the best part of the Addams Family is how everyone thinks they are evil but they really are the nicest and most welcoming family to everyone - even if their idea of welcoming involves blowing you up they never do so out of malice.
Plus chances are if you told em you didn't like being blown up they probably wouldn't do it. Thats kind of the funny thing; no one ever TELLS them they arent into spooky stuff or near fatal playthings. They just kind of do that because they want people to feel welcome. Outside of the kids being slightly mischievous, I sincerely doubt they would go out of their way to hurt/scare you for no reason.
The funny thing is the Addam’s are actually supposed to be like a twisted version of an old money blue blood family so their traditions as it were aren’t weird but everyone else’s are. Compare them to their counterparts, the Munsters who are more like immigrants. People with strange cultural traditions coming to America for their slice of the American dream and trying to fit in.
In the 1960's, psychiatrists actually praised the show for having such a well adjusted family & loving couple, & they actually called it, quote, "The healthiest show on television."
Never forget, it was a controversy that Gomez and Morticia: - Shared a bed, while most sitcom couples shared rooms but had their own beds - Kissed onscreen - Actually acted like they liked each other and were passionate Possibly the most wholesome TV couple ever, the Addams parents.
@@jonevarty2205 The live action Addams Family series was edgy and controversial at the time because the main couple acted like a couple instead of acting like roommates or a single parent and an extra child that happened to be played by an adult.
@@RoninCatholic Wow, that had gotta be the dumbest reason for a show to be controversial. Next thing they might have said was that Jimmy Neutron is offensive because its making fun of kids with big heads
@@jonevarty2205 Point is, back in the 1960's, Gomez & Morticia were the first couple to have an overt sensual relationship. Also, they (along with competing "sister" series _The Munsters_ Frankenstein's Monster X Dracula's daughter couple of Herman & Lilly) were the first live-action couple to imply sharing a bed, rather than sleeping in separate quarters like most other sitcom parents tended to do at the time.
@@jonevarty2205 You have to remember the culture was nowhere near as sexual as we're used to, and it was controversial because the two were actors, not an actual couple. They would argue that putting two actors in the same bed, and having them kiss would encourage unfaithfulness in their real marriages/relationships. A lot would even argue that doing it at all for the show would be no better than doing it in any other context. Movies had a bit of kissing, but during the Hays Code they banned excessive kissing because they felt like it would be demoralizing to the audience. Three second maximum, and the mouths weren't open. This is why you would see couples in the same bed if it was for a cartoon, but live action was a different story.
I think the Normanmyers are the ones people dont want. Their whole religion i lingerie and boxers for goodness sake. Their son is the only normal of them XD
I love the irony that the next door neighbors always hated the Addams for their weirdness, but they themselves were obsessed with underwear. So who are the real weirdos?
If the neighbors don't like the adams family lifestyle, why can't they just move to somewhere else? They can go police their new neighbors on how to live their lives.
Kangaroo Funo. I think you meant to say that the Normanmeyers (excluding their son) can't go forcing the Addams how to live their lives and make them normal like them right? And I completely agree with you👍☺
I don't know, she seemed rather happy in the original series. It was Christina Ricci's interpretation of the character that leaned more towards the darkly humorous sombre
*+ParisWithAMustache* I guess my enjoyment of the Addams Family can be measured by how happy Wednesday smiles in it. Can you tell how much i liked the liveaction movie? (Trick question. I didnt)
Saw your comment and checked something...no crossover fanfics of any kind between the two. Man...an Addams Family & Beetlejuice crossover would be a an absolute gold mine and fun time to watch.
True that! Cartoon network was best those days.. Swat Kats, Jhonny Quest, Captain Planet, TMNT, Centurions, Flintstones, Jetsons.. so many many more.. great childhood times man! My best theme was the Addams Family and Jhonny Quest .. they were the best!
Yep. I actually wasn't even born when the cartoon first aired but thanks to the reruns Cartoon Network did I was able to enjoy all the classics and still be able to grow up while watching them.
Yeah earlier Addams stuff like the live action show had Wednesday showcase more emotions. It’s the 90s movies that gave her the cold unfeeling personality we usually get now.
This interpretation is closer to Lisa Loring's Wedensday from the original series. Btw, it was the 60's series that gave the characters their names. They didn't even have names in the original cartoon panels.
