon, you can "bleed" it (hate that concept) just by being angry, and not that angry, mind you. So that means Vader should have just got a red blade during episode 3, at almost any point. The excuse people who like this garbage show give about the crystal being exposed to the touch doesn't hold water either, as in the comic Vader wasn't touching it directly, because his hands have gloves and they are robotic anyways and he still bled it. So either bleeding is a very easy process and Vader just wasted energy like a fool, or it is an extremely difficult task and this girl just so happens to accomplish it by accident... Like yas queen slay! Also, the kill a jedi to get a crystal is so stupid when you consider that there was a whole Sith empire full of dark side users, and you mean to tell me that each one of them went, one by one through that process, before being at war with the jedi or the republic... That's so stupid...
@MickyChowMein69
@MickyChowMein69 Месяц назад
The phrase "bleeding" is spiritual and not literal, and also she should have been seething with primal hatred. The look on her face was as if she had made a dirty accident in her underpants heh. If the writers had not just skimmed the lore in between slandering the fanbase on social media they would have known that.

Even The Rise of Kylo Ren comics prove this wrong. Ben had fully turned to the Dark Side before he even tried and he’d taken the crystal out of the lightsaber he’d used to kill. He holds the crystal in his hand and screams with rage as he thinks about those people he thinks failed him. He’s in obvious pain while doing so and the crystal turns out broken and unstable. Just like him.

It also goes against Old Republic where there was hundreds, if not thousands of Sith, and we're supposed to believe that after how hard it was for Vader to bleed his crystal, we're now supposed to believe that all those acolytes and apprentices were given crystals and made them bleed any easier?

I still do not get what this Power of 1,2,many was even supposed to mean. At no point, two were more powerful than one or many were more powerful than two. Quite the opposite... 1 Quimir killed many Jedi. 1 Indara kicked many witches out of Kelnaccas head. 1 Basil was more pointless than many other actors. 1 facial expression of Osha/Mae was able to be used for many emotions.

If Oshas Lightsaber is damaged so much, that the blue crystal is sticking through the metal casing, why does it still work at all? Does the crystal no longer need to be optical aligned to focus energy? By the looks, the crystal can just be dropped into a lightsaber tube. And even if you believe in crystal bleeding, why does the blade itself change along its length? Shouldn't a a pure crystal emit a blue blade and a bled crystal emit a red blade, with a transition being some flickering from blue to red along the whole blade? I liked StarWars more, when the Force was not connectecd to a bunch of bacteria in ones blood... when it was still a field that surrounds us all. I also liked StarWars more, when lightsabers were very important tools, but still tools, not wizard staffs with a soul.
@johnbransby6231
@johnbransby6231 Месяц назад
I am not a fan of bleeding crystals, I prefer in legends were the sith crystals are synthetic. That said acolyte did not even get bleeding right, it requires meditation. Light sabers do not break that easily plus the emitter broke off and without the emitter the lightsaber would not work. The lightsaber requires the crystal aligned through the force, an emitter and power supply to work. I believe that Leslie Headland knows nothing about Star Wars, and Filonie and Kennedy need to go

6:23 so in my mind the whole midichlorians thing is the Jedi moving away from the force/spiritual side and getting it all backwards, using the G’kar’s analogy form Babylon 5 they see the light of god behind then casting its light on the wall and they see their own shadow and thing that god looks just like them only in the Jedi’s case it’s they see the midichlorians and think they are responsible for how the force works when in fact midichlorians are they equivalent of antibodies in someone’s blood when they encounter a virus, the antibodies aren’t what makes the virus they get made because the virus is there, the midichlorians aren’t what makes the force they are how life reacts to the force been there, the stronger the force is the higher the midichlorian count will be. The midichlorians build up in a persons body as they use the force making the use of it easy, this explains why at first Luke can bearly do anything but goes on to be as strong as he is, Anakin has already been using the force passively for years when he was found if he was a normal kid he would sadly have been killed long ago.

There's no good reason to depict Kyber bleeding in live action anyway. Jedi: Survivor's graphics are so photorealistic that it might as well be treated as live-action, and the visual of a lightsaber blade changing color? Visions did it already. Been there, done that.

Given that the ideology that these "writers" subscribe to on a personal level is by it's very nature propelled forward by self-invalidating reasonings, it stands to reason that they would have no respect for canonicity. They would simply consider canon as one more set of rules that can be invalidated as long as they can substitute their own set of rules based on the whims and fancy of the activism-du-jour they can leech funding from.

Star Wars used to be a thing nerds loved and other people liked. But Disney wants everyone to love it, and that's just not always possible without betraying the nerds, because we loved it for very basic reasons. For the plots, the good and evil, and pure principles. Headland is not good enough to make it so everyone to likes it, she made a project for her community using people almost exclusively from the community to tell a story about them. And the original nerd community was discarded. And people didn't like it for politics or gender issues, its just she obviously shot herself on the foot by hiring friends and people with an agenda, added her agenda, and thats what made it unsalvageable. The story sucked because of a trash vision, leadership, and because of nepotism. Its like if the redpill community wanted to be represented in Barbie 2 and they hired a red pill showrunner to hire red pill actors and writers to do Barbie 2. Why the hell would someone do that? the story is for and about feminists to love and the rest to like. But Headlant hogged it and poured all her biased anti men visions into it, and then expected everyone to love it. Sucks for her but no one outside her community even liked it.
