That's awesome. I love the motor rather than battery electric bikes. The dubbed commentary sounds like 1970s drivers education voice over 😁👍

Looks like fun but I prefer my ebike, which is faster, quiet, more Torque , etc. The Phatmoto has has more range, that's about the only thing I can think of over a goof Ebike. I will say the price on the Phatmoto is reasonable.

Those are finally pretty Cool! Finally someone got their heads out their @SS and purposely built a bicycle to mount a engine or motor on and having a true mounting point to bolt something to! The Chinese version of the gas powered bike's are good, but being a very cheap and lacking quality control over their products, you get less than you pay for when using these Chinese kits with the "80cc" which mostly aren't even what they are advertising for. The kits I've dealt with, these ones which claim to be a 80cc engine are barely a 50cc engine after you measure the bores and strokes of these POS things! They are worthless and have less power than a worn-out moped so forget riding a bike up a slight gradient! If they do have enough power to make it? The clutches which is nothing but a rubber Puck design and cannot handle any sort of heat or slippage, they'll melt down and leave you pedaling again! The cheap clamps all slip and move around on you Uless you drill holes in the frame of the bike or even weld it to the frame. Their method of clamping a sprocket to the few spokes is probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen before! This takes sketchy to another level! I have a hard time believing a couple pieces of wires are strong enough to prevent defection of the sprocket from any sort of torque these weak engines may produce? But the need for a purpose built bike is pretty good to hear Finally! Having a sprocket which freewheels when you let off the throttle would be a great start by using a sprag one way clutch so you don't need to worry about grabbing a clutch lever everytime you want to slow down. Keeping everything inline with itself is a great thing also! And it's long overdue for the bike industry to offer a purpose built multifunction frame and rear wheel which will accommodate a motor or a gas engine! The one thing that is hardest to overcome though is the gear ratios of the rear wheel to motor or engine drive, without having any transmission and selectable gear ratios for hills or flat terrain there's a problem here. It's only going to be good at one thing or another. They Normally come with a undersized rear sprocket for the back wheels! Being too small In diameter is good for all out flat, smooth terrain and will have you flying in speed! They don't really offer a sprocket large enough for what they'd actually need for off-road applications otherwise the sprocket would weigh as much as the bike itself and would have to be around 3/4s the diameter of the back tire is round! This is a problem! Being made of metal even aluminum, let alone steel will be heavy and huge, not to mention will require a ton of chain.......A mini-bike for example if you pay attention to how they're made, utilize a rear sprocket that's almost as big as the tire itself. This is purposely done for torque and off-road use! The only other option is a proper transmission or a sort of Jackshaft assembly inbetween the engine/motor and rear wheel in order to get enough gear reduction from it, so it doesn't overwhelm the engine/motors torque outputs......but it's a bike, and space is your enemy as well as weight. So finding enough room to accommodate such things is pretty much off the list, but it isn't impossible to do with the right engineering and frame layouts! Otherwise sorry for this long @SS rant about this topic, but this one has always bothered me...... I have no problem with people putting a small engine or motor on their bikes, but when you have to cob pretty much everything out of the boxes they send you from China to make something that isn't going to work? Or will wreck your expensive bike or rear rim from the spokes being twisted from the torque of the engine, all your really doing is throwing away $80-150.00 on a product that will not run long and will cause potential damage to your bike. Ask yourself beforehand if it's worth the money to damage your bike? Now there's a much better option or solution out there with these new bikes that are purposely built upon being powered by something else then a person. Nice find Ike and great demonstration! Yeah Sh1t happens bro, and chains like these if not perfectly inline with the sprockets are known for jumping off. Otherwise as always bro, stay safe out there! And again sorry to hear that you're home was robbed by some scumbags man! It's only going to be getting worse with this Asshole politicians letting criminals walk the streets and flooding through the boarders! Welcome to the democratic world of free everything! No offense, because I like those PhatMotos, but only tweakers, and homeless people ride powered bicycles where I live. I wish that wasn't the case, but unfortunately in my city it is.