Actually Debbie Drewberry lifted aspects from both Lisa Loring ('64 sitcom) & Christina Ricci ('91-'92 feature films) to voice the 2nd incarnation of Wednesday in animated form following Cindy Henderson's sugary portrayal of her in the _New Scooby-Doo Movies_ crossover with Mystery Inc. & the first animated series starring the macabre clan in '73 - both of which saw everyone's favorite "child full of woe" instead being rather demure & sweat (kinder than even 6-year-old Lisa even from the original satirical sitcom) whilst wearing a pink variant of her traditionally dark blue or midnight black collared dress frock in a stark contrast to her other depictions - as Debbie (no tie-in to Joan Cusack's Black Widow from the '92 movie) voiced Wednesday as the more level-headed of the 2 children (as Nicole Fulgure said during her portrayal for the "New" '98 sitcom remake spawned from _Addams Family Reunion_ as a direct-to-video TV movie pilot with no correlation to the earlier, big budget films from Orion/Paramount, "There were 3 of us", in reference to Pubert, "But Pugsly ATE the little one") using Lisa's niceities coupled with Christina's "playfulness".
Jfm Meyers Excuse me, but both The Addams Family AND The Munsters are classics. Besides, they ONLY air in October - the month of Halloween - these days.
I've downloaded the whole Addams Family Animated Series a few days ago. Tons of memories! It was one of my favourite cartoon series on Cartoon Network.
By far the best "animated" version of the Adams Family by a long shot. The style, using the original song theme song turned up a notch, and the designs were beautiful. Even Gomez's kinda odd pink outfit which "almost" makes me look more normal is still eccentric screaming and might've been a purposeful nod to the pink usage of the set of the live-action black and white show. After this I'd say the two live action films "Adams Family+Values" were the best live-action versions.
@@af8808 congratulations, your a grammar Nahzi nobody likes or cares about. Take the theme song here and change it especially for you to "every party needs a pooper that's why they invited you, party pooper, party pooper!"
@@kaguyashinomiya3435 Honestly, that shouldn't be too weird a thing. Before the 90s movies, she was just a normal kid that was a bit macabre. Capable of smiling and laughing. After the movies it became her de facto personality that she was every goth girl you ever knew dialed up to 11, to the point the idea she can smile seems almost impossible. All while Pugsly would continue to lose more and more presence to the point of being just as much a background Addams as Grandmama. That bad cartoon movie at least tried to do something with Pugsly, I guess.
I feel like you are having a bit of grammar issues in your sentences. I don't mean to be rude about it, I'm just saying that part of your sentence seems that like it could have been worded differently because it feels weird saying it out loud
@@Jack-Eugen I really do agree With you, but the sad truth about this industry these days is that that kind of style just doesn't sell well with kids anymore, plus it was just the easier way to make things back then
Vlad Sicoe when I was a kid I loved The Addams Family cartoon from the 90's because i think its the counterpart to the 60's sitcom during the awake to the successful The Addams Family movie with Christina Ricci
They're not judgemental, they're friendly to just about everyone they meet, are boundlessly enthusiastic about life and always eager to welcome visitors. You get past the oddities and they would make great neighbours.
@@JamesTobiasStewartWhich is what’s great about them! They have those oddities, sure, but it adds charm to the Addams Family for sure as well as how they are open and hospitable!
Richeetah hmm not here in india. It aired on cartoon network alone when i was a kid. damn. too many memories. i remember watching these shows. shit i feel sick to my stomach. nostalgia is not always a good feeling. infact it never is.
They're creepy and they're kooky, Mysterious and spooky, They're all together ooky, The Addams Family. Their house is a museum Where people come to see 'em They really are a scream The Addams Family. (Neat) (Sweet) (Petite) So get a witches shawl on A broomstick you can crawl on We're gonna pay a call on The Addams Family.

Two "snaps" up, as it were. As someone who can trace their family history back to the name Addams (my grandmother [my mom's mother] had it for her last name before marrying my grandfather), one feels proud to somewhat be linked to such an iconic franchise, even if it is loosely. Wednesday, naturally, would be my favorite, followed by Gomez and Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma Frump-Addams, Pugsley, Lurch, and Cousin Itt.
I wanted to watch this as a kid but my parents that time didn’t like this because it was “too old” of a cartoon but somehow they’re alright with Tom & Jerry…Man I SO missed out!
You may not know it, but Gomez is not a first name, it is a surname of Spanish origin as common as Smith in English, in Latin America he was known as Homero Adams, and by the way the dubbing they did was excellent, I think better than the original because the Spanish dubbing used a lot of double meaning.
