@MCulpa when i came to nz like 8 years ago, when i saw the haka in hotel or someplace, i was actually really embarrassed and laughed. but now I'm living in nz for like 8 years, and I finally realize haka is really awesome. very strong and cool.
@BigLaxFan94...............My Brother i'm from The Twin Islands nation of Trinidad and Tobago. My country carries a culture as rich than many nations. i just enjoy seeing that like us they keep their culture alive. In our history we had the Caribs, Arawaks, African, English, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Syrians, Indians. I would never overlook my history. I myself is of East Indian Descent.
The Haka is a traditional dance/war cry of NZ. Can't we all just respect other cultures? I visited NZ once, it was the most glorious country I had ever visited. The people there were so kind and thoughtful too.
lol i remeber when me a few mates went to america for a holiday in a bar some guys tried to pick a fight wit us we just did the haka and he almost shat himself. we were just accepting his challenge and issuing one back. the HAKA is awesome and so very powerful GO NZ!!!
@NintendoRambo Asia. I would love to write an essay on this in this comments section because I'm studying this at uni. All Pacific Islanders are descendents from Asia.
@SuperLechaim The Kon-Tiki Expedition and the Ra Expedition by Thor Heyerdahl explores the idea that they were ancient Egyptians who rowed across to Peru in reed boats. That they colonised Hawai and other islands on the way back laden with kumara, thought to have originated in Peru.
@MCulpa I'm going to have to disagree but that's now what it's essentially saying. I am neither Maori nor am I from New Zealand, but I learned the Ka Mate Haka from my friend, a direct descendent of Te Rauparaha, the Maori chief who wrote the Ka Mate haka. When you interpret the words, it is telling his story and feelings as he was in hiding from his pursuers. It is in telling the story, do the Warriors ignite the fire within them, using the energy to intimidate their opponents.
"IT'S LIKE MARSEIILLESE-mwhhahaaaha Oh my god, i surely appreciate this unique and beautiful form of expression I am from Eastern Europe but really , what westerners understand, as you watch this and other clips also, is that you can sing other songs over this!! Oh my god we are idiots!!
@SuperLechaim yo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im maori/european and i am very proud of my maori side yet if u saw me u wuldnt no im maori so mate ur comment is kind of disrespectful we dont think we a maori we are maori and very proud
This thing called HAKA, to me sounds like a WAR declaration, I don't understand the language, but after hearing a HAKA it makes me want to fight to the death. To me HAKA is like Death Metal in acapella...
I think the haka is somewhat violent, and it should be< its a challenge to the strength of the opponent. to show them that you have no fear, and plus they are about to play rugby, a totally violent sport (awesome). I plyed american footbal for 7 years and i loved the pre game pump we would get and the way we would challenge the opponents with our ritual.... i would love to be able to challenge an opponent in the way these hakas do!!! Very intimidating
@ERVFilmZ chillax, all my education is from Deadliest Warrior. I really wish I hadn't gotten highest rated comment on this video. Now everyone thinks I'm being interpreted as some authority on the Haka or something. THE HAKA IS REALLY COOL GUYS LIKE SUPER FUCKING COOL SO COOL
without taking the violent aspect in consideration. I think rugby is more manlike than american football. Because in rugby, the players wear as less protection as possible, while in American football, it seems like they try to wear as much protection as possible. So rugby is physically more challenging than american football. (excuse me for any language errors, english is a foreign language to me)
FYI The team is called "All Blacks" because that is their team color. All Black, not Silver and Black, or anything else with Black. The team members are all the colors that people can be.
Yes you're right, sorry I translate: I'm withy you about this, In American football the players wear a "armor-like protrections" , In my opinion rugby is more real, and fisically harder.
I'm not really an expert on the subject, but there are many kinds of haka, and I suppose some aren't too violent, but this is violent. I'm not sure what these people were watching, but it doesn't seem to be the video we were.
this haka, callled haka peruperu, is the war haka (ritual dance). the violent moves and the traditional tongue dusplay (not always present nowadays) are meant to intimidate the enemies. non-viloent? hey! it's a WAR dance, preceding the fight !!!
Estoy totalmente deacuerdo contigo, bajo una "armadura" los golpes se atenuan, el Rugby es mas duro fisicamente... I prefeer to respond you in my language. XD
How long have wahine been doing this haka. Maori, look deeper into this haka. The Te Rauparaha story is only superficial. Check out the next wananga by Herewini Jones or Wallace Wihongi andlkearn your culture Old Man In The Hills
how can they say that Haka is not violent, it is a war dance and the sticking the tongue out sign is like saying "I am going yo eat you" which is what maori warriors would do in ancient times once they defeated u, they would eat u and shit u. At once honoring you because they would eat youy to gain your strength and at once humiliating you , turning you into human feces... so saying haka isn't violent is just stupid. It is a war song, and they should be proud of iT.
i agree with you markydaws777 im the same age and the winger im faster than most people in my year and my coach says im the best winger but for some reason my team passes it to the skinny weak winger who can do precisley shit
