Jordan was really onto something with his moral thoughts and language question, like there was a REALLY good question in there. In the Discourse on Inequality, Jean Jacques Rousseau tries to explain inequality in society by examining man’s development from the amoral primitive being of the past to the complex and morally corrupt agent seen today, and part of that exploration involves questions about the rise of language and complex emotions like greed, jealousy, and pride. It’s definitely a really good question, one that I don’t think Rousseau was even able to answer himself all that well, so nice job Jordan.

Love the pod, this episode was so funny, but I do think the question of the week would be better if Jordan thought about it for a few minutes. I get the point is that he's trying to be dumb, but recently I swear his questions / statements are over-the-top levels of stupid

It is absolutely more frugal to cut out all the unnecessary bullshit people buy out of laziness or mild addiction, such as expensive coffees, delivery, amazon "splurges," etc. so in that sense the Boomers are right, but no amount of frugality will buy anyone a house.

It's interesting to me that Peter said to Jordan that boomers are their parents. I'm 30 and there are no boomers in my family. My grandparents were all silent generation (1 before boomers) and my parents aunts and uncles are all gen x (1 after boomers). Tbf, they're all close to the beginning (grandparents) and end (their kids) of the boomer generation, but none of them actually are. I'm also the oldest in my family of my generation.

Guys, guys. Adam and Eve had more than just the three main children. Women were almost never named in the Bible so we wouldn’t have known about them, and they likely had other sons that just weren’t named due to not be memorable (even if being memorable means killing you sibling 💀) Unfortunately yes, that means we are all children of incest, but hey. “Love is love” and all that.

I never realized how poorly people can picture things in their mind. I thought everyone could think of an apple and just... see it. I can literally picture the texture and juiciness of an apple in my hand. (I think it's because I've eaten a lot of apples in my life if I had to picture something I encounter less I probably wouldn't be able to picture it as well.)

Jordan is actually right that nothing actually smells good, we decide what smells good based on what its associated with. I'm pretty sure there was a prison experiment that tested this

Adding to Peters experiment: the ends of the spectrum are Aphantasia and Hyperphantasia (spelling mistakes possible) Aphantasia is a complete lack of phantasy, being unable to picture things inside the mind. While Hyperphantasia is the opposite with an extremely vivid picture sometimes even accompanied by the other senses like smell or sound. Both are a bother or a strength when drawing as people with Aphantasia are unable to picture something to draw but can draw the things in front of them without distraction while Hyperphantasia have the entire opposite problem often leading to frustration. Back in Roman times, when a general won a huge battle, he would go back to his city and parade through the streets in triumph. People would cheer and celebrate for this general. These parades were actually called "triumphs." The generals would ride through the streets in a chariot, and they would have a specialised slave called an "auriga." This slave would continuously whisper "memento mori" into the general's ear, a Latin phrase meaning something along the lines of "remember that you are mortal." Just a cool fact I wanted to share, maybe you've heard it before. There actually were professional roasters in ancient Rome.

I think a lot of deaf people learn to think through images instead of language. Not 100% sure cuz im not deaf but i do remember hearing that-
