Born 76.... so glad I got to grow up in the 80s. No mobile phones, No internet, just go ride your BMX n be home when the street lights turn on. Sundays we all watched Young talent time...... Aussie's get me :)
I’m 55 years old and remember playing this song on the radio! I was a radio broadcaster back in the 1980’s. This song brings back many great memories. Music like this only comes once in a lifetime! Man, I miss the 80s. 😅❤
We were SO MUCH lucky to live this time man, sometimes I wonder what will people do in the future, but us, us were SO LUCKY we had the best moments, and yes I miss a lot the 80s a lot less problems or at least less superficial problems and lot more emotion, love and creativity, now everything seems to be so "plastic" (and is not fantastic) well...sorry for the "catharsis"
im only 14 and have grown up in the the current generation, and it sucks. The music is bad and always has to be talking about the N-word or something about sex. But i have always loved 80s and 90s music, it just makes me happy to listen to something better then now.
My husband and I danced to this on our first date June 1988. 33 Years later, and we're still madly in love, and going strong . He's also still a bit Crazy 😉. The 80's were such a special time.
Honestly, I was just listening to Electric blue, because I love that song and this came up as a suggestion. I thought, yes, let’s give crazy a go. And I had forgotten all about this amazing song❤
One of the best things about almost 50 years old is the fact that I lived my teenage in the 80s, growing up with music like this which will impress me for the rest of my life. As long as the generations of the 80s are still alive this music will never die. So, let's live forever!!!!!
Shelly Rae YES IT DOES 😀 Other songs...As soon as forever is through Toto Head over heels, Sowing the seeds of love and Woman in chains Tears for Fears Only the young Journey.... I could go on and on😄
This is my wife's and my song. We had the lyrics printed on a wall hanging which adorns the wall in our living room. 19 years and counting.😆 You Gotta Be Crazy Baby!!
I remember back in the 80's while building a cabin on a river in a remote area of Oklahoma where radio reception was very poor. Me being a country music fan back then and not being able to dial a country station in out there in the backwoods, I tuned it in to a hi power FM rock station and this song had just started. Whew let me tell you, I was hooked from that point and have followed this most excellent group ever since. Davies is a genius and his talents have held up well through the years. This group doesn't dissapoint.
So good that the national museum australia opened a new wing after the song title ‘ great southern land ‘ and Ivor Davies was invited on opening night to perform selected hits
2024 and this song is as good as it was the day it came out. And the live concerts are just awesome. Going to another one this year. Fan for 44 years and counting...
Amazing singer. Underappreciated band in the states. The 1980's had music for every taste. Unlikely there will ever be another decade this rich in music. It was a great time to be in your 20s.
I finished school in the 80s, found a good job, met a nice woman that is still my wife today, and most of all listed to the best music ever.!! Wish I could do it all over again. Most of all, I wanna thank my parents for giving me the 80s.! Chears
This reminds me of my girlfriend and I in the 80's when we starting hanging out together in high school, she's my wife now for 30 years and I still play this song for her because she's got to be crazy to be with me......
I'm married to my high school boyfriend too, we met in 1987! This song also reminds me of that amazing, carefree time...fantastic that you married your hs sweetheart, too. Cheers
❤I am 68 and I was fortunate enough to get to be in the 70, and 80. The music in this era was so fantastic. I enjoyed Disco and the hair band era. I absolutely love this song it takes me back to a time in my life that was fun and the music was at it's finest. I really want to go back and relive that time 😂😢
I just turned 60, and icehouse takes me back to my confusing, what's going on luv songs, in my life...but also impowered me as a young teenager..thanks guys still luv your music to this day
Born in '75 in Los Angeles. So grateful that KROQ fm played Icehouse. Back when radio meant something. Not just a corporate bleh conglomerate. Actual programme directors and DJs choosing music. Again, I'm grateful or else I wouldn't have heard bands from Australia like Icehouse or many of the groups from the UK and elsewhere.
57 here. WIMZ in Knoxville was playing this song in 87'. Surprised me because they were going classic rock which they are now. And i thought it was more Top 40 80's rock. Loved it since the first time I heard it back then. I was going through a, "growing up" period at 23 back then and starting college after a relationship. "I gotta pocket full of holes, head in the clouds, the king of fools" kind of hit me as a person in those days.
This is one kick ass band as we say in America lol. This is a real band the real deal ! They sing about real life no bs and very creative and their sound is one of a kind there’s nothing out there today like ice house! And Iva is an excellent songwriter the best out there ! Thank you ice house for awesome music and making a big difference in my life ! Your one of my top music influences. 🌹🌹🌹💕💕💕💕
This takes me right back to being a 15 year old freshman in HS in 1987, having the best time of my life scoring goals for our soccer team, drinking with friends in the park on weekends and falling in love every other week thanks to songs like this. Only in the 80s. Ya had to be there to know it.
Every one into the hotub after consuming lots of weed and beer...just keep your heads above water and crank up Crue on the walkmans!!!! That's a realistic time machine. 😃🤔😅😎
Grew up I’m Argentina in the 80’s..love this band and song and brings so many memories….Best time ever. Thanks Icehouse for being part of our lives forever
I had totally forgotten about Icehouse. I guess it's only been 30 years! 30, 40, or 50 as it may come to be...a real nice 80's moment for a middle aged guy who misses the good ol' days from time to time...
As an Aussie, I only saw this version 2 days ago. This video is way better than the Australian video. And oh my Iva is gorgeous!! I realised that I'm not dead inside yet seeing this.
