The whole “the only way is (probably) to get the wearer to remove the magical item themself” reminds me a bunch of the whole “Trixie and the Alicorn Amulet” thing from mlp, with said magical item corrupting the user and, of course, the only solution being that Trixie had to remove the amulet herself. Etc etc etc Just the nostalgia of being reminded of the early days of the show made me feel all warm and fuzzy...

So to recap, a glove that can reduce a town to glass and kills the wearer, warrants the warning "he could destroy the entire world!"?... Not an overreaction at all, nope, not like it was super fucking anti-climactic or anything. I say this as someone who's also played this setting, just fucking underwhelming considering her warning.

You know how in lord of the rings the One Ring that Rules Them All, when worn by a small dipshit hobbit, just makes it immortal, invisible, and kind of weird? You are best off thinking along those lines. Later on, further *KKKKXSHSSSSHHH* are found. One of them, in the hands of someone who -kind of- knows what he's doing, threatens to simultaneously destroy the world AND unmake the boundaries between life and death! The Raven Queen is not pumped about this!

Yeah no I get that, my group is currently at the Crystal quest in the labs, it's just the way it's described seems to be only the glove when she's all "it could destroy the world!" and we never see that level of power.

but the point is that it "Could" in general, right, not that it necessarily was going to. and it was kind of a necessary statement, as that's sort of information that anyone facing the glove would like to posses, yeah? the extent of its powers? making it a logical statement in general to make.

Seriously, it's the Evocation artifact. If the McElboyz were slightly more up on D&D tropes, I'd call Gundren's fate a reference to one of the oldies of the genre: level seven is where wizards go to die. Fireball is a very powerful spell when you get it! It does a ton of damage! In a deceptively large AOE! Large enough that if your DM is not the forgiving type, odds are the first time you cast it you and the rest of the party are in the blast radius! And everybody in the blast radius with less than the fighter's HP pool dies!
