I'm 53 years old, saw the original movie in cinemas in 77, have been through all the new beginnings, the excitement of having SW made in Ireland, married, 2 daughters, one gay... And the simple fact is The Acolyte just isn't very good and most of the joy i had from SW has disappeared. That being said, the critical community are teetering on the edge of hate speech about it. It's ok to not like it because it's just not very good. It's not ok to be racist, homophobic and completely over the top about it.

Really tired of people not knowing how to read Rotten Tomatoes. 60 just means 60% of critics liked it more than hated it. That's all it means. It doesn't mean any of them rated it higher than average. If you get a C-, you pass. It doesn't mean that you aced the class.

@@creedecriswell634 You gotta remember that stats are weighted. Prey has 4x the amount of reviews as Predator. So each negative Predator has brings its percentage done much more. No doubt a drawback for older, less covered movies on the website.

I got to say I'm pretty impressed by your calm disposition while discussing this topic. It true people who have blind love or hatred of something will go out of their way to praise or tarnish anything. This shouldn't discourage friendly discussions about any topic. I just feel like if an overwhelming majority of the fans, you know the product who it was made for, say it's bad, then it probably is bad.

I keep hearing that Acolyte has "great fight scenes" but I watched the first fight scene in the first episode and it was clunky, slow, and had piss-poor characterization for both Jedi!Trinity and Mae. Mae's an "assassin" but rather than sneaking in and poisoning Jedi!Trinity's drink (poison that she is shown having on her later!), or sniping Jedi!Trinity, or setting off a bomb, or anything sneaky like an assassin is supposed to do, she instead strolls up to Jedi!Trinity in broad daylight in front of a number of witnesses, takes a fighting stance and says "fight me with all your strength" like some edgy teen who just watched a kung-fu movie. I'm supposed to take her seriously as a threat after that?

The audience is most likely going to be more honest than the critics. What critics consider a masterpiece the audience might look at as complete trash. Scooby-Doo 2002 for example is that while the audience score was 39% that movie still made well over 200 million dollars with a 84 million dollar budget. So it kinda makes me wonder on the audience score. It kinda sounds like the audience enjoyed that movie. So this is where I think Rotten Tomatoes meddled with the score.

It might be correct to point out that some critic scores are obviously biased, but looking at the Top 250 on IMDb, I'm not impressed with the voting public's ability to assess movies either because simple honesty about tastes doesn't translate into film knowledge or appreciation of quality.

The problem with this is the audience reviews are polar opposites to the critics. 84% vs 14% is insane. The writing is awful. It is like poor fan fiction. 3.5.10 on IMDB is a more realistic score. The shill is strong in this one.

I am a Star Wars fan. I put the show on and after 5 minutes I could not stand how poorly acted the show was I turned it off. The actors and writing is terrible. I’ll go watch dune part 2 again. Which was a return of the king level masterpiece.

A lot of people forget the "audience score" to Rise of Skywalker was like 87%...the worst star wars film I ever seen got glowing audience reviews. Because you have to prove you saw it with a ticket stub to comment on movies now. And people that saw that dreck were way more likely to like it just because star wars. They cannot do that with TV shows, which is why TV shows have a much more honest audience score. ANY of these "modern audience" things get huge critic love, because the critics, as a whole, are the ones totally driving that bus to begin with. Why the new mad max movie got four stars and also bombed. Name your example, and you see it. A lot of film critics are very much far leftists who are total kool aid drinkers for the agenda and actively promote it with their reviews.

Across the Spiderverse overrated?? WOW. One thing I loved about it was the use of theme music for each character. One way to improve the Acolyte would be to give her a theme. Imagine the very first fight scene of Mae vs Trinity. Now imagine if the mostly quiet Prowler theme of menacing horns every few seconds from Into the Spiderverse played during the fight, and the music crescendos (like the Uncle Aaron is revealed to be the Prowler scene) and goes crazy when Trinity is killed. It would completely change the stakes of the scene and establish Mae as a true force to be dealt with.
