As a Bulls fan, I'm fine with trading Caruso. It's been time to blow it up, and as much as it sucks to see AC go, I'm happy he at least gets to go to a great team in the Thunder. On the otherhand, WHERE ARE THE PICKS?????
He gets hurt every other game sprawled out on the court or hobbling to the locker room. I know he usually tries to play through it but it lowered his trade value a lot and I never believed some of the rumors
Glad bulls fans are chiming in with sense as oppose to just the reactionary (oh we got fleeced) this current bulls squad while still a bit talented had pretty much reached their ceiling which as we have seen is a fringe playoff squad/first round exit squad especially with Lonzo likely never being as impactful as he was before injury best to blow it up trade your older stars while they still have solid production and solid trade value and see what you have in dosumo, white, and now giddey
@@euro51116no it’s not Caruso doesn’t fit our timeline at all. However we should’ve got 1 pick but I’m just glad they did something in the right direction
@@noah.conleyYh I guess, I don’t mind getting Giddey tbh it’s the fact that we couldn’t even get a FRP out of it. Just a real sucker punch. I feel soo robbed
as a thunder fan it may be a struggle. With giddey's controversy there is no saying his new teammates, staff, or fans accept him with open arms. He already talked about how this affected him mentally with us so he may start off really slow
I get the idea with the Bulls where you're rebuilding and you have someone young who truly wants to play the point but has the size to let Coby stay at the 1, but you HAVE to get more value for Caruso, this is highway robbery.
Not only that but Caruso and Dort's overlapping skillset and Cason Wallace being too good to not play is something to watch. I think the Thunder use Dort and picks to take a swing at Brandon Ingram, would imagine the Pels would love to have Dort to supplement CJ McCollums lack of defense
I have never seen such a BS trade in my life.. shows AK doesn't understand business. How in the hell does Getting rid of JG and all of the off the court stuff not result in giving up picks is completely beyond me much less getting a all defensive player in return.. Freaking clown world!!
Caruso's one of those guys i wouldnt even call a role-player, necessarily. Hes like Derrick White-a superstar at doing role-player stuff. A role-star if you will.
Look at all the championship teams that have added an elite defensive guard. Jrue with Milwaukee and Boston. KCP with the Lakers and nuggets. Derrick white.
@@t7-nba379 come on now. dude is 21 yo, 6'8, shooting over 50% from 2 at 12 attempts, over 80% FT, gives you 14 pts avg in 29 minutes, 7 rebounds, 5 asts. With 33% from 3 he is good enough for getting a defender out, which means: Create Space. And from watching we know he can facilitate well, but he does need the right offensive strategy. He wasnt applied quite efficiently in OKC which is why they traded him.
Giddey just needs to work on his shot and defense, but if you put the right players around him he can be a good player for the Bulls. He's a true PG with size and ability to rebound. He's still very young. He has time to improve on his weaknesses
Dawg he is not getting the ball unless they make him the ball dominant guard off the bench, which is not gonna help you win with this roster lmfao I’m tired of yall trying to make sense out of something thats the complete opposite, then try to call ppl who are calling bullshit “casuals” lmfao.
Feels like the thunder are trying to build a Celtics clone... 2 elite on-ball defenders (Caruso & Dort vs. Jrue & D.White), 2 elite scorers (SGA & Jalen Williams vs JT & JB), unicorn big man who does everything (Chet vs Porzingis), Elite 3pt shooting off the bendh (Isaiah Joe vs. Hauser/Pritchard).
Okc been trying to do what the Celtics are doing for years which is why okc haven’t gone after a traditional big even early in the rebuild they always had mike musicals,Dario saric even al horford at one point the only big that was traditional was Moses brown but they was trying to tank and that was for half the season
Getting one of the best defensive players in the league (who also just hit 40% on threes) for a guy who was unplayable in the playoffs... OKC is winning it all
Giddey is a true PG and struggles at SG, with Coby White emergence seems like Giddey'll be in the same situation he was in OKC. Caruso improves OKC perimeter D to elite territory, beyond the exemplary unit it already was, but until they get another stretch 5 i don't know how much it moves the needle. Hopefully they use some of their picks to get someone hefty that can RB and hit a 3, b/c that's what it'll take to beat a perfectly cast Celtics roster. Maybe that's Clingan but I'm skeptical
@@Thunderman2 LMAO yeah if they couldn’t win a championship with Durant, Westbrook, Harden, and Ibaka they are not winning a championship with this team in the loaded west. This year was a fluke and they’re overrated. Keep this comment in mind the end of next season
Bulls trade their fan favorite player for one of the least liked players in the league who has a worse shooting percentage and didn’t even get picks What a joke
@@russellwestbrookyellingatw9381J-dubs is good but not notable. The thing is more: if you have to target J-dubs as the weakest defender, you're in trouble.
