nice my first was a ih 856 or it was the 1256. i dont remember what model it was. i'd have 2 ask again. but then he sold it & got a 986. i've driven a 1086 a few times. just not 2 long ago i got a ih 1586.
Thanks for taking time and putting this on here! We've had 2 806s on our farm and I wish we would have never got rid of my grandpas. But I'm trying to buy it back
I inherited a 1967 806 my grandpa bought new, also a 54 super mta, and an H, plus a F-14 thats been in the same spot in shed for 42 years or more, thats how old i am and it has never moved
Right before I was born in 63, dad bought a new 806 WF from Birkeys in Rantoul. Had several M&W upgrades done to it. What a powerhouse it was. Then in 68 he bought another new 806 with an all weather cab and like the 63, he had M&W upgrades on it.
The 806s are great tractors. We still use them today. Dad bought an IH 914 pull type combine and at the time all he had with a 1000 RPM PTO was an 1100 Massey. It was underpowered and anything that could slightly plug it would kill it. He bought a 1066 the next year and of course it had no trouble and he bought an 806. One year the PTO clutches went on the 1066 and he had to use the 806 which is similarly powered to the 1100 Massey, right? Wrong. If the combine plugged the 806 would roast the drive belts. It had no trouble. We now have 3 806s. A Farmall on propane, a diesel International, and an International on propane.
very cool. my friend has a ih 914 pull type combine & a 806 2. but he parked the 806, it was tired. he runs his 914 on his 1086. he was going 2 put it on his 1566 becuz it has more hp.. but he likes it on the 10 more.. my 1586 could run that combine just fine.. we have a farmall 400 gas & a farmall B im hoping 2 pull that B out soon.
My grandfather had a international 806 and i thought the 806 is the best tractor my grandfather ever he's had nothing but the like an international 806 tractor to me that tractor is number one with me always have been and always will be number one
We had Deeres. Our IHC dealer gave us a deal we could not pass up on a used 806. Boy did it run. We then got a 856 without trading thank god. It was not the machine that the 806 was. It was quickly traded for a 1256. A few other trades happened but the 806 remained.
I have 2 International wheatland 806's the one I am rebuilding right now it has a M&W turbo on it and 23.1x30s cant wait to get it running again. I saved it from ND she had a spun bearing come to find out last week. Just bought new crankshaft today not reground, new crank going to totally overhaul her and restore it but it will also get used for farming from time to time. Also have a international 650 diesel, w450 gas, 660 diesel and yes the 2 806 wheatlands, yes im a wheatland fan!
Wyatt Hansen, one thing I will caution you about the International 806 is the steering will wander at high speeds The Farmalls don't have that problem because the steering system is different.. So watch it when you go on the road. all the International or Wheatlands, as you call them from the 706 - 1456 have the same thing and the same problem. My dad and I have owned lots of those tractors and they are all great. I think a Farmall looks naked next to one of those.
The M was pretty clapped out, seat had a permanent lean to the right from plowing, it did have fire crater head on it and a reworked carb, but the hydraulics with the twin screw pump really was the weak point.
It's been a long time since I've seen a real slide show with audio. I'm guessing that must have been intended as a dealer presentation or the like. How did you come across it?
punhoss no kidding. Our 806 diesel has 18.4x38s and we need to run duals. 16.9x34s aren't enough to hold down a WD-9 let alone an 806. A lot of the earlier International 806s had 18.4x34s Those are adequate for a 706 but not an 806.
they r good tractors but deere is still asking 2 much 4 them.. work hard & save ur penny's then u'll get the 1 u've been wanting.. just take care of this 1 so u wont have 2 many problems.
