Andor never felt like it was hitting you over the head with a sledge hammer to deliver a message or agenda. And it handled all the 'memberberries elements with aplomb, they were there in abundance but never felt intrusive.
@@AIartificalIntellige a TAD boring. I watched it twice and andor(sounds like making a choice 👽🚬) is still the only Disney star wars i would recommend.... Except every one should cancel Disney+. 🍻
@hotfroganimations the plot is all over the place, makes little to no sense, Leslie treated the Canon like a kids toy that was actually something very fragile. She also took away from the main character even more, reducing him to the second being conceived through the Force.
It's gonna be a herculean effort to try and get those back, practically is beyond them at this point, and I think they know it, that's why they're so desperate for that illusive modern audience that never seems to materialize.
@DarkRipper117 Oh, there is an EASY way to do it. They just won't, as it requires admission that they were wrong for one. Then KK has to scuttle her own legacy and decanonize the sequel trilogy, publicly denounce it. Flush everything but season 1 and 2 of Mandalorian, and pick up the pieces from there. But again, ain't gonna happen.
"If Disney wanted to listen to you, and considered you a fan, why aren't they listening to you? They like money, they're a business, if they wanted your money, they'd be listening to you!" *Acolyte gets cancelled* God, I love getting the last laugh.
The Acolyte cost over $600,000 per minute. Andor was the next most expensive at like $500,000 per minute. The Mandalorian seasons were at $300,000ish per minute. For comparison, Game of Thrones was like $100,000 a minute in season 4
I was a fan of SW and Marvel. They killed them both, then got all weird and political in real life. At that point, I was done. I now absolutely DESPISE Disney. I will not offer a cent to this company for all the harm they have done. Even Deadpool, I went out of my way to watch it illegally, just so they couldn't get my money. No offense to Ryan Renalds....I know he already got his money regardless, so it definitely wont hurt him. But I want to see them either go out of business, have a corporate take-over, lose so much money they have to sell the franchises off, or at the very least license them off so someone else is doing the work. But until it's out of their hands, I'm done with Disney.
Disney owns freaking everything. It's ridiculous. No one company should hold that much power. They've grown complacent in their place at the top. Instead of innovating, they think they can just buy success; that if they throw enough money at it, it'll work itself out. Well, it turns out that doesn't always work.
I predict Disney will dump SW in a fire sale within 5 years. The brand has been destroyed and only getting rid of all Disney-created content has a chance of rehabilitating it.
I love your "HELLO, my friends and welcome to The Pondering!" intro! Haha, anytime I see or hear the word pondering I think of this lol. 9:44 - Exactly! How hard is it to keep her therapy session material OUT OF THE SCRIPT?! Smh...
Okay, the numbers vindicate all the YT creators who were saying this is hot garbage. It's and objective data point proven by how much general audiences were watching that show. Here's a silver lining--The Acolyte brought us all together for the first time. I had been out of love with SW going way back, but seeing this new level of hatred and disdain for a Disney property was like a breath of fresh air. All the suffering and genuine rage at Lucas Films was... well, I guess I'm just a Sith at heart. I want to thank you and the other reviewers for the sacrifices you had to make by watching, taking notes, then presenting reviews for Acolyte week in and week out. Very entertaining. And now your conversion to the dark side is complete [evil laugh]!
@@RealLifeFakeWizard My main issue was the absolutely terrible acting from the lead. I can tolerate a lot, but that is such a fundamental element of any show, casting your lead actor. It was overly evident when she looked at the bartender after that initial fight, she should have been at peak emotional distress, and produced... absolutely nothing
@@RealLifeFakeWizard Doesn't matter, this is only America. The Acolyte confirmed something I knew was brewing: Asia+Africa relations since BRICS became global. Companies like Disney and Paramount have been pairing up Asian supportive characters with black female leads because they acknowledge that China and South Korea have a HUGE influence and growing relationship with the continent of Africa now. They cannot sell a product to Africa without the endorsement of Asians because China has won the continent over. Megan Thee Stallion is thriving in the East as well. The West has lost Africa to the Far East nations
It wouldnt surprise me if episode 3 set the tone for everything up to episode 7. Once it kills everyone except for "4.5" main characters in episode 5, I think people realized we had 3 more episodes of filler to tell the rest of the "story" that goes no where.
Two of the star wars fan groups I am in are violently defending Acolyte. They would threaten to and eventually ban people for speaking their critiques of the show. Im glad we have some objective evidence that this show wasn't the popular its fans want to claim it is.
Forget those toxic "fan" groups, unless you really enjoy being in them. I reject the idea of "You're not welcome in the community." Who gave *you* the power to determine what I can and can't like? Bullshit, I don't want to be in *your* club if I can't speak my objective mind. Ya know? lol
@@RealLifeFakeWizard agreed. Ive made similar points to these fan groups, and they just yell over everyone or remove comments. I'm on my way out most likely
I’m not a blind Disney hater, I haven this show a fair chance and they failed each episode I kept hoping it would change but was met with only a few brief scenes throughout the show that are worthy of remembering. I really don’t know if there is much hope outside of Andor. That show I was bashing from the start “why are they picking some random side character from a single movie” but it became one of my favorite series. It’s filled with great writing, moments of emotional resonance and it captures the feel and essence of Star Wars that I haven’t felt in awhile.
This guy is probably right about not wanting the "mystery box crap" stuff. A self contained 2-3 hour story that just kinda wraps things up at the end isn't the worst of ideas. It generally worked for most of the novels.
Imagine the narcissistic mega ego of the sociopath who thinks we give one single solitary shit about her sister not accepting Leslie Headland’s proclivity for gash. WHO CARES?!!!!!
