What are your favorite features of the new Microsoft Edge (Chredge) and do you plan to use it? A feature I'd like to see added to Edge is "Tab Tiling". It's a feature in Vivaldi I use that creates a split screen view.
@@MrEricmopar although Edge, Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi and other browsers are based on the open-source Chromium platform, there's a vast amount of development that goes on top of that foundation to get a final product like Edge or Chrome. In Edge, the entire Google authentication and services infrastructure is replaced before you even get to features like Immersive Reader and others mentioned in this video. The visible skin on top is only a tiny part of developing a new browser. Also keep in mind that Microsoft has now become one of the largest contributors to underlying Chromium source code in collaboration with Google and the Open Source community.
@@redhotmak :v Chrome=google services, that's why it allows you to only use a google account as Microsoft Edge allows you to sign in only with Microsoft account= some Microsoft services
@@redhotmak wow! take it easy, good 🙂 as you know Chrome OS is limited to only install Google apps, new Edge have more privacy settings, but by the way you don't care about Google know all of your information or trackers on various websites obtain your information, but yeah install Chrome OS if you care of privacy 🙂 good luck with Google, because they use your information as many web site with trakers you're a very lovely fan of Google Chrome and everything, just I see your way to comment and I think wow this people really loves Chrome with low privacy 🙂
It's funny how they are supporting their brand new browser on Windows 7 for which they announced its end of life a few weeks ago. Of course, the only reason they are doing this is because Google supports Chrome on Windows 7, so Microsoft gets Windows 7 support on its browser for free.
They don't need to. All chromium-based browsers both benefit and suffer from Google's decision to support some OSs and not others. When Google decided to stop supporting Chrome on Win XP and Vista, all chromium-based browsers immediately stopped working on those OS too. The new Edge browser is no exception.
@@hrgwea not really, Chromium is open source. That mean MS can fork the code to keep compatibility. Not that they will do it, but it is very possible. A lot of support on obsolete machines in open source software is due to fork.
@blitzcaster Chromium already is compatible with Windows 7. Microsoft doesn't need to fork anything to obtain that compatibility. They get it for free. That's the point.
Really love Edge! Made the switch because Chrome uses a lot of RAM and it slowed my PC. Really love the sleeping tabs, they save RAM usage. Yall should try Edge's sleeping tabs if you hate browsers using a lot of RAM
I use Brave with their own search engine and Edge with Bing, I'm not fussed about looks as long as it has a zoom function, I live in Turkey so a translator is always handy. Your videos are always packed with info, thank you.
Thanks again Tech Gumbo. I do like the new edge, as you say though, it is still in it`s early days n lacks variety in it`s features, even though the ones you have mentioned are really innovative. My biggest turn off at present is the new edge, like the previous version, does not give me the option, to upload an image or theme from my PC, as my edge browser home page, back ground image, also the themes in microsoft store are limited n as yet as far as I can see n have tried, you cannot access google chrome web store themes, only apps. Still early days in the new edge development as far as features go, still...not holding my breathe that the new edge will ever have the PC image or theme, upload browser home page background option. So still not close to being my default browser, even though it is a big step up from the previous edge. As always, your straight to what really counts n detailed n informative, without the unnecessary hype. Thank you again Tech Gumbo!
Nothing compares to EDGE ease on the eyes! The layout is just brilliant im the OCD type and EDGE immediately caught me hooked they have it all NEWS, INFO, MARKETS, WEATHER, ETC layed out in a very organized fashion!!! Love microsoft edge
Absolutely Fantastic Browser. It's insanely fast and it looks great. I'm sure there will be updates that'll make it even better sometime in the future, but still at the moment, it's excellent.
so I tried it and I liked it, it feels just like Chrome, however the thing that kills it for me is while you can change the default search engine on the ADDRESS bar, the new tab search bar will always be bing no matter what
The new Microsoft Edge pop out in my suggested in my start and I tried it, let me tell you I have been using it ever since. Already ditched Google Chrome
I definitely love this Edge! Functions are sooo handy for me. I install websites as apps, browse through Bing etc. And you forgot about Collections! One of the biggest things I love about it is that.
Yeah I used the new Edge in Beta too for awhile. I sent them some feedback, suggesting they add a customization feature like FF, where the user could open it up and click and drag common features like print buttons to the toolbar, but they didn't do it. That being said, I agree with others, Edge is a bit better than Chrome now, simply because the menu is more user friendly than Chrome's tendency to bury commonly accessed settings/features under multiple clicks.