@@verward what are you talking about? If there is someone that's going to be hunted it's SGA. He's phenomenal in passing lanes but his on ball defense is the worst in their starting 5
The weird thing is Giddey is much younger than Caruso. Ordinarily, you'd say the Bulls traded for potential. But people are so down on Giddey's outside shooting that they see this as a losing trade. It's understandable because there's a good chance Giddey might never figure out the shooting.
@@Mark-oe1df He's 21 .... the getting "hunted" is overrated and an obsession for tiny brains. Luka gets "hunted" and he just took a mediocre team to the finals. OKC has a lot of TOP defenders so naturally you want to get SGA and Dort off of you if you can. Giddey can improve on defense with work. He actually shot well against the Pelicans but not against the Mavs.
Very low IQ fans who don't know how good Giddey is as a PG. For Bulls fans, imagine playing Patrick Williams as a pick and roll ball handler, or Vucevic as a stretch 4 guarding wings. That's how dumb what OKC was doing with Giddey was.
Bulls GM needs to be fired immediately for not getting any draft compensation! Like bro must be close with Presti cuz ain’t no way Okc got Caruso for this cheap 😂
Nah, the Bulls FO is doing exactly what Jerry wants them to do; keep us as a fringe play-in/first round exit and pretend we're gonna improve next season. Be just good enough to keep asses in seats without ever having to spend any money. If this team cared even a little bit, they blow it up at the end of the 2023 season.
I think the trade is better for the bulls than most people will say considering caruso’s on the last year of his deal but trading giddy at the lowest of his value for Caruso at his highest 1 for 1 is an undeniable failure of management from the bulls
man as a mavericks fan im terrified only thing is we'll still get more rebounds but okc still has trade assets so it's not like okc can't get another rebounder
I would do anything to be in the front office the moment after that handshake when the bulls leave the negotiations and everyone erupts in laughter and celebration.
yoo, you going to have a tent at the parade tomorrow or something to meet fans? would love to meet you one time on twitter i told you the elton john movie was better than lighthouse and you replied and said i was wrong lmao
Championship pedigree, all nba level defense, and locker room veteran leadership...for a dude who can't shoot and can't defend lol sam presti should be arrested for this
as a bulls fan im happy with this, i mean whats the likelihood of getting a player as good as giddey even with two picks? quite low actually, we gave up an ageing player for one with tons of potential, only people not clued in on basketball would think its a bad trade
all the off court stuff has very significantly damaged giddey's reputation, but he's still a 21 year old former 6th overall pick w size who was a starter on the #1 team in the west. if the bulls are going to finally commit to a rebuild, this makes sense. i feel like people tend to overestimate the value of picks simply because they have the potential to theoretically turn into anyone, but at the end of the day, giddey has value that the majority of future first round picks won't match
Do you guys obsessed with a sexual incident when Giddey was 19 and slept with an underage girl using fake ID know that the case is closed? The police dropped the case and her family FLAT OUT did not want to drag their daughter into a court case. The CASE is CLOSED. Why would people still be obsessed with this unless they're 30, living in mom's basement, and never slept with a girl of any age. The CASE is CLOSED. It's not like Giddey was some 50-year old step dad sleeping with his teenage step-daughter.
Josh Giddey’s ceiling is a Tobias Harris level player of impact. Good enough to help the team, not good enough to be a 3rd option, but too good to get on a cheap contract.
I believe Giddy was one of the best targets on the market to build around as a team looking for a new start, especially if you are planing to rebuild. The Thunder had no use for him looking at what he is bringing to the table and what they are trying to do as a team, furthermore, he cant compete against sga for obv reasons. Id say the trade is a win for both teams, even though the Bulls shouldve tried to get atleast a pick.
okc still need a 7 ft defensive center who can protect the rim who can bang with jokic or embiid, bonus if they can playmake as well. chet cant do that at this point in his career.
