Sam Raimi did a great job directing the movies which is why he should have the right to direct a live action movie that focuses on Superman going up against Brainiac and with Supergirl joining in to help the Man of Steel beat his greatest foe after lex luthor. Plus, he should include Silver Banshee in the movie and give her a redemption arc as well to make it as interesting as his Spider-Man movies.

He is a different character. He’s the Sam Raimi universe Peter Parker/Spider-Man played by Tobey Maguire. The MCU earth 199999 Tom Holland version is overrated.

This film hit hard when I watched it as a teen really getting into films. The way Peters survivors guilt was leaned into was way deeper than I had expected for example. Theme’s as well as just plot points in the storytelling which helped pave the way for the comic book movie to be taken seriously.

Yes, Toby Maguire's Spider-Man Trilogy still holds up today. I own all 3 films on DVD. Toby is the goat. The Dark Knight Trilogy and Toby Maguire's Spider-Man Trilogy will never be beat. They were the standard Superhero Trilogies from the early 2,000's.

I remember seeing this iconic Spider-Man 2 movie in theatres when it first came out after going to the mall and it was such a cinematic experience for me as a Marvel fan to have grown up with the Tobey Maguire Spider man movies and it’s sweet that they still hold up today cause don’t get me wrong I don’t mind Holland he’s a ok Spider-Man but he’ll never top Tobey as the iconic Spider-Man.

The aerial scenes of Toby Maguire's Spiderman are unmatched. Unlike the other Spidermen who just web up their opponents. This Spiderman could really have a fist fight.

No way home was fun, but it’s not that significant for cinematic history. Except having the 3 Spider-Men on screen, it’s just a one off gimick that’s not with substantial value. Tom Holland needed 2 other Spider-Men to make his film “good”

@@apexsmokepacker yes it was a MCU movie. Not a Spider-Man movie! Just like Homecoming and Far From Home. And everything was a joke until last 30-40 mins when they decided to make it all serious. Outta place with the rest of the movie which was crap. Tobey and Andrew were the reason people showed up, not because of Tom Holland.

I dunno, I liked the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, but as a student of animation I have always thought Spider-Man worked better animated over live-action IMO. There's just so much you can do whether it's traditional or 3D animated. And unlike live-action you don't have to worry about Peter Parker constantly taking off his mask even when it's not necessary.

Yeah, I also realized how well they characterized Peter when it came to his life totally going to crap. You’re right about how that particular trait would be treated as a joke in modern superhero movies. Just look at Thor in Endgame. I enjoyed Endgame, but Thor’s depression, *DEPRESSION,* was totally treated as a joke.

The irony is all the younger generations who were keen on the MCU are the ones who are constantly in depression...and they were made fun of. Raimi's Spiderman movies realize the border between fun and seriousness and that's how it should be. Like in Batman Begins, when Bruce talks to Fox, those are funny moments but it does not undercut the serious issues from the movie. That's the issue with someone like Gunn, he always breaks a strong emotional moment with some cringe "joke".

Great Movie!!! I do think some elements of it are a bit overrated, but overall it’s great. True to the character, Iconic and good writing. ONE of the best comic book movies! I don’t want to shit on Tom because I kinda know the guy, but I hope his next trilogy takes notes on what the Spider-Man character is all about. Honestly if anything this movie is underrated nowadays when it comes to the general audience…

Tbh I just want another reboot not set in the MCU. I’m tired of Tom Holland version. The MCU had its chance to tell a good interpretation of SM, but waited until movie 3 to finally set up the groundwork. And had 2 other versions help elevate him instead of letting Tom elevate himself without help from multiverse crap. Kinda de values the other continuities having them connect to the MCU and help another SM who never got told by uncle Ben the “great power” speech and instead Aunt May did. Yeah M-She-U is definitely there

There is no contest when it comes to Bully Maguire.I have never even saw or felt the need to watch the others as I always felt no other director would be close to Raimi's versions.Spiderman 3 is admittedly kinda whack but the first two are top notch.

Lol I love the first movie. The second was good but it’s a high 6/10 because of it abruptly ending. Sorry for my hateful/critical side taking over my thoughts 😂 I get so angry with Hollywood a lot it clouds my mind sometimes.

You know I never noticed that Spiderman 2 is actuality a deconstruction until you pointed that out. I think Ruin Johnson has completely poisoned that term with his dogshit pretentious filmmaking with all the idiots copying him. A deconstruction isnt an excuse to shit on a genre or characters, it should ask questions and challenege the viewer in a taseteful way

Tom Holland is overrated. No disrespect to him as a person, but his version I don’t like. I’d rather another person play Peter Parker in a 4th reboot than have a fourth film starring him. No offense but it’s my personal opinion. Tobey and Andrew are superior interpretations.
