the only milk at Canadian Standards is Canadian milk, Every dairy farmer in North America takes pride in their operation, but only when you purchase Canadian milk do you SUPPORT CANADIAN DAIRY FARMERS. When my family and I ran our retail Grocery Store in Saskatchewan from 1962 to 1988 it was always with pride that we sold a good clean wholesome product and we purchased from the Saskatchewan Dairy. We supported local Dairy farms and Farmers in that way. I hear milk and other dairy products imports are cheaper but in my opinion the Quality and Safety and SUPPLY are much better in Canada where the milk is free of contaminants/chemicals/poisons when Compared to Imports. BUY CANADIAN/SUPPORT OUR FARMERS and keep our families safe/healthy

I've been watching your videos for a while now. While I need low prices as I am disabled. I see the blood, sweat and tears. The energy and love your family puts into making milk. You truly do not get the worth for what you put in. I worked on a small dairy in my youth. I drank milk right from the bulk tank. I can say with absolute conviction, there is no comparison to what we get from the store. It is creamier, sweeter and way yummier.

@@handiman5001 Think of a disabled person as a car with one flat tire. Theoretically you can move, you can get around but your not going to function like a car with 4 fully inflated tires. Being disabled means my income is extremely limited. It does mean I can't afford safer better quality products because they will typically be far too expensive to fit into my budget.
@handiman5001
@handiman5001 Год назад
@@ygrittesnow1701 I am sorry you are disabled much like so many others including myself, (who used to function like a 4 x4 but now even my 2 wheel drive is sketchy -- 2 canes/a walker/a wheelchair and have to use Oxygen) the difference in the price can be made up by saving in or on other items, milk products contain many items required for better than average health and I would rather skimp on something like canned items substituting smaller sizes or cutting down on prepared meals but injesting Chemicals I don't have to is not in my book -- I learned my lessons years ago Do not skimp on veggies, milk products, meat, everything else can be juggled
@ygrittesnow1701
@ygrittesnow1701 Год назад
@@handiman5001 Unfortunately it is difficult to purchase raw milk. In my area we are relegated to buying what is available in the stores. I do buy milk and I try to eat fresh veggies as much as I can. Things that can't be juggled are rent, utilities(which can skyrocket during heating and cooling times). I am still in the process of applying for disability. So for the time being I am dependent on a friend who has graciously been helping me while I wait.

So much work. It makes me appreciate milk, butter and cheese even more. I amso impressed with all the hygiene procedures. How old were you when you learned the procedures for milking cows? How many people are doing the milking? Are different people on early and late shifts? I remember one Christmas when the whole family got flu. It must be a problem if several people are sick at the same time. What about the calves getting used to antibiotics? Are you worried about the creation of superbugs? What sort of camera are you using? I worked for a company which made refrigerated bulk milk tanks when I was a student, 51 years ago.

@MellowYe77ow
@MellowYe77ow Год назад
Milk comes out of the cow at body temperature. (Which is over 100° F, or 38° C) They have a cooler at the end of the line, which cools the milk before it enters the milk tank. The milk tank is also refrigerated, to cool the milk further, and maintain it's temperature at around 34° F, or 1° C, until it's picked up, and taken to the milk plant.

@timothymbonham4453
@timothymbonham4453 Год назад
The important sanitary part is the teats, which they attend to already. But some of the robotic milkers also wash the udder area when connecting (as well as taking the cows' temperature as a health check). But washing the whole cow -- then they would have to stand there and air-dry in a barn that is kept just barely above freezing -- that would be rather hard on the cows, and they would have to eat more feed to try to keep warm. Not a good idea, I'd say.

@MellowYe77ow
@MellowYe77ow Год назад
1. Their young stock are kept outside in their feedlot corrals (Which can be seen in other videos) from about 6 months old, until around 3 weeks before they have their first calf. (When they're about 2 years old) They are then moved into their special needs barn, where they have their calf. The cows are then kept in the barn with the milk herd for their 305 day lactation cycle. They are then "dried off" which means they are fed a less energy intensive diet, so that they produce very little milk. That way, they have a break for 2 months before having their next calf. Once dried off, they are sent back to the corrals for about 5 weeks. Then, they're brought back into the special needs pen to have their next calf, and the cycle continues. 2. I haven't heard any concerns about lightening, and I've been following the channel for over 6 months. (and have watched a lot of Jan's older videos) 3. Some cows will try, (As it's first come, first served) other's don't care. Some try to stay with the same group, no matter where they're laying. Just like humans, cows have their own personalities.
