For them to all be buried together makes a huge statement. They were true brothers and friends who weren't just acting that way for the camera. What a beautiful section for them, too. If there's a rock and roll heaven, they're up there doing it together for sure! Very interesting on the shooting location and the lady named Elizabeth. Love the grave of the little girl Martha .. and the little baby, so sad 😢 ... It's so cool to see the back album cover location. What a beautiful place this is. Skinny roads like that in cemeteries drive me crazy btw. RIP to Mr. Bond and God bless the mess in that section too. Well, it took me longer than I thought to get the me time to come back to actually watch this, but sooo worth the wait! What a great video Scott!! RIP to all ❤💐
This cemetery it’s amazing, unique. The hills, and the sound of trains passing .. very old and preserve. It’s sad to see a fence around the graves ... it’s recently.
This is how I got my RU-vid name. Blue sky is one of my favorite songs by the Allman Brothers and the song is from 1972 ❤ oh and great memories from the 70s!! 🎶 You're my blue sky you're my sunny day 🎶
We kids drove from Fort Worth to Dallas in 1972 or so to see the Allman Brothers, who were renowned for their looong sets. After 4 hours, we finally left. The concert continued.
Awesome job Scott! I actually lived in the same town as Gregg until 2016. I would run into him at the supermarket while he was shopping alone, I did food deliveries to his house (I had the gate code 😉) and have a few photos with him and a signed copy of his book. He passed a year after I left there so thank you for taking us to pay our respects to this very nice man. May he rest in peace 🕊
The Allman brothers is a awesome group I remember in 1974, when I was 8.Sad they have all passed away May the Allman brothers,RIP,💐 Thanks for the video from Morrow Ga.
That is one of the strangest looking cemeteries I have ever seen. The hills. Steps. Train tracks. Very unique! Scott, thanks for another interesting trip.
We have one like that in Suffolk Virginia called Cedar Hill cemetery. Many steps and hills just the same as this. There’s also civil war graves here too. They look very similar.
@@Cowgirlfrom_HellI remember that cemetery. I used to go to First Baptist Mahan a very long time ago when I was a kid. That’s the same cemetery you can see from the Constance rd right?
You’re everything I like in a man. You’re handsome and good hearted and I’ll always support you because you have that for me and all viewers. You have put a big smile on my face. Vickie❤️😊
the words on his stone are part of the lyrics to the song he wrote Mellisa. Been there so many times, saw them so many times and still visit them every time i am in Macon.
I dare to say that the Allman Brothers are the greatest southern rock band. I believe that they were the first. I was 15 in 1971 when I discovered them. That was in Chicago, where I was born and grew up. The Allman Brothers tree of life has provided us with many wonderful offspring: Tedeschi Trucks Band, The Allman Betts Band, The Devon Allman Project, and more. Thanks for the visit!
Thank you for this video....i was disappointed about a year ago, i was supposed to go visit the site but the hills and the stairs stopped me because of my wheelchair so i had to turn around so thank you for being the legs for the ones who are unable to visit such places.
Me and my brother traveled to see all of them about a year ago. We went to the two accident sites and ate at the restaurant they loved, the H & H ❤ Such sweet people at the restaurant. They told us the table the Allman Brothers always sat at and we ate at their table. It was awesome 😎
Hi Scott, what an awesome cemetery that is, some much history of the Allman brothers, no wander that they all wanted to be buried there, there favourite hang out. I love the way the Allman brothers graves are well protected and gated off, so tragic the way they died, I love the midnight rider song. RIP to the Allman brothers 💐💐💐💐💐💐The cemetery is so unique from all the others you see, it’s so nice to have something different. RIP little Martha, such a beautiful grave of her💐💐💐💐. RIP to the Bond family 💐❤️💐💐💐💐. It really upsets me when people vandalise other peoples graves, it’s so disrespectful and nasty. Thank you Scott for taking us there. 🤟🏼✌️👍⭐️🥰
Scott I’m so glad you covered this. I was thinking today that I’d like to see where Gregg was laid to rest and there’s no one of rather see cover this than you. Thank you so so very much for allowing us to see this. ❤️🙏🏻❤️
You should do stuff on albums! I would be glued. It’s just not like that anymore!! Oh so many too! Like these ! Fascinating stuff! Well liked band! RIP Allman Bros!
OMG!! SCOTT... THANK YOU THANK YOU....THANK YOU...I'm a huge Allman brothers fan. Never been to the cemetery but dying to go. I been listening to them since the 70s. Their music ROCKS!! I thought about moving to Macon. The Allman brothers rock!!
Georgia is one of those places that has piqued my curiosity for a long time for all of its history and scenery. I don’t know the Allman Brothers’ music that well but this video definitely makes me want to check them out! The 60s were these BEST times for rock and roll music 🎸 Love the epitaph, “Set free,” very musical and inspiring.
I've been there a few times when I lived in Atlanta - I've moved to California now but it's nice to see it again. I was there for Gregg's grave services.
Thank you for showing the graves and album covers, I love that! I have loved the Allman Brothers since the 70's, they were the pioneers of Southern Rock! WI met Gregg Allman at Lake Compounce in CT, he couldn't have been nicer and so cool. It was a big gathering of sober bikers. I still listen the albums on a record player. As for the band, they sure did have a tragic bunch of years, while giving us timeless songs to never be forgotten.
