@@stevelee8027 And me !! We were so blessed , the time went like the blink of an eye! But hey...we are survivors , and all the better for our good fortune when we were young!! 😊😁👍🤫
Saw a guy recently with an Alarm tshirt. I yelled nice shirt! He says, you like The Alarm? I said yeah, the original version! He looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about!
Couldn’t agree more. A friend and I walked up Ben Nevis with Mike and his wife Jules,as part of the Ben Nevis Rocks cancer charity that Mike set up,and they are 2 of the nicest, most down to earth people you could ever meet.Mike standing with the acoustic guitar, outside the visitor centre,at 5 o’clock in the morning, singing ‘We Are The Light’just as the mountain was starting to appear out of the darkness in the background, was an experience I will remember for the rest of my life🥲
Remember hearing this song for the first time in the Winter of 1988-89 on a Thursday afternoon High School ski trip to Greek Peak in Central New York. I was listening to this on my Sony Walkman. I remember it was a great time that day skiing after a storm brought great snow. To top it off my Dad had a Pizza waiting for me when i got home that night. Good times!
MASTER But how well are they known today Masterrudy? When was the last time you heard one of their songs on the radio? It's been a long time since I heard any of their songs on radio or music choice and that's what I was getting at!
I've been watching 80s videos for the last hour and this one did it for me, I couldn't take the nostalgia anymore and had to wipe away a few tears. If I had a time machine I would go back to live the rest of my days in the 80s.
we have chance to go 80s back. We know who created everyone and every decade's lives. Just trust your creator , believe Him, go on his road until the end of your life and voila! 80s is back for you to live in Heaven forever.
I have just spent the last 2 hours Head Phones on Listening to some epic 70's n 80's monsters....replayed this and The Cult She Sells Sanctuary till my Brain is numb. Get me a Time Machine back to these beautiful days from my past. Todays music will never stir the emotions like these.
Only 450,000 views? Are you serious? Man I work in a federal building with the IRS down the hall. I had this shit on blast today so the whole floor could hear. No one said a thing! Ironic it was raining today in Albuqueruqe, NM in a downpour!!!!
@@e.talbot9675 My friend you are right. I was in college when they were "big" here in the states, unfortunately they never got the credit they deserved...
underrated but one of the greatest fan bases of rock history , I would say especially for Mike that The Alarm is certainly one of the most successful bands ever
5th grade school year and I forgot all about it! That's when getting old is a bummer. Thankfully I have a son about the same age I was back then to remind me of growing up in the 80s and the great times by the boom box. This song was totally unique to anything going on at that time. Permanently added back to my library. 😎
Great band and fantastic memories of a decade that I had the pleasure of growing up in. My son always asks me "Dad were the 80s really that good ?" So I took him to see his first concert Tears For Fears when he was 13 16years ago and he still talks about it .. He's 29 now and says he grew up in the wrong music era ...
I have been listening to this song (on my CD of The Alarm with song) for many years and just discovered that there is an official music video. Yes, I still listen to CDs, have many of them.
"And then I run 'til the breath tears my throat 'Til the pain hits my side As if I run fast enough I can leave all the pain and the sadness behind " Seriously, nobody writes lyrics like this anymore.
One of the greatest bridges EVER! So right, intelligent writing. Now all we have is "ooh baby, yea yea yea MOt&^%rf*&^er". Where has all the artistry gone?
This song is gorgeous. I get it. Kind of U2ish, which The Alarm were competing with in this very short period. I give serious credit to them. Bravo, boys 💚
2:57 love how U2 used this riff in their music later. The Alarm, I was 16 in 1985 when I first heard them. Didnt care for the music, I was into Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath. Fast forward over 30 years to 6 months ago and I listen to The Alarm everyday in my car on a USB stick, everyday I play THIS song after a hard friggin day at work.
I played a soccer game in high school and listened to this before. It rained, with fog and we were big under dogs. We won that game and I can remember every play when I hear this song 30 years later. Time is a hypocritical friend.
Finally saw Mike Peters + The Alarm in September of '16. It only took me 35 years, but totally worth the wait. Mike joked that this was a "new" song...from 1987. He sounds great, such a positive energy and spirit. Glad to be a fan as I took my 21 year old son along - the circle continues.
Great song ...period. No matter what the record labels intent, The Alarm had their own identity, easily distinguished from U2 , or Big Country. Definitely more blue collar.
I woke up this morning with this song in my head. I didn't know who sang it. I was thinking Big Country but typed in "Rain In The Summertime" and came up with this. I totally forgot about The Alarm. What a great song!