Five or six years ago, I would have agreed with the conventional wisdom that Google search is better than Bing. That's around the time Bing caught up with Google in my own testing. I've been quite satisfied using Bing as my default search engine ever since. I'd honestly like to see some actual examples of Google superiority over Bing for common search scenarios used by >90% of Internet users these days. So far, every time someone has taken up the challenge with an actual example, Bing easily matches Google and even provided more comprehensive results some local restaurant searches. Of course one could find obscure cases where each search engine stands out, but overall, Google superiority seems increasingly based on past reputation than fact. I'm totally open to being proven wrong. Bing it on!
I've tried most browsers over the last 15 years or so and for the last 4 years, I've mainly used Chrome. However, I was sick of trying to play live streaming concerts on Tube, Facebook etc and having constant buffering problems, resulting in me having to refresh the page all the time. Two weeks ago, it was happening again and I decided to try the new Edge browser. WOW!! The difference was like night and day. Edge has really come a long way since I last used it, it's now insanely fast. The fact that you can now use practically all the addons that I had in Chrome makes it even better. The only gripe I have now is that you still (to my knowledge) can't click on web links to open in a new tab with Edge, which is annoying but hopefully that might change soon. I never thought I'd say this but or the first time ever, I'm actually really liking Edge.
I've been using Firefox from version 1 & before then when it was Netscape. I have also use Chrome from the start. I love Firefox & like Chrome. I have tried to use Chrome for every day use but I always came back to Firefox. I've been using the new Edge browser from day one b & I love the new Edge browser. Specially since I can use uBlock Origin which I used on all my browsers. Don't miss any of your cons for my needs It works great. Love it.
well, i just installed Microsoft Edge, and the most important thing to me is the RAM since I'm a graphic designer! the first thing I realized is that my laptop isn't screaming while browsing and this is a huge PRO! it is LIGHT and FAST and I'm keeping it.
I quite like it. Being based on Chromium caught my attention since my Go to browser is Chrome. No complaints. I am using this to post it and with the toggle to allow Chrome Extensions enabled I added all my favorites and it is pretty much indistinguishable in use to Chrome.
Microsoft edge was on my desktop from its latest windows update and it was pretty quick, atleast for me, and less heavy on my pc. And it was so easy to transfer from chrome to edge
I use Firefox mostly but have had no complaints with the new Edge when I used it. It's faster and better than the old Edge. So now I have 3 browsers: FF, new Edge, and Brave.
I've started using Edge today and my god does it feel so much smoother. I do hope they eventually get rid of Bing or at least rename it and change the logo. So far so good.
I admit how the performance has changed especially when opening youtube. However, as a longterm Edge user, I realized that they have removed the 'Tab Restore' feature of which used to be useful for me but now it is gone. have no idea why they removed it.
I've tried it on both PC and mobile. I have zero complaints in how it works now (used to have a major lag), I can actually arrange my bookmarks more effectively (this time) and I get to use all my essential add-ons. So far it's good.
One feature that I like and have been waiting for is the ability to pin a web page on your desktop by holding down the padlock and dragging it to the desktop.
"ability to pin a web page on your desktop by holding down the padlock and dragging" Have you tried it? I now have 4 new shortcuts on my desktop-incl one to this video-one each from Vivaldi, Opera, Opera GX, and Edge. It's been possible for a long time, don't remember when…
Fun fact, the reason why the extensions on Edge is a little bit limited is because the Microsoft developers takes a lot of time to look in extensions, as an example there is an extension called Ad Remover in the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store, that actually work. Every single review it has are 5 stars, but the bad thing about it is that the extension is only available for Microsoft Edge Users.
Another con is that you cannot sign into the browser with a google account you can ONLY use a Microsoft account, so people switching to edge from chrome cannot bring everything over by signing in.
Thank God for this browser. For more than a year I struggled with my CPU fan going nuts everytime I would load RU-vid or Google Maps, I even decided to take my PC to computer store on repair at one point, only that I figured out it was just because Chrome uses too much of my CPU and hard disk capacity. When I switched browsers, it was heaven. I'm getting feeling it's even faster than Chrome.
Though, I think when it comes to viewing pdfs, previous version was better. It lets me highlight my text and I can change the color and size of my pen.