Seriously, not hating on the channel, but I don't get this. The time and effort it takes to get ready and go to a place to ride, I'm gonna want the payback a bit higher. I'll stick to my 25 year old KX 125, my CT70, Or my XR350. Any one of which would be better suited for most everything that my mountain bike would be to much work for. Maybe a groomed BMX track? I don't care what anyone says I just don't trust the alloy frames for bicycles let alone a powered one. Maybe it will hold up and maybe it won't. If they made one of steel I'd be interested.

All crucial important drive train parts are welded in contrary to bolt on motorized kits ,engine mounts ,chain tensioner etc. I would trust the phat moto on my 14 mile round trip to work ,like my fat tire ebike is dependable, my schwinn rat rod style motorized bike is regulated to no more than a 2 mile radius. 😂

Ike, you've been holding out on me. I've been after you guys on cars and cameras to do a 212 mtb forever. Well it aint a 212 Predator, but it's close. They are more fun on pavement than dirt. Get rid of the chain adjuster, and make a spring loaded one attached to the torque convertor backing plate. You won't regret it. The 212 Predator is a wheelie monster that requires the carful arrangement of seat placement, and putting as much weight over the front wheel as possible, to keep the front wheel on the ground. If you have adjustable front suspension, set the rebound setting to slow, otherwise the fast rebound will bounce your front wheel off the ground at every start. And it's no fun when you're sitting at a light with lines of cars on both sides of you, and you don't know what direction your bike is going to take, after the front wheel comes back down. I rode my bike for a week, like this, before I moved some weight around, and got the wheelies under control. My bike will do 60, 70 mph without blinking, so as you can imagine, this would very much upset the police, so, I turned the throttle stop screw to keep me at 45 mph and not attract too much attention, although the Windsor police don't like motorized bikes of any sort. I did, however call them when I first arrived here and asked them if I needed to do anything to be legal, and I was told I am legal, so I ride with no fear of reprisals. So far, so good, 2 years, and counting.

The drive chain is right next to the disc rotor.If you oil the chain too heavily the oil may get on the rotor,be careful.

In 1974 I fitted out a Cinelli racing frame for touring and crossed the Moroccan Sahara with it. I'm interested in this bike, as at 70 years old, I feel a need for some help on the hills. I would opt for the Rover, knowing that, though not comfortable, a skinny wheeled bike can go overland...if one doesn't have a choice! - how often does one go overland anyway?

Great video, but these seem to be going backwards in the evolution of assisted bikes given all the technology available in electric assisted bikes. More torque, quieter (much quieter), 4+ hrs of ride time. However if these are meant to be more of a nostalgic upgrade catering to a niche crowd of people I find them very cool. Ride on.

Just out of curiosity did you let the engine break itself in first usually takes a few hours before you apply any load to the engine.

I built a couple 50cc 4 strokes on $100 Mongoose mountain frames. Adding 54 tooth rear sprockets helped with their bike packing mountain climbing purpose. Have been looking at the 79cc Phatmotos for some time, as the extra displacement sounds useful. But when you can build 2 Motos for $700, and pretend to be street legal, I might wait.

I wish the engine was as quiet as a Honda inverter Generator.

I've been through for drive shaft sprockets busted chain everything like that I call phatmoto and I asked him why can't you make anything heavy duty and the guy hung up on me p and I've had this bike going is 3 years

I put hook worm street tires on my rover. Great for road use only. I put a larger rear sprocket on my all terrain. Plenty of power off road.

Guys, how cool was this video! Amazing these Phatmoto bikes! I loved this proposal to be able to accelerate or pedal at the same time. Mainly on sand and fine dirt terrain, where steering a normal bike is very difficult. Congratulations on the hint of good humor. If anyone here enjoys or needs to cycle at home or train indoors for whatever reason, be it time, physical reconditioning or option, I know how boring it is without something exhilarating. Can you get just the bike without the motor ? My state has a under 50cc limit to be considered a Motorized Bicycle. If over 50cc it's a Motorcycle with all the license , tags , and insurance that goes with it.

Awesome video guys and extremely nice bikes. This is just my opinion now that if I’m going to buy a bicycle with a motor, I might as well get a dirtbike. Just my opinion now for cruising around and putting they’d be fine but I need to be able to do more than cruise around.👍🏼🤩❤️