Choone. A few years ago I woke up about 4am with Robert Palmer 'Johnny and Mary' in my braincase. I ended up having to get up and play it several times.
Under the anvil of the sun Sweat, like a train I come, I come My body to dust Scorched by the might of the sun Burning light, burning white heat Like wildfire I sweat a fever My body screams Disintegrates in the heat Our love is the FAITH that keeps on burning I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME I love to feel the rain on my face I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME I love to feel the rain on my face Burnt at the stake, on a bed of fire My body rises Taking me higher My loves desire Is pure ascension fire And love is the FAITH that keeps on burning I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME I love to feel the rain on my face I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME I love to feel the rain on my face And then I run 'til the breath tears my throat 'Til the pain hits my side As if I run fast enough I can leave all the pain and the sadness behind I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME I love to feel the rain on my face I love to feel the RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME I love to feel the rain on my face (I love to feel the rain on my face) (In the summertime)
Thanks for posting the lyrics, I love when people do that, so can sing along or read it along while playing the song the only way to boost it to the top is with likes so, here's mine
Was umpiring a baseball tournament a couple years and it started to rain. I went in the press box and started playing this song over the speakers. The parents were going nuts !!!!! A few of them had said they had forgotten the song or it reminded them of their college days. The rain eventually stopped by they kept playing it in the press box between innings anyway.
Just met this band today in a tiny diner in Dickson, Tennessee. They stopped to eat and are on their way to Memphis. I talked to the singer. He seemed pretty cool.
Ironic that I put this song on my bluetooth speaker today on blast. It then started raining in Albuquerque, NM. Think we got about an inch of rain - I haven't seen that in two years.
It was the late 80s and my 2 favorite bands were U2 and The Alarm. I dragged my GF, who became my wife, and a bunch of friends to see these guys at Hammerjacks in Baltimore, MD on the end of the Electric Folklore tour... Hammerjacks is lone gone, right next to M&T Stadium today... absolutely incredible show... and then a few months later my buddy said they had broken up on stage. I was gutted, but it's so awesome that we still have their music and can relive the past!!! These guys could have been absolutely huge, in a way they were!!!
Bono cannot even approach the creativity and overall talent that the blessed Mike Peters possesses in tonnage. U2 were commercial cuties before they even realized that they were phony sellouts only interested in top 40 ditty’s. Since the savage, severe strength of “DECLARATION “, when I first noticed and started listening to their music, The Alarm are known only to folks who truly appreciate incredible songwriting, brilliant musicians who played to the hearts of those who really knew the importance of tremendous lyrical composition that stood for truth, faith, and the correct way of living through this depraved world of ours. May GOD Bless Mike Peters and the rest of the Chaps…
My daughter's name is Summer Rain because of this song!!!!!!!!! She is 16 now in August. Her name she goes by is Rain. This song is my baby's legacy! 💜💜💜
@@kyachdistent1301 some couple have probably called their kid Chelsea after jetting jiggy on a Bus to Chelsea .... dosent mean they are gonna call them Chelsea 211 Bus or think that people might think they named her after an Elvis Costello song
I remember this song as well as The Stand. But I mainly remember this band for the fact the lead singer quit the band while onstage in 1991. This band always brings a bittersweet feeling to me whenever I think about them.:..
...Hermoso tema.. Me da una sensación de libertad inexplicable... No me canso de oírlo... Grande The Alarm... Cada vez que lo escucho me siento increíblemente LIBRE... Y me dan ganas de aprovechar al máximo mi vida...
Saw Mike Peters, solo and acoustic, last week. Looks and sounds great. When he did this song it gave me frickin chills. He's a great performer and story teller.
Dave Sharp really shines on this excellent song! all the best bands seem to have phenomenal lead guitarists, his guitar style seems to be improvised, making it really unique!
I saw them when they came over to Toronto directly from Wales, in a little dive called "Larry's Hideaway". I was entranced by them. They all stood at the front of the stage in unison and had such a presence!!!!
Love this song. I had got my best friend hooked on U2 and he got me hooked on the this band, way before this song. Years later we found out that Bono/U2 had been influenced by the The Alarm's style for Joshua Tree.
So glad to see this comment, I’m a huge U2 fan and didn’t know about this. I’ve not heard this in years and it’s put me in mind of U2, glad it makes sense.
I tried to fine the interviews with Mike Peters and Bono. And cannot find them on RU-vid. The Alarm had toured with U2 on the War or Unforgettable Fire. So, the sound of the Alarm was familiar. They are still friends to this day is my understanding.