That's lowkey a bad move for OKC, they obviously had to trade Giddey because the fit wasn't there, but what they need is size. Now they have four players under 6'6'', and not a single good rebounder.. Giddey was their best trading chip, and they moved him away for a player they don't need. Now they have to find a PF in FA, where the options are: Bron (now viable), PG (not sure if he's viable), and then the names are like Tobias or OG. Chicago traded an old dude for a young dude with potential, that's good for them
Josh is still very young so may work out for the Bulls in the long haul. He's a great passer and didn't get to showcase that this season. Needs to improve as a shooter and defender but only 21. Thunder feel they can win NOW ... and Alex is a better defender and 3-point shooter. Also, as the 6th player in the 2021 draft Giddey may expect to get paid more than Alex in his next contract. But ...Thunder need help on the BOARDS. They should have kept Sengun -- the guy they drafted with the 16th pick and shipped to Houston. One of the few Presti mistakes .... 🤔
People are acting like the bulls lost badly but they got a young player in Giddey and they needed to get rid of Caruso. Sure a pick would’ve definitely sweetened the trade but giddey is definitely a step in the right direction for the bulls.
We are literally Boston 2.0, now all we need is a couple bigs/forwards. OKC has 0 defensive liabilities. The size is for rebounding, which is apart of defense, but Ihart should cover it. I hope he becomes apart of the team.
Something tells me if Josh Giddey was coming out in this year's draft, and Alex Caruso was traded for the "pick" the Bulls needed to get him, and then "picked" him, we wouldnt be having this entire conversation. How many games did Caruso miss last season?
Hardest part as a bulls fan is getting no draft compensation, there was confirmed rumors the last 2 trade deadlines that Caruso would get us 2 first round picks. The bulls front office should all be in federal prison. On the flip side I hope okc fans treat Alex right, I know they’ll love him
Given the Bulls situation a first should have been in that trade. They were uptight about getting two firsts and theoretically they only got a first round talent. "IF" Giddey turns out to be good then sure they was a great trade. Idk its just lacking.
As a basketball fan, I’m upset. The bulls are deciding to be a business over a basketball team. How do you not get 1-2 firsts in this deal? Caruso is 1 of 2 players with his impact in his role (Derrick White being the other) because they don’t care. Why tf do you want Josh Giddy for this price when he’s at his all time lowest value??? And because the bulls are such a disaster who can’t comprehend winning=more money, they just handed OKC a finals appearance imo. Caruso is gonna get a 4-year extension for around $80 mill there. OKC just replaced the dude who got played off the court in the playoffs with the dude EVERY PLAYOFF TEAM WANTED. I’m just upset. They just gave up. They just gave up one of the most enticing assets in the whole league for a dude who is disliked off the court and coming off a terrible playoff run. He’s Ben Simmons except less defense and a mildly better jumper. Alex Caruso is Derrick White with slightly less length but more strength.
With his off court stuff, and being targetted by mavs until he's unplayable, giddy's value should be the lowest. Caruso on the other hand is like the kind of player every contender need. Being able to shoot a little, don't need the ball, and good(great) on defense. With derrick white and jrue holiday's performance in the finals, this type of players should be up on value. How they get traded for each other, while OKC didn't even need to put in a pick or two out of their zillions of trade, is beyond me. If giddy gets into trouble with the off court stuff... Chicago willingly freed OKC off this risk, and gave caruso while they are at it. To anyone defending giddy, please tell me you are the girl's father and that you promise you'll never do anything to giddy. Unless you can do this, don't tell me giddy is safe from the troubles, and is worth the risk + caruso.
It's not that shocking that Billy Donovan trusts Sam Presti, just look past that overblown scandal and the bulls might get a good piece for next season, I hope so, would be great to see the bulls up there again
It's so weird he got traded this fast. The off-season just started. He's not crazy valuable but will be desirable for multiple contenders. Shouldn't you, y'know, take some time to to maximize the return?
Bro OKC fleeced the Bulls and as a rockets fan I hope we blow out the Bulls because they have just made OKC a much better team with Caruso on this team