The only thing I watched in connection to Acolyte was people making fun of the show and it ruining the OT lore. My favorite is the deep fake George Lucas watching that travesity and making fun of it.
I love your assessment of Acolyte but regarding the Qimir actor, I have to object, his performance was so cringe and wodden. Especially his "erotic" scenes, where he tried to seduce Amandla was so awful, every amateur cornstar is a shakespeare actor in comparison. And regarding Sol, though the actor is likeable, listening to him in OV, his English was harassing my ears, they literally bled. And I am even no native speaker.
You know there is a good chance your story is crap when "and then they got knocked out again" is a major part of your script. Sorry Leslie. Nobody wants to support your warped sense of good and evil.
Some of the best writers draw from life experience but you can't pick a niche thing from your life that only resonates with a tiny minority. That's what Indie movies are for.
One of the worst written shows. "It has potential" ... yes so had the soufflee I tried to make. But it did fall flat! NOBODY should tell me that the soufflee was awesome, it wasn't. I know it wasn't!
I will say Andor is something that could have been cancelled after the first season and still be completely enjoyable. It does leave threads open for Season 2, but the core premise of the first season (getting him to join the Rebellion) is not left wide open. It is very satisfying to watch, but will be even better with a second season to lead into R1.
Andor has a giant glaring issue: Andor dies in ROGUE ONE. This is one of the biggest problems of Disney-Lucasfilm's Star Warts - their entire catalogue is finite, everything they're making has an immediate end; none of these stories can go anywhere, since all of them fit between other, better stories.
Officially cancelled is what happens to series that are successful, lol. Good riddance to that hot garbage. I am glad it won’t continue. Now if only the same scrubbing that’s happening over at Marvel happens at Lucasfilm.
Also, you mention how you just want something that's something you can enjoy just on its own, but you've also mentioned that you have not watched Andor and refused to do so until season 2 comes out. I think you would quite enjoy season 1 of Andor as a standalone thing. If they never made any more Andor, I would be very satisfied with what happened in season 1.
I'm honestly floored that you somehow watched The Acolyte before you watched Andor and also adding that you hate unsatisfying endings. Andor could be cancelled tomorrow, and it would still have told a more complete story than whatever the fuck The Acolyte was trying to do. Andor is the best piece of live action Star Wars content there is. It's just a good show outside of its association with Star Wars.
I just want to say for anyone watching this video and outraged in this comment section who still has a Disney+ subscription you are the problem. You are literally the problem stop giving these companies your time attention and money if you ever ever ever want anything to actually change have some self-control and stop giving these companies your money .
Andor's big problem is the first half of the season is a slog to watch, it gets a lot better in the second half but the first few episodes probably turn people off! If you hold on you will not regret it, but it's a very slow boil!
It's definitely not crafted to service those with four second attention spans, thank god. Actually super thankful that some projects are still made with an eye towards craft, setting the pacing of the editing to match the story and aesthetic.
You are right. Jack Sparrow has brought me their recent releases, because I'm not giving them my sweet money until they get SW back on track (Which I know is not gonna happen anytime soon).
6:52 see this is what I don’t understand, I wish I could watch a Disney board meeting because. These blunders have gotten comedically Bad to the point it almost feels purposeful. What are these guys laundering money or shorting Disney stock non it makes sense
Like I said before & I'll say it again even if I sound like a broken record...I pretty much agree 110% on everything you said...from the horrible acting to the bad writings of the story as well....from the acolyte, obi-wan kenobi, book of boba fett are really bad.........ahsoka,andor & mando(s3)are ok at best.....ohhh😮😮 & lets not forget the sequal trilogy (e7,e8 & e9)wich were absolutely pieces of (💩💩💩🤢🤢🤮🤮🤯🤯💀💀).....just my opinion.....& just remember the strongest weapon one has in one's arsenal IS YOUR WALLET so until Lucasfilm gets sold back to George Lucas(😂😂😂😅😅😢😢😮😮) or disney just lets someone else run Lucasfilm (other than kk😤😤)for example....IM OUT 😤😤😤NO MORE disney STAR WARS FOR ME😤😤😤😓😓😓😪😪.............
@@RealLifeFakeWizard You tell me. 1 minute after I posted. Went to edit a typo and the comment was gone. Wasn't even offensive... I just want all the Disney/Lucas Exec's to leave the country they clearly hate so much.
@@wrayday7149 It's a youtube thing bro. If people have reported some comment of yours, their bots moderate you for a while. There's nothing to do with content creators. I'm in this boat as well after being ballistic in Disney's comment section 😂
Pure rubbish! The Acolyte was fantastic and only the overly righteous whiners that think they know what Star Wars should be better than the creators, can't see it. I loved it.
I'm sorry, until you can prove that this show wasn't just money laundering like everything else in Disney, "why does it matter," to quote Hillary. I did like your ending refrain: "Just do it™" Here here! I cancelled Disney in my mind in 2015, btw. Compare the recent movie budgets in theaters and the cost of this show was as much or greater than most (!) I watched some of the critics on ytube covering this coating on a garbage can garbage stink, the few critics that are still allowed on ytube like you... and it's so psychotic, satanic, unscientific (physics, f' physics!) and groomery,* I couldn't even follow what Headland Eggs was trying to do. On the upside, one of the retreads (Charlie Barnett) from the Head's prior series , (and yes her "wife" was cast too in that show... season one was ok, given the two other writers did all the writing... second season was complete crap) was finally paid, so he got his back shaved, got a new haircut and was able to get a gym membership, so he didn't look like a fat thin guy (you have to look at him in the prior series to see what I mean...ew). If unsatisfying endings keep you up at night... never get married. You're welcome. ________________________________________ * I made up a word!