Yes John Astin did. That is why this is the only version besides the 1960s tv series that i will watch because it has the original Gomez on it blowing up trains
this was always my favourite version of this series. of course this was the only one i grew up with, but after seeing the other versions, i preferred this one still, not just for nostalgic reasons, but mainly for how this one was done in general
The moment where this video touches my inner child is when Gomez appears riding on his train. I just love how excited the kid gets when he sees him and hops aboard the caboose with Wednesday and Pugsley. My reaction as a kid would very much be the same. Plus I did love trains growing up, especially with horror added in the mix.
Gomez never lost his inner child! ^^ No wonder the neighbor's kid likes hanging around their place. Welcoming, accepting, not afraid to be offbeat and strange family, fully embracing their interests.
I remember watching The Addams Family back in 1992 when I was a kid, it was funny and hilarious. I'm happy that it's still show on RU-vid and Watch Cartoon online so why haven't they released the show onto DVD yet just like the original Addams Family cartoon from the 60's. Because it deserved a comeback after 28 years and would made me happy to watch the whole Addams Family episodes from the 90s.
Man, this was an awesome adaptation :) Had a great cast too; Rip Taylor, Carol Channing, Debi Derryberry, Rob Paulsen, Edie McClurg, Richard "Dick" Beals, and John Astin reprising his role as Gomez Addams :D
This show was literally my childhood, and as another Halloween passes by, Another Year we're here like always. Happy Halloween! Been years that I've been listening to this! Hope you enjoy it too the fullest~ 🎃🎃🎃
This tune reminded me of my childhood in the late 90s and early 2000s. I remember watching these cartoons on the channel cartoon network after coming back to home from my kindergarten. Miss those days.
My mom banned me from watching the show as a child because of its weirdness. So, what I would do is record the episode and wait for her to go to work at night so I can show it when she's gone.🤣🤣
I didn’t appreciate this enough as a kid but animation is absolutely gorgeous. You can almost see the each individual frame and how well it’s put together. Just take a closer look at thing in the beginning and you’ll see what I mean
The neighbors' son was one of my favorite characters back then. He was forced to hate the Addams family, yet he loved every second of their eccentric nature.
used to love this as a kid, and when a family member send me the intro song it made me cry cus i felt like someone was paying attention to me to what i liked
So many memories of this great cartoon, along with the film, and reruns of the original 60s show. This was the most fun since John Aston reprised his role as Gomez, but man this show got me in trouble with my parents. I loved trains, but getting my first electric train as a kid, I couldn't help but do it Gomez style.
i love the addams family, to those who don't know or fail to understand them the addamses might look as weird or downright creepy but they're quite harmless, they're a tightknit family and one of the best examples of a good functional family, they love and support each other and in a tough spot an addams will always stick out for an addams or a close friend
I used to love this show and find it ironic that the underwear, obsessed family next-door always complained about the Addams family being weird when they were the weird ones.
I miss that old boomerang logo, I also remember seeing it from an episode of Dexter’s Laboratory from when I was in a restaurant in New York in July 2013.
I never liked this show and theme song when it showed on cartoon network. But after watching it after twenty years, I realise how beautiful were those days.
This brings back so many memories of Saturday mornings in the 90s. Back when this aired on ABC back in 1992. The days when Cartoons ruled the TVs from 730 till 1130. The toy commercials and cereal ads and the Anti drug PSA commercials and bumpers for the next cartoons.
This year 2016 marks the 25th anniversary of Paramount Picture's THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991) and I wonder if this cartoon series will be available soon to come on DVD as a complete series.
Ii makes me cry today.. It took me 8 yr to find this cartoon. I used to watch it when I came to home from school in 2001,when I was in 1 st standard. I can't express that how my memories become fresh when I watched it today. I can feel every moment that I had when I watched this cartoons on my TV in school uniform. thanks a lot
I remembered watching this when I was little. I totally forgot about this show and the theme song. It has been like 14 or 15 years since I watched this show and listened to the theme song. One of the best Cartoon series in TV history :)
I missed this show. Used to get scared because of its spooky theme but still a good family show. Morticia's my favourite character cuz she's pretty lol
this is how i knew them. this always appeared on Cartoon Network and the pretty new at the time (now kind of dead) Boomerang. actually, a lot of shows i watched either appeared on either shows. now look at CN And "Boomerang", not that many older shows from beyond the 2000's. so sad~