I didn't think a Microsoft program would be this good. I downloaded just to check out the hype, and now it's already my main browser. It has exactly everything I want, the best mix between Chrome, Firefox and Edge. It's so fast, so far the fastest I've used. Also very lite, instantly boots and closes. Good stuff.
I am Chrome and Opera user eversince, but since the revamp of Microsoft Edge, this time I uninstall both Chrome and Opera. Edge satiate my browsing experience. To the surprise, it is now fully customize, fast browsing even in slow connection. If you don't like Bing as search engine, you can actually change the default in the Advanced Settings. Even in my Android phone, it looks premium in Dark Mode.
Well I never thought I would say this but I change my default browser to New Edge browser cause its darn fast. It loads web sites in seconds which take minutes in chrome. It has the same chrome Inspect option and a good ads blocker and my favorite Dark Reader extensions.. Awesome!!! but still need a pop up blocker and java script switcher :(
Where is the capability to lock the favorites bar? Nice, maybe? Except the lack of control over the Favorites Bar. Do I need to say it again, the Favorite's Bar update is horrible.
I love very much, I've been using it for the past month as my main browser. I am watching this video and commenting through it. I didn't find a difference between ut and google chrome (was my main browser for almost 7 years).
I use different browsers for different purposes-more below if interested. Edge is now one of my fab 4, albeit at #4 on the list for now. It's fast and clean, and the Opera-style Speed Dial on the home page is admirable for its purpose. MS have made a good start so I expect to see Edge's usage grow this decade. ~ Vivaldi: main browser, the ability to group the Speed Dial into 'sub-Dials' [like sub-folders] is the killer for me with hundreds of favorites. Opera: was main, now my securest browser, used for banking, shopping & similar things with sensitive info-I have it paired with my secure password mgr & form filler. Opera GX: my entertainment browser, it's great if you're a gamer and I also use it for online movies and music. Edge: I have my VPN set to work only with Edge, so I don't have to keep connecting and disconnecting whenever I need it-and the Speed Dial function is ideal for having the small number of VPN targets I use all together for one click access.
When i switched from old non-chrome Opera to Firefox years ago, i discovered FVD Speed Dial and really wouldn't miss it anymore. The good thing is you can with that even synchronize your dials and bookmarks between Edge, Chrome and Firefox.
I switched from Brave to Edge with no problems. Brave had an issue with somethings I texted using "Messages for Windows" and Edge doesn't seem to have the same issue. I'll stick with Edge for now, assuming that there will be more and better changes down the road for customization.
Edge is very fast! My specs - intel i3 6gen, 8gb ram, 240gb normal m.2 ssd Stat with one gmail tab open- Chrome - memory usage i.e. ram: 400mb avg. Edge - memory usage i.e. ram: 96mb avg. It's faaaaast!!
past years in my windows 7 home ı usually have 3 browsers at same time and they are internet explorer, chrome and firefox the fastest one is chrome that time and i used to love chrom before 2 days ago ı installed edge (new version) to try it out and found out that its absolutely faster than chrome ı recommend this browser 1 million out of 10
it would've been funny if they still called it internet explorer and it managed to turn the table from being the slowest to the fastest. Think reverse Internet Explorer memes. Lost opportunity. :(
@@aaronhickin Thats how you see it because it was pre installed on your OS. Even if the new Edge was not included in Windows 10, I still would've used it.
Maybe I'm not as immersed in web-based applications as other, but there is nothing I found lacking in the new Edge. I used the old Edge as my default and the only thing I can say as a real 'Con' is that Microsoft doesn't inclued the "Blank Page" startup option anymore. Personally, I don't like waiting for all that Cr@p to load before I start working.
In Windows you can put a tab in a new window. Then you can just drag the window over to the other side of the screen. This is an alternative way to do split view...if you need it.
@@SirKolass no, one of the main reason why I switched to Bing is because of those ads. Bing too has them, but it's less and sometimes it's the same as the first result so the ads don't matter anyway.
I don't really mind the lack of visual customizations in Edge. A browser should be sleek in design, and must prioritize showing the best of the website instead of the flowers, butterflies, eccentric colors, and many other whatnots that will only serve as distractors to the whole experience.
@@mindscapetvarchives Actually you have to try it first before you say that. Like, actually get used to it, actually use the extensions, actually use it for a week. Actually not be a fanboy.
The only reason I am still using Chrome is because I'm very reliant on google products and it helps a lot on synchronising my different devices. But I did use it for some time and I think some people might like it, so I recommend trying it first because it's worth it.