Icehouse, INXS, Pseudo Echo, Midnight Oil, AC/DC... Australia has a lot to be proud of in the world music scene - I'm a metalhead usually - but this is one helluva good song. From here in the States, 09.07.2022 - we're about to sack our nitwits that broke the world and then start having fun again. Fly the Southern Cross high and proud, Aussies!
@@flyingdutchman4794 I saw Icehouse for the second time in February this year. last time I was 23 in 1984 when I saw them. They were brilliant in February and it made me feel young again. Great sold out show! So glad you love our music, I grew up in Melbourne and it was an amazing time in the 70’s and 80’s for great live music every weekend. We were so lucky!
I'm from Europe but had a couple of years in Australia back in the day. Love the place. Lot's of great memories! I need to go back soon. Hard to explain the Australian "vibe" but I covered alot of ground down there and I fell in love with it.
It's not the same any longer, unfortunately. The past decade has seen the country lose itself against PC and woke culture. The Aussie spirit and "vibe" is dead. Our music industry is dead, our film industry, everything dead The people of the country keep fighting to stop the left wing woke globalist madness killing our country off but its just getting worse.
@@Huszooonlinestore What a shame. Lefties all over Europe as well. It's like poison running trough our veins. Hope the Aussies will manage to regain territory.
I totally believe that those of us born in the 60's, grew up in the best time period for music. We had the influence of 50's and 60's music through our parents. The seventies, we heard through radio play, and records of our older siblings. Then the eighties where we were old enough to go out clubbing, and really appreciating, and looking forward to new music such as this song. We could also enjoy music from the nineties and beyond. Some songs would be stuck in your head forever. You hear a certain song, and it brings you back to the first time you heard it.
Born in 61. I remember when Icehouse was Flowers. I had to get a 6 volt cassette player for my 66 veedub so i could play their first album on tape through tinny speakers. 1979. Lonsdale st Melbourne. Mind you, don't you appreciate listening to this song the way Ivar and the boys layed it down. 2024, our soundtrack never sounded better.
I have no idea why I never heard of Icehouse until a few years ago...they're amazing. Easily in the same category as Tears For Fears or Duran Duran for absolutely quality pop music. They have no idea how to write songs of this quality any more. Love Icehouse :)
From the states, I think I heard "hey little girl" in 83 driving around Iowa. It is up to the radio stations to help the people get new music. Even the 80's stations are in a closed loop of what that era's music is. There is so much more great music from the 80's out there.
Listen to the song Street Cafe....video is so Duran Duran like!! You'll enjoy! Icehouse is a hauntingly beautiful vid/song too. Heck all of them are! I'm big TFF and DD fan too! Have a good day!🙂
@@oliviavaldez8961 Ah you have great taste in music :) At the moment 've left the 80's and headed back to the 70's to listen to Zeppelin and play More Than A Feeling and other powr rock tunes on my acoustic here :) Thanks for the message, nice talkin to you! :)
This song defined the 80's for me and I began listening to music in the Sixties. It is still my favorite era and Icehouse gave us this beautiful gift to listen to.
@@cjeatmon1520me too….reminds me of my first serious girlfriend….I lived in the Isle of Man, she lived in Northern Ireland, takes me back everytime…..sadly she’s not with us anymore, passed away aged 47…..4 yrs ago😞
Music at its VERY BEST! Will never be overshadowed. Wish I could meet the gorgeous babe in this video, as well. The 1980s produced some excellent music videos. I used to really enjoy tuning into MTV whenever I'd get home from school to unwind a bit.
I forgot how good this song is. I used to love watching the repeat's of top of the pops. So you hardly ever hear songs like this. Class group. I miss the 80's.
An Aussie Classic. I Love the start - it has that real 80's innocence/calm and realness about it - the real 80's vibe which kinda still feels like yesterday. It's just not like that now though. People are different. Fear ruins one. But things will improve one day
@@MiguelRamos-th5bd es definitivo mira como lo describe , estás Rolas si que te ENAMORABAN de la Vida , de esa chica o de ese Muchacho tan Guapo que para mí es un forro , mango y Pimpollo . 😮.. so many memories (John & Bev Simmonds) you are responsible for my introduction to all these brilliant bands from down under in the early 80's, and they’ve lived with me throughout my life. In 1987 when I was sitting in my bedroom writing songs with crappy keyboards borrowed from school, I wanted to be this guy, and write like this guy 😁
I'm almost 40 years old and just heard this beautiful song for the first time in my life tonight while shopping at CVS. It was fifteen minutes until closing time at 11 and I was the only person in the store.
This guy was the composer to the soundtrack of Master and Commander. I used to think "ah just another 80s mullet" but no no, lads a musical legend and multi-talented genius that has lasted over 4 decades. Fair fucking play
That is so awesome and I TOTALLY agree! I was the same age as you when I discovered Icehouse in the 80s. I think there's something about Iva Davies' music and lyrics that really rings true at every age. The "Man Of Colours" album is one of my favorites of all time and listen to it start to finish quite frequently 💕
Born 1970. Teen in the 80's. Played this song @fullvolume in my car in the 90's. With all the windows open. Now my neighbors have to listen to all the music i grew up with and listened to myself.
The King of Mullets, Mr. Iva Davies, great voice too! I remember driving an Olds 88 in the summer of 1988 thinking about a girl name Jacquie, and that she was crazy for crushing on me. Man, what a time. I was higher than a kite with no help from drugs or booze!
I bought this cassette tape after I heard this song on MTV. Pressed play and got on the Freeway and it was pedal to the metal! Dam it was awesome! Great memories of such amazing music! 80s baby! !
