Ok, so I looked up the Dutch eating their prime minister thing. It’s sort of true. It was back in the 1600’s. The prime minister was almost assassinated, but their enemies weren’t satisfied with that, so they arrested the prime minister’s brother on trumped up charges of treason. They tortured him for a confession (as was the law back then, you couldn’t convict without one) and when they didn’t confess, they sentenced him to exile. The prime minister went to the jail which was only a few steps from his house to see his brother off, but a mob was there along with a militia. The militia shot them and then left them to the mob. The mob mutilated their bodies, then strung them up naked while the mob roasted and ate their livers in a frenzy. Surprisingly, witnesses described the mob as “disciplined” which lead to doubt about the spontaneity of the event…
