0:59 imagine being back in ww2 and in the dead of the night, hearing that noise in all directions coming at you. that was the maori battalion. BLEEEEEEH
rahowhero yes, everything is in its place, when u tremble u just need to show it, like they do playing with fingers, when your knees get weak just squat like they do and press hard leg muscles, to get any thoughts out of mind do like they do - goggle, stick out your toung and shout
It’s about building there spiritual strength and at the same time lower there spiritual strength. That’s called getting mental edge, but then you’ve got to put it in practice on the paddock. But remember it’s more about demonstrating that this is a clash and they’re prepared to give it there all. It’s not about or solely about victory.
Hosea Gear is the bomb diggity! Maori people are always representing their culture and i love that! I may be Samoan,German and Chinese..but the passion I see in the Maori people and in the Haka always gets me!! Love it!! Hosea Gear did AWESOME in leading this haka..as well as the rest of the team;) Huge fan of Hosea Gear!!!
How can anyone put this down? I'm a german/english/irish guy from the United States and I love it everytime I see it. Tradition is a great thing and it's awesome that they allow all the players to do this no matter what their ethnicity is. I am all for keeping up on the traditions of the native people, you can't live in the past but you can appreciate it.
This is an awesome video. I love the Haka war dance and I love how nervous the Irish look while watching this dance. Almost makes me want to watch a soccer match. Almost.
The All blacks BRAND depicts quality and high standards. It is a shame they belittle the haka and themselves when they don't perform it to this high standard regularly.Well done Hosea Gear and The team of the day,you make us proud to be Kiwi! when you throw down the gauntlet like that!
I grew up in the U.S no exposure to Rugby whatsoever played our football. About a year ago I seen a match on TV with the All Blacks they did the Haka I was pumped before I even knew the game. Now I play rugby and wish I had started years ago Its the best physically competitive sport in the world. I prefer the union version but both are great. America needs to get with the ruck.
"We are the All Blacks, of the New Zealand people." "We stand on this field arrayed for battle." "At our backs we feel the might of tradition wrought by those who have gone before." "Over our hearts we bear the Silver Fern, emblem of mana to die for." "This challenge is now thrown out to you. Take it if you dare for we will not withold ourselves this day and the faint of heart will surely be lost." Whiti te ra! Hi!
Muito bom, isso sim é uma demonstração de patriotismo e respeito à tradição e cultura que são passadas por seus antepaçados, muito bom, tenho certeza que ainda um dia verei um jogo dos All Blacks.
I have observed the mexican culture and you can see the calender with a face in the middle sticking out his tongue it means , showing his soul!At least a shaman told me once, back in the day couples would look at each other sticking out their tongues and watching, letting the soul out and let them enter aswell! And they do though aswell Respect to the Maori! the haka gives me energy and strength , this team is a family on field, dying for each other! Raw nowadays
The man with his shirt off is Hosea Gear, his brother is Rico Gear who has lead a haka for the AllBlacks type in 'kapa O Pango all blacks'. Im not going to lie alot of young Maori playing sports look alot like Hosea Gear, we are a distinguished people.
Man, I haven't seen this is ages, but Looking at Kees Meeuws there man deadly, don't know nowadays since the highlanders have just called him up out of retirement for their games in the weekend at the age 37! Fun times! lol
Mr O'Reilly says "Lads we are here to play New Zealand maori, I've never met such a greater, friendly, bunch of guys, come over to the halfway line and meet them, they're eager to meet you ,come on now lads, form a line, no man hugging, make a gap there lads, righteo then"
man this teams stacked, better then the maori team we have today. its a young team with alot of potental i hope . . . no i know that maori rugby will come through and the boys will continue to carve it up, current maori all blacks in the abs are arron crudden aron smith dane coles rayn crotty ben smith joe moody cory jane and dagg. keep up the good work family
@basslover171 Thanks for the info, some of them are mixed right? I know there are a lot of half/partial Maori people in NZ as well as the full blooded Maori. Either way this is just awesome!!! gotta love it lol.
That was awesome - so powerful.... I gotta say, it looks better when they have their shirts off (not just for the view) but it looks more organic, more real - they look like warriors.
I agree with you. However the Maori in the early conflicts with the British decided to face the Brits in the open field more than once. This proved to be a costly lesson for the Maori...therefore changing tactics was smart.
@crazytempest Doesn't surprise me in the least. They have a strong and proud culture worthy of honour and respect. I certainly wouldn't like to face them across a battle field!
@bordshat no it isnt... there are thousands of different hakas from all over aotearoa (nz). if you made the team and by chance didnt know this particular haka, it would be taught to you, usually from another team mate or a well respected kaumatua (elder). each haka has a meaning or story within it... this one talks about the beginning of time and life.
has anybody seen the haka with hosea gear leaping like 10 feet in front of the group and leads from there--i saw it a couple of months ago and cant find it anymore thanks for the help :)
imagine you're a small group of 14th century english or spanish colonists, you just land on a island you have never seen before, you walk down to a clearing and see almost one thousand men doing this carrying spears, axes and covered in warpaint. that is why the maori's are fucking terrifying
@MrBucket0fries By the way, the Haka is a war dance therefore it cannot be refereed to as 'skinny' and seeing as it isn't an object of mass but a movement it's also impossible to 'break him in half'. Tee hee.