Thanks for doing this video Scott. I'm a huge fan of the Allman Brothers. My dad would always play them growing up. So there a big part of my childhood. My mom and dad took me to one there concerts when I was a baby, I'm now 41. I guess I was sleepy, and I think it was Duane brought me on stage, started singing to me to sleep. Wish I could remember that. Ramblin Man one my favorite songs.❤💗🥹🩷💜🩵❤️🙏
R.I.P. Dickey Betts. The world is just not gonna be the same with out you. Right now I'm going to listen to you play Jessica live. And maybe shed a tear or two.
I was there 2 years ago on a sweltering August day. Mid 90s. Humid. A Sunday. Couldn't find the graves. Some guy driving through told me where to go. Hard to find. I spent 30 minutes there. All alone. It's a very eerie cemetery with weeds, etc grown over everywhere. Old graves. Can't describe the feeling I had. Left some coins on their graves. The railroad tracks in back is where the famous photo of the band was taken in 1969. The Big House is a great tour also. I missed Cher by a day. She was there to visit Greg's best friend who was in the hospital. They told me Dickey Betts doesn't come back to the house. Too many bad memories. Feels haunted to him.
This is one of the best videos you have done. They really fixed the allman brothers grave site up. There was a small stairway in the middle of it.(just refer to older video and pictures) so when greg was initially laid to rest, he was at the edge of that staircase. So they took out the staircase, fillled everything in, and this is what there is. Seems they got rid of a lot of shrubbery around the graves of duane allman and berry oakley. When i look at the hills in that cemetery, i think of "moguls", the slopey hills skiers go down in competitions. Thank you for showing us the Bond grave, where they shot the back album cover. As i once read somewhere, "they're Allmans, they dont need much". With their talent, and creativity, this statement holds true.😊
Hi sweetie, it's a damn shame how people desecrate graves today. In my day, we would sit and maybe have a drink, smoke a J and play guitar. We would have never even thought about doing anything to those graves. I love the interview Gregg did with Dan Rather. I was heartbroken when he passed. The Allman Brothers have always been part of my soundtracks. Peace...
You are the best ..u explain things in a respectful manner and reverance . .your parents did a wonderful job with raising you with lots of love and teaching you to respect others and not make fun of peoples lives . Good job dear. I know they are watching down on you and are very proud of you and all you do ..❤
A beautiful spot for a fantastic group. It’s heartwarming that the band is together still even after passing away ❤ making beautiful music together still in heaven
Scott, I can't wait to watch this later tonight when I have some me time. But as usual, I am playing it out for you now. Congratulations on 7 years of hard work and giving all of us a million smiles and laughs along the way. You'll always be the best there is in my book! ❤ 🎉
An influential southern rock band that still has hordes of loyal followers to this day and beyond. Talented musicians. I watched this episode, Scott, coming off a 2 day bender. I'm currently sippin on some hair of the dog to stave off the hangover. This will be the 2nd video that I have watched of yours today. Not because I think you're a manly beast who might have nipples made of nickle, but because I like your content. Fuck, I might have to go purchase another bottle. Cheers, Scott.
When the cemetery was established in the 1800s the roads/lanes were for horse or mule drawn hearses/wagons & carriages... Its an amazing beautiful peaceful resting place set up like a park... historic. Come "take a walk along the river"...
check out the video of Greggs funeral that was held there at the cemetery. he had bag pipes at the gate, and speakers up in the trees with the sound of birds . it was just perfect and all the remaining band memebers and his children, family, wife and some ex wifes were there
I visited his grave site 6 weeks after he was buried and before they gated it all in. His widow, Shannon Williams, showed up right after I did and I got to meet her.
What is up my friend o my gosh I love the Allman brothers band seen them in concert I think in 85 don't quote me lol cher and greg Allman were an item ❤love your videos buddy stay gold pony boy love ya
Funny thing I was there 3 years ago and did a video for my Facebook and did the same exact locations you are doing and told the same stories for thise locations I just didn't post on RU-vid, great job as always
I want to see the south, especially Louisiana and their famous or infamous cemetery. But this cemetery is so unique .. I love the unkept overgrown of if also .. I love the swamplands .. beautiful part of the world ❤ Great video Scott ❤
Great job Scott. I'm an Allmans freak and can fact check anything without a book or phone. You did a great job. I think you did show a pic of Duane holding a pint instead of Berry at one point. Otherwise you have the lore down cold
My favorite Allman Brothers tune is Just Ain't Easy, I love the bluesy voice and the signature Dickey Betts guitar pieces . Do you realize Duane was only with them for 3 years till he died, then Barry Oakley for 4 years . Great video as always Mr. Scott, the Allman Brothers love you too.
I love seeing different cemeteries like this. Thanks for showing us this, and for honoring the Allman brothers and others who reside here. Love your videos!!! ❤
Beautiful plots yeah that’s odd I would want to be with my sons it’s sad amazing band I’m really tired of all the good being taken away it’s time for some bad to go amazing as usual stay safe much love always ❤
