This video examines the nerve cell and the creation of an action potential. It considers the movement of ions across the nerve cell membrane. It discusses resting membrane potential, depolarization and repolarization.
I am not one to comment on youtube. Maybe a couple times in the last 7 or 8 years. These videos have saved my ass! These have been the most helpful videos I have come across by far. Great examples and constant reinforcement of ideas really make everything stick. Thank you so much.
I've heard so many teachers explain this, read so many books and watched so many videos but never really understood this until now. Many thanks for taking the time to make it!
Mr. Cinti, Thank you for taking the time to make your videos. they are very detailed and the narrative you provide is excellent. Some of the best I have seen. I am in a doctoral program and you take it to the level that I need and explain it well. I like the fact that you explain things in different ways. Sometimes I just do not understand something explained in just one manner. You makes sense of the subject material. Also I appreciate that you take the time to sum up and review what you just taught. You actually make the material more understandable by doing this.
Once again, brilliant teaching technique. This is one of the most difficult subjects to get students to grasp, and you explain it in such a way that an 11 year old could grasp it. Very well done. You and Professor Fink should go on tour and hold seminars to teach instructors how to actually teach. lol.
I am glad you posted this video and elaborated on how the dendrite signals travel down the axon to another dendrite. College professors tend to isolate this by only demonstrating the axon traveling to the dendrite; this is why it gets confusing. Even textbooks illustrate the pathway as such, therefore, as a student, one fails to link that significant piece.
Just wanted to take the time to say thank you so much for posting this video. I am currently learning about action potential in my neuro class and I was having a hard time understanding it. This video provided me with the visual breakdown that I needed. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you :)
This is probably the best video for actually understanding what an action potential is for the chemistry noobs like me who have no concept of charges and ions. Not to mention it's also the clearest explanation of the process of sending a signal down a neuron. Thank you!
Thank you for making this video. I've been watching countless youtube videos on action potential and neural tissue in general and nobody even comes close to being as easy to understand as you. I love how you cover material, then jump back to sections you went over previously in the video. It makes it super easy to remember. Thanks a million!
Thank you so much for this video Mr Cinti, i understand Action potential now and i am going to spend 40 minutes every single day to watch this. Thank you
I wish you where my BIO 201 Instructor! This has helped me so much for my Friday Exam. Thank you so much for your time making these videos to help students like myself.
This is just so beautifully explained, it all makes perfect sense now. By far the best video explaining this concept on RU-vid. Thank you so much for this; I'm off to Ace my graduate exam on this topic now!
Very Clear. Thank you for repeating yourself multiple times. It really really helps when you repeat the concept over and over and keep adding on more details. Thank you!
BEST VIDEO OF THIS ON RU-vid! I've looked through at least 10 videos and NONE of them explain the process from start to finish, especially regarding how Na+ enters the dendrite in the first place. The diagrams, drawings, etc. all helped so much. I only needed about 7 minutes of this video for what I was stuck on but ended up watching the whole thing. Very gifted instructor, communication style is flawless, I don't know where this guy is working but get him a promotion asap.
thank you thank you thank you....i had so much difficulty understanding action potential....after reading my physio book and listening to my professors lectures...i just couldnt grasp the concept...you did a fine job explaining it to me...
Thank you! Broke it down very neatly and simplistically, and I really enjoyed your attitude towards the material. I feel like it rubs off and makes it much more interesting to learn
thanks for this.. So loud and clear.. I mean.. so detailed. Helps me understand more. I have been trying to explain to my students about how can an organochlorine insecticide affects the nervous system, by blocking the calcium channel.
Thank You for putting everything together for us. It all is starting to make sense. My a&p class is too rushed so it makes it hard to understand the subject.
Sir..i like the way you explain and you really care about being understood..Your diction is great and that is why i got your explaination..Youre a great teacher!!! Im Eli from Philippines.
I appreciate it so much, your animations are very helpful. After this video, i must be a fan of animation like you ( lol). I have read many books but until now, i can say that the key of neuron transmission is not an problem with me any more. Thanks so much, i am hopeful that you will give more and more clear lecture like this.
