It is say (said) you must leave a large part of you there, so you can take a larger part of you away. Large part? - sense of identity - sense of self - who you think you are in the most grandiose way [- your ego] - what you thought you knew about the world and what's in and and around it - how much you're capable of doing/becoming - what you've been told that you've given your beliefs to unwittingly - everything that makes you you and others them - whatever he just threw (lol)
I love how it was a challenge for him he was a coach who thought he choild do it on his own, and then it took the pride from him in the cold rain and falls trips amd falls you want to face it alone now do it it no one to help you along the way. And then when he gets to the top he realizes it was his team that helped him so he had to let go of what he was selfish about and gain to work as a team and know his team got his back
